Very disappointed in room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/18/10
Like a sleezy motel for one-night stands! First you go through a maze of corridors and doors going every-which-way. Hall carpets smelled and looked damp. Room carpet felt damp, pillows felt damp, dank smell. Room in disrepair. Wallpaper and paint peeling, saggy bed, dated furniture, very small bath towels (I thought they were hand-towels), a/c very dated, no fan adjustment at all. No sense of decor, nothing matches. Would not stay here again. Could be nice room if updated and kept clean.

We Enjoyed Our Stay Before The Maple Syrup Festival!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/7/08
Yes okay I am going to say the truth...Yes the building is older, but honestly My wife and I and our three children had a good time, we came down for the maple syrup festival in Elmira. Now Elmira and Kitchener are about a 20 minute drive apart however we did not mind the drive. Now when we had checked in we had noticed the hotel was quite busy, but as I imagined it would have been as we heard prior to coming that there was going to be over 75,000 people at the maple syrup festival this year. Now onto the hotel room, I had booked a non smoking 2 double beds and a playpen for our little son, But when we got to our room we noticed that it was a king bed, My wife and I thought "how are 5 of us going to sleep in 1 bed" I called the front desk and they had informed me that they have upgraded us from a room with 2 beds to a king room with a pull out sofa and the playpen was on it's way. For a few seconds I was upset however I noticed that this room was quite large and it came with a fridge and microwave which honestly helped, when traveling with a toddler it's a great thing to have. The pool was absolutely amazing my daughter and son really enjoyed themselves and met a lot of kids their age. Which I believe was great, as then my kids were occupied and not bored when we were in the hotel, my wife actually got to relax. The hotel room was great, very clean, we had no complaints (except we wish our weekend was longer, but hey there's really nothing we can do about that....). We paid $99.00 plus tax, we think it is a great price and a well deserved weekend. We will for sure come back, I mean they have everything that other hotels have too but at a cheaper price. The only downfall was there was no continental breakfast on the weekend. But I was talking to the front desk clerk about that and he said that the new restaurant that they are opening will be serving breakfast for a great price and will even do room service by the summer.....

BED BUGS!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/3/07
After booking this hotel online and not knowing what to expect I will surely never do that again. First the hotel smelt awful, second the smoking room was disgusting and the bed was broken. After switching rooms and moving to a non-smoking room we had to ask for towels as well as another pillow. At 5am we were woken up by bugs crawling all over our bed, pillows and bodies. After researching these bugs and seeing their nest and family we have concluded they are infact Bed Bugs, which often carry Hepatitis B and the Plague. The hotel staff were not helpful in solving this, and stated that "there are no other rooms to stay in on site"... like we wanted to continue to stay there. We were also accused of bringing these bugs in ourselves by having the door open to outside. After 3 hours of discussion with hotel management (who were not onsite to assist immedietly) we were given our money back, but not before being offered a COUPON, or 50% OFF?!?! I would never stay here again since cleaning is not there thing, or never at a Howard Johnson for that matter. 2 minutes down the road is a BEAUTIFUL Holiday Inn!

dirty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/06
I booked on line sight unseen. Having children with me makes it important to be clean. It was filthy, the bathroom, carpets, closets haven't been vacuumed in months. The area for the ice machine smelled so bad and was so damp and dirty I refused to take the ice! I would not recommend it to anyone. PD

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/1/06
Upon arriving at this hotel there were no towels in my room. The shower looked like it had not been cleaned in ages as could be seen by the hair on the floor. I could not stay. Upon receiving my credit card bill, they decided to charge me for my stay anyway. It is in a bad state of repair and it is just not the cleanliness I am looking for, even at a great rate. I am sorry to the staff, it is not their fault.

Family Fun in the Sun
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/05
The staff were able to help direct us to all the local tourist attractions, we visited Sports World with our kids and after a long exhausting day we returned to our cool and comfortable room, where the family sat and watched a movie, and ordered in some food. Overall it was a great experience, and the kids loved the pool.
