Yellowstone Valley Inn, Cody

After reading many of the reviews, I must respond. We have stayed at the Yellowstone Valley Inn for several years and keep going back. We love it! The owners are fantastic. The RV park does have gravel, but it's located in the high desert. It's a western atmosphere and I believe the gravel adds to the look of the park. Can't imagine it anyother way. There is very low humidity here. We are from the Mid-West and this is greatly appreciated. Mossquitos love me, but I have not had the first bite at Yellowstone Valley Inn. The weather is perfect in the summer. Mostly in the 70's and 80's during the day and great sleeping weather at night. The 360 degree mountain view in simply breathtaking! The river is located at the edge of the property and the sunsets and sunrises are unbelievable. Our friends stayed upstairs in the motel in a room that had a private balcony overlooking the river and said it was the prettiest view they had ever seen. One morning they saw a double rainbow that was out of this world! The location of YVI is fantastic. We have looked for other locations . . . north, south and West Yellowstone, but nothing compares! Our research was over a period of several months. Everything is better here including the price! At YVI you are very close to shopping and visiting The Yellowstone National Park, plus many other day trips. Yellowstone Valley Inn is located near the highway which is very convenient to get to Cody or The Yellowstone National Park. At night it's very quiet. Not many people travel to or from Yellowstone at night. We will definitely be back because we love the location, the weather, the views, the owners and employees. We also love the restaurant. The food is excellent (the steaks are to die for . . . the best we have ever eaten!) and the cold beverages in their Wesern Saloon can't be beat. The nightly entertainment is free and lots of fun too. One additional item . . . we also love to visit this resort during the spring, early summer and fall. We are photographers and traveling between Yellowstone Valley Inn and the National Park is breathtaking. The scenery and rock formations are awesome. We've seen many grizzleys, moose, black bear, buffalo, big horn sheep, mule deer and elk. Eagles have a couple of nests and can be seen in the trees and flying. This is all before you reach the National Park which is only 1/2 hour or so from Yellowstone Valley Inn. If you're looking for that perfect spot to spend a night, week, or month or longer, this is it! We can't wait to visit again next spring (2012). We have a motor home and love the large pull through sites. Some have a river view but all are fantastic. The owners have a great place here and are very accommodating. We have learned a lot from watching Ron's video on the Yellowstone Valley Inn's website.

I was here early in the season so not much was going on...The staff was great..The gentleman running the front desk was very helpfull..He was friendly and out going..Made every day I was there joyfull...The rooms were not all that great not as modern as they say in ad..No tv reception the wifi would not work half the time..The pool was closed..the hot tub always had drunks in it..When I met the owner he was one of the drunks.Go figure..His wife was ok ..The rest of the crew was awesome..But I will NEVER return there...

My definition of modern is A LOT different from the one advertised for the Yellowstone Valley Inn. If we were in 1970, they could use the term modern (cheap wall paneling, terrible outdoor lighting inside, don't even get me started on the windows and bathroom issues). Rustic is not a word I would use either, unless rustic means dirty. I could not have been more disappointed by my stay. There was hair all over the bathroom and I don’t think the carpet has ever been vacuumed. The beds are new, but they are an oversized twin – not a queen. The internet access did not work – even in the main lobby. Forget about TV – there is no reception, why they put a TV in the cabin in the first place is mind boggling. We awoke early to roofers banging on the cabin next door - yes on a Sunday! We decided to make the most of it and use the hot tub. The hours of operation for the hot tub are 10 to 10, without exception (when I asked to get in early it was stated that it was too hard to get the chemicals taken care of). So, we decided again, to make the most of our stay and just take a shower, after scrubbing down the shower because it was covered in someone else’s hair.....it shut off mid stream. Unable to use the phone, because there isn’t one (again, very modern) I went to the front desk to find out it’s the type of shower head (water conservation – the owner acted like I just should have known they have a water issue – in a hotel!). By then, I was so upset I asked for a refund, I was told I should have complained the night before. I didn't want to complain the night before because it seemed like we could just bear through all the issues and try and have a good time anyway - the shower, or lack there of was my breaking point. My husband and I are avid outdoors people, we frequently stay in forest service cabins, backpack, and are not at all picky – this is the only time I have had to complain about any stay. This place is extraordinarily overpriced, dirty, and inconvenient. Save your money and stay down the road or even in Cody. You’d be better off staying in your car. Whatever you do DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

