We never want to go back
By ,
The rooms were in shambles. The carpet and wallpaper was torn, the bedding was ugly and the room stank of old cigarrettes (it was supposed to be a nonsmoking room!). The staff did nothing to warn us of the renovations or deal with our complaints. We could have had a cleaner room for $50 less a night at the Best Western.

WIll not go back again

I liked the location. The value and cleanliness were fine. However the service was bad. We requested a rail side for the beds so the kids won't fall off. But the personnel answering sounded like they don't know what to do and they just hung up the phone. Then we called again and they said they returned the call but they didn't.

I will go back if I can't find anything else.

Whatever happens, do not use their Valet service. It is risky, the messed up our car and did not want to own to their mistake. Location is nice, park on a block by university ave, open air parking for $13 weekdays, $10 on weekends. Always fight for a better room, mattress squeeqes, carpet worn out!!!! On a positive note, things are getting better.

Would never go back!
By ,
We brought 90 students here on their graduation overnight trip! The entire experience was a nightmare. Showers and lights were not working properly. Even had bathroom locks not functioning properly! Wish we had stayed at the Travelodge Hotel, even if it meant a longer drive into downtown Montreal. The hotel renovations began before 7:00 a.m., which woke you up and made the stay a horrendous one. We were NOT told about this HUGE "construction" project taking place in the hotel! Rooms were sub-standard for what we paid! Do yourself a favor, find another hotel to stay at!

Stay Away, Far Away.
By ,
Rolled up to the front of the hotel with a motor coach load (40+) of people, with luggage to drop off at this dreadful hotel. Only one spot in front of the hotel is available for buses to drop off in, and an empty coach operated by Dallas Bus Lines of Mississauga Ontario is parked in it, driver no where to be seen. Rather than welcoming the group, or asking the Dallas driver to move his motorcoach so a group can check in, the door man rudely inisted that the arriving group had to back their coach up and disembark into a foot of snow, and try to get their luggage four feet from the coach, through the snow, to the sidewalk. The staff at this hotel seem to think that they are doing you a favor by letting you stay in their hotel, when they should be treating guests as they should be, that they are honored you chose to stay there. If this hotel, wants to carry on this very poor customer service attitude, I suggest you take your money and stay elsewhere, as there are many nicer hotels in this price rage, which much better and friendler service.

Better than I expected!!
By ,
My girlfriend and I spent this past weekend and everything went well. The room was clean and tidy. The location of the hotel was excellent. The staff was very helpful in explaining how to get around town. We thought the food was very good and the price was resonable. Overall I would have no problem recommending this hotel. Stayed there 10/06/2006-10/09/2006!!

Wish it were better
By ,
Felt sort of dissappointed by this hotel. Holiday Inn sort of has a standard that wasn't really maintained. First, the information in the in-room binder was often incorrect. One morning we took our car out and upon return there was no valet. The pool is definately not opened long enough and booking a massage therapist is difficult. However, the concierge certainly met high expectations and redeemed the hotel.

Money Spent Well
By ,
I just got back from a weekend away at the Holiday Inn Mid-Town located in the heart of downtown Montreal and I had a great time. Before booking a room at the Holiday Inn I read some reviews about the hotel itself to get a better understanding of where I was staying, but the reviews only made me more nervous than anything. When reading some of the reviews you would assume that the hotel was the worst hotel in Montreal, in reality it is an amazing place for the money you spend. The hotel was beautiful, the check in/out was very fast, the elevators were prompt, the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, the hotel staff was very friendly and the location was perfect. A lot of people simply like to complain about small things, which lead me to believe that they are the same type of people that pay for a 'Holiday Inn' and expect the 'Ritz Carleton'. I am the type of person that reads reviews before doing anything because I like to know what awaits me, but in this case I wish I hadn't. The bad reviews about this hotel are simply statements written by people whose expectations are much too high and all I can say to them is, 'next time pay $350.00 a night and save your useless complaining for something else'; to everyone else, the Holiday Inn is a great place to stay for the money you're paying. I can't wait to go back next year.

Stay as a last resort
By ,
We stayed here for 8 days, there were problems right from our check in time. They would not honor the price we were quoted and emailed confirmation of, stating that it was a busy week , so prices were higher. Itcost us an extra $50/night. We had emailed 2 weeks prior to ask for non feather pillows and extra pillows and a small fridge to be put in our room. We got confirmation that this would be done....it wasn't. We had to approach housekeeping to fix our pillow problem and we were told to jsut empty he bar fridge in our room and use that. We were on the executive floor....the free internet was down most of the week, the tv was hit and miss, the free continental breakfast was stale muffins and croissants and the coffee was dirty laundry water. We had to deal with rooms full of drunk high school kids and finally had to call hotel security at 4:30am so we could get sleep. There were 3 good things I can say; the conceirge service was fantastic! friendly and helpful. The restaurant food was great and good prices and the pool and hot tub were good. We will never stay here again and advise anyone else to look elsewhere first.
