Dont' believe what you read

The only thing going for this hotel is that it's located near a bus stop. The hotel is old and walls are thin. The 13' inch tv doesn't help. I stayed in Vancouver from Aug 12-17, 2010. Nothing in this hotel will scream at you to come back, everything people been describing must work for the hotel. I am disabled and they told me they only have one room for disabled people. So I had to check in a regular room. The small frig in the room is old and noisy. The bellboy or bellman didn't even help out with the luggage to our room or even offer as we walk in the hotel. Spend alittle money and stay somewhere else. It's 2010, and they still have small 13' inch. They have a balcony, but it's so dirty you can't even walk out there and enjoy the city view. I think it's so old that the walls are thin, people walking out in the middle of the night you can feel their door slam and hear everything in the hallway. Hope this helps.

Spectacular views from the higher floors!
By ,
We stayed here for 4 nights and 5 days and had a great room. We stayed on the 12th floor and our views from the balcony were the city, mountains and a bit of the ocean. We had a Jr. Suite and it was so roomy and nice. We had a mini frig also. The mall is across the street and so is a Safeway store. Lots of authentic Chinese food places along with the restaurant in hotel. The staff was wonderful and met our needs at all times. The hardest thing to get used to is the parking fee, a bit steep. But the night lights of the city was spectacular. Yes, there is work along one of the main roads, but we did not hear it since we were out enjoying the city and all it had to offer. Search for the best prices in Jr Suites and you will see that it is the same as a regular room. Stay in the tower on a higher floor and you will be amazed! Our friends stayed on the 8th floor and loved it also. Welcome Fruit plate is given to you on your first day and so are $10 vouchers for the restaurant each day. No complaints!!!

Not at all advertised!
By ,
The room was no where near as nice and decent as advertised on the website. The room was small, dirty and hot. The hallway to get to the room was musty and narrow. The hotel is outside of downtown Vancouver and would require to cross the Cambie Bridge to get there. Poor quality hotel for the price that we paid. We were disappointed.

Not worth it at half the price
By ,
No one told me the entire neighbourhood would be torn up and almost completely inexcessable. They rate themselves as a downtown 3.5 star hotel, they are neither. Not worthy of anymore than a bad experience. Not even free wireless access. Look elsewhere.

Not my first choice - pricey for location
By ,
I stayed at the Plaza 500 for a business trip - hotel was picked out for me. It's trying very hard to be swanky, and prices are high for both the hotel and the restaurant inside. On the plus side, the rooms were very large and well appointed. Location was decent - lots of food in easy walking distance, some shopping as well. Free pass to the fitness center across the street was a nice perk. If you are traveling for pleasure, however, this is not the place. You can't walk to any of the major sites, and with the construction just outside the bus schedules are nutty.

Room was clean except for the grout in bathroom. Ice machines were down to two considering there were what... 14 floors!! Hallways were hot and stairsways were dirty. Ripes in shear curtains. No frig or crafe for coffee maker. Street sounds were very noisy. Parking was stiff at $20+tax/night when off street paking a block away was possible. Enjoyable walking in surrounding neighborhood. Lots of affordable eating places three blocks away. Waited at least 8 minutes at low staffed desk for check in. Rooms 411's bed were comfy. Was not worth $149 for two queens. 6/07

Terrible, really dissapointed, not worth the money.
By ,
Rooms were old and out-dated. Furniture were low quality, tears in the sofa and the room smelled moldy. Cigarette burns in the carpet and Noisy as well. Not worth the money as other hotels offer better value and quality rooms. Felt like a run-down motel in the bronx.

Not bad for the price.
By ,
My only complaint was the first room we had smelled so badly of smoke that we had to move. I was told it was a non-smoking room, but it sure didn't smell that way. The staff was very helpful however, and the price was reasonable.
