Overpriced Accomodation at the Pillar & Post Inn

They certainly smile! The setting is wonderful. However, it can be a problem from then on. My wife and I stayed 2 nights, having book online. The clerk told us they had expected us the night before! There was no room in the inn - well not at the online price...We were taken to a 2 double bed room above the indoor pool. The price for the first night was unsatisfactory. The Saturday night rate was worse. We returned to the desk. The only other choice, they said, was an upgraded one room "suite". Suite it was, in terms of size, but by upscale standards, it was anything but that. The price for the first night was $ 360, with the Saturday night jumping to $ 470! We were tired and so we agreed. The room was not clean, as we let them know. The mattress didn't fit the king-sized bed. The linens were anything but good quality for the price. We feel we'd been had.
The breakfasts in the Cannery Room were very good with plenty of choice, but who needs to spend $ 18 each every day? We had a lunch in the bar which was hopeless when it came to service. The staff were young and perhaps in training, however, they were inefficient. Food took a long time to get to us seated at the bar. We had to ask for service.
We have told the manager at P & P we would not recommend the inn to anyone.
