These reviews seem bi-polar???
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/10
I'm using this as a way of deciding where to go and can't trust anything said here if there is no accountability as to who is writing these reviews All this requires is a hotel employee to write two good reviews for every terrible one and they get a high rating. What gives here?

Overpriced Accomodation at the Pillar & Post Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/5/10
They certainly smile! The setting is wonderful. However, it can be a problem from then on. My wife and I stayed 2 nights, having book online. The clerk told us they had expected us the night before! There was no room in the inn - well not at the online price...We were taken to a 2 double bed room above the indoor pool. The price for the first night was unsatisfactory. The Saturday night rate was worse. We returned to the desk. The only other choice, they said, was an upgraded one room "suite". Suite it was, in terms of size, but by upscale standards, it was anything but that. The price for the first night was $ 360, with the Saturday night jumping to $ 470! We were tired and so we agreed. The room was not clean, as we let them know. The mattress didn't fit the king-sized bed. The linens were anything but good quality for the price. We feel we'd been had. The breakfasts in the Cannery Room were very good with plenty of choice, but who needs to spend $ 18 each every day? We had a lunch in the bar which was hopeless when it came to service. The staff were young and perhaps in training, however, they were inefficient. Food took a long time to get to us seated at the bar. We had to ask for service. We have told the manager at P & P we would not recommend the inn to anyone.

Do Not Eat In The Lounge!
By Denise, 2/22/10
Recently we visited Niagara-On-The-Lake. There were 6 adults and a 3 year old. We decided to go to the Pillar & Post for lunch after visiting some shops. The restaurant was closed to lunch so we were told that we could get something to eat in the lounge. We were seated at a table for 6 while my husband sat at the end of the table. The waitress came by and asked us if she could get us drinks which she did and shortly after took out orders. All we ordered were some burgers, sandwiches and the 3 yr old had a small pizza and it took OVER AN HOUR for our food to arrive! The waitress explained that it was taking so long because it took a long time to cook the burgers because we wanted them well done. When they arrived they were hard and the outside was black. All we wanted was to make sure that they were cooked. When the bill arrived I was shocked. The little pizza which normally costs $2 - $3 in a bar was $6. We will never go back.

Lovely atmosphere & Rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/10/08
My husband and I came to the Pillar & Post to celebrate my 40th birthday. It is costly to stay here, but I was thrilled with our room. We were in the spa wing, with a king bed (soft as a cloud), a sitting area and a lovely bathroom. Were very comfortable, and although the location of the Inn doesn't allow for fantastic views, I was surprised at how quiet our room was at night. Very relaxing. Loved the pool and the hot tub, and the bathrobes provided so that I didn't need to bring a "cover-up". We ate one dinner here, unfortunately seated near the kitchen and alongside a large party with many children, so it was a little noisy. The food was fine, but not necessarily worth the cost. Our server was excellent, despite the fact that he was clearly overwhelmed by the number of tables he had. Overall, I'd stay here again, but skip the restaurant and go down the road to The Irish Harp Pub to eat. I recommend this inn to couples and small wedding parties.

Loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/25/07
Exceptionally friendly, helpful staff who couldn't do enough for you. Thank you to you all Though the bedrooms are a bit dark (but that's part of the old world charm) the beds were exceptionally comfortable and room large enough for two sets of ladies sharing! Location was lovely though the first time we walked into "town" it seemed a long way, but by the end of our 4 great days there it was a breeze! All 4 of us would love to go back and here would be our destination.

I will become a spa regular!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/28/07
Beautiful spa!! I went to get a hot stone massage while my husband had a pint at a local Irish pub. I can't say enough about the spa. It was so very clean. Surely worth the money. I spent $110 but I used the pool, suana, hot springs and had an amazing massage....I was there for two and a half hours and could have stayed 4 more.

Heaven on Earth!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/8/07
We stayed in February and had a new-born with us. They had put us in a room in the outbuildings but quickly accomodated us for having to walk in the bitter cold with a baby. We were upgraded, free of charge, to a beautiful suite. The service was AMAZING! My husband owned a restaurant and was very interested in their kitchen set-up so he was given a 2-hour tour with the head chef, on-the-spot! I had a 1 1/2 hour massage which melted any new mommy woes away...and then to sit in the hot tub in a snow storm was blissful. We have and will continue to recommend this fabulous spa to anyone looking for a special get away.

flawless \"location wedding\"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/2/06
We had a small wedding, with 50 guests in the cozy "Olde Library" (and their kids in the adjacent "Secorde Room"). Our guests traveled to Niagara-on-the-Lake from Seattle, Silicon Valley, Austin, and various towns around Ontario; the hotel staff went out of their way to make sure we all felt warmly welcomed and well cared for throughout our stay. We highly recommend the Pillar and Post for your parties, meetings and get-togethers!

My bad experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/06
on October 21 I had the misfortune of stopping with my wife and 94 year old mother of coffee and cake at the Pillar and Post in Niagara on the Lake. We were directed to the lounge. The waitress immediately brought us coffee, and told us there were only 3 items to choose from the menue prior to 5 pm. It took 40 minutes before we were served, the cake was mediorce at best and the price outrageous. Had it not been for my elderly mother, getting in and out of the car, we would have been gone a long time ago. Needless to say, I was thoroughly disappointed in our experience, and it will be a long time -if ever- befor I return to this restaurant.