We utilized the campground and the new shower and restroom facilities. The cost was good for a campground in that area. We really wanted to use the advertised heated pool, but found the pool closed because of the weather... they really mean that it cost too much to heat it at the cooler temp when we were there. The Hot tub was hot and we enjoyed it often. The breakfast was $5.00 per adult guest and $3.99 per child. My Goodness it was wonderful and the portions were large! They had alot of rain before we arrived and the campsites had new gravel but the driving lanes between the campsites were mud. I suggest they utilize 3" gravel to start for a base and then go to the more economical 1/2 " in a year or so. Would I come back? Yes it was a joy interacting with the ladies at the front desk and looking at the panoramic scenery!

We arrived late with a party of six with other hotels in the area full. They gave us a very reasonable rate especially considering the great breakfast for six included. We were so delighted we stayed over and found that the restaurant was outstanding as well. The views and atmosphere are such that it was worth the extra 18 mile drive (each way) to visit the museums in Cody. Delighted all around, no complaints.

The food is excellent, the views are great, the staff was friendly, the cabin rooms were what I expected for a cabin (nice), but the Motel room we stayed in was not great, equivalent to a low tier Super 8. Our air conditioner froze up, maintenace not on-site after hours, had to use my own hair-dryer to defrost it at 10:00 pm. (suggestion from the dishwasher, very helpful young man though) Not very relaxing if you can imagine. Beds were ok. No towels at the pool, the pool was freezing cold (Mid August), even though they say it's heated (by the sun) and the front desk did not have replacement towels for morning showers, not a huge deal, but at $146.00/night, I expected better service. The laundry facility was good. Value for the money - 3 stars considering you are in the middle of no where, so they kind of have you on the hook, since you have to pre-pay for the first night, then you check in and they make you pre-pay for the rest of the stay. 3 week cancellation policy bothered me too. All in all, it was an ok stay, doubt I would return, but if I did, it would be for the food.

Yellowstone Valley Inn (YVI) is a fantastic and affordable place a short distance from the East entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The food is amazing, the employees warm and service oriented, the karoke and bar are fun, and the location is hard to beat. The rooms are modest, comfortable, clean, and very affordable. Right on the Shoshone River with mountains in every direction, the location is perfect! If you are looking for the Ritz, you better visit NYC, remember, you are in the Wild Wild West of Wyoming. Enjoy the quiet starlit nights, scenery, hospitality, and relaxed pace of YVI.

Excellent staff, great food, wonderfull rooms. We just happened to stop here to stay about 11 pm after a long day of site seeing. The ouwner when out of his way to make sure we had a hot meal even though the kitchen was closed. What a meal it was. Great!!! We will be back next summer, and we will not stay anywhere else. 3 old high school buddies on an epic motorcycle 3,500 mile journey from Arkansas to ride the 212 Beartooth highway from Red Lodge, MT/the Chief Joseph Highway and explore all that Yellowstone had to offer...we chose this place for it's location/desolation (you can see every star in the sky at night) and it's absolute beauty (the Shoshone river roaring right outside our balcony - open the sliding glass door and listen to it all night!). The food there is great...bar is a fun gathering place...hot tub/ heated pool and a fantastic FREE breakfast buffet every morning!!! We not only reccomend this place - we will certainly return on our next visit to this area. MOTORCYCLE RIDERS - RIDE THE 212 FROM RED LODGE, MT AND THE CHIEF JOSEPH HIGHWAY...FANTASTIC!!

We had such a relaxing time here in the evenings after sight seeing. The Innkeepers were great in helping with the mild disaster of the rental van losing transmission in the Mts. They were more than accommodating and life savers!! the rooms were clean and comfortable with the river soothing us with it's streaming lullaby. My husbaand had the best steak of the trip in the restaurant. The morning breakfast menued varied which was enjoyable. "Big Mike" was quite entertaining in the kareoke bar at night. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful place,lovely people --glad to live in this gorgeous America!!
