Great hotel and location for family of four
By cashew, 8/3/10
It was in a very central location, close to downtown, Empress Hotel and the harbor. We went in July and while it was very warm outside we were very comfortable in our room on the 12th floor. The AC was turned on, but we turned it off and just kept the windows open. Traffic noise was nearly nonexistent. We rented bikes on nearby Humboldt Street and rode through the park and along the shoreline. Our corner one bedroom suite was very roomy. Our teen aged daughters slept on the sofa sleeper in the living room.

Good family hotel
By thegreekhk, 1/2/10
Great location for downtown and top notch breakfast. Bar very good when open. Rooms large but very old fashioned. Air con for suites was not really adequate during summer. Good value for families - comfortable but not luxurious. Staff very helpful. Would stay again.

We just keep coming back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/08
We have stayed at the Chateau Victoria for many years. It is one of the best hotels in Victoria. The staff always goes the "extra mile" for their guests. It is very central to all the sights and shopping. The Vista 18 restaurant is superb. Not to mention Victoria Jane's lounge for a night cap. The rooms are spotlessly clean. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Victoria. Al & Sheila

Great Location!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/6/07
Location! Location! Location! The only place better would be The Empress! Chateau Victoria is right in the middle of where you want to be for shopping, sight-seeing, and hitting the pubs! You won't need your car unless you want to go to places outside the city, and then they can set that up for you too! The rooms are nice but some are a little worn. Could use some new furnishings. We didn't spend that much time in the room anyway! Nice views from the balcony!!!

Loved the hotel!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/2/07
I traveled from WA to Victoria with my husband, toddler son, 6 year daughter and my grandmother. We stayed in one of the suites on the 10th floor. What a wonderful view!! The room was wonderful, the bed was wonderful the hotel was wonderful! The front desk employees could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The Vista18 restaurant was wonderful to!!! We can't wait to go back to Victoria and we will be staying at this hotel again!!

Great location!
By Rich, 5/16/05
The hotel itself was in a nice centralized location with many shops at walking distance. Just be careful of the cleaning people. They will come knocking at your door at 8:30am, and will wake you up with the vaccuum cleaners. I asked for a good room with a queen size, and gave me a room with 2 full size beds instead, and put me in a room directly over the loading dock, so I was woken up with no only the loud room cleaning ladies, but also the banging and clanging of the trucks below.... Not too pleasant to wake up to when you're trying to have a good vacation, and "trying" to sleep in...

A little bit elderly but nice location
By Holly, 5/10/05
The location of the Chateau Victoria is darn good -- just behind the Empress, and an easy walk to all the touristy stuff. We had a suite with a great view, kitchenette (no microwave!), tvs in both rooms. Spacious, a trifle musty. Room service was great. Pool is 5 feet deep in the shallow end, so beware if you have small kids. I would recommend this as a good basic, standard hotel, however if you want something super deluxe or romantic, it's not for you.

it was wonderful
By SUE, 9/1/04
traveling with young children is not always easy but booking a room here at chateau victoria hotel was very pleasant. our room was a one bedroom suite with two queen size beds in each room. our kids loved their own tv in their room. our friends took the room next door with a king bed and a spacious living room with a stocked kitchenette. we also loved our view outside our small balcony. i would recommend this hotel to other families. since the hotel was only one block away from the inner harbor, we walked around without the kids complaining too much.
