Don't recommend it
By Carla, 06/01/09
The hotel is really old. However location is great. Went to WI for a conference and this was the overflow hotel. The TV didn't work properly in my room, had to get up of bed to turn it on and off. The room smelled like garbage at all times. They gym is extremely small. I won't stay there again on my next visit to Madison.

Great hotel for reasonable price!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/21/08
Everything was fabulous...good service, great food, nice rooms, internet. Location is central to everything near the Capitol, and its just a beautiful hotel. I am looking forward to coming back this March 2008!

Stay in the Governor's Club
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/18/07
If you want to stay near the fun of Madison this is the place to go. The website says it's near state street but you literally walk out the door and everything is there. I highly recommend staying on the Governor's Club level. The evening cocktail hour is fantastic - top shelf liquors with a round bar and comfy furniture. Morning breakfast is filling and is a nice start to your day. Rooms have nice, comfortable bed linens with down duvets. The rooms are very spacious but the bathrooms are basic. But everything is clean and there is alot of counter space.

Bad customer service!!! won't go there
By Stanley, 09/04/06
One of us left his keychains in the room after we checked out. We called the customer service and asked them to check the room for us. They claimed there is nothing in the room. We went back to the hotel to talk to the front desk directly. They were not helpful, very impatient. only asked us to fill a lost form. As we were not so sure, we believed them that our keychain may lost somewhere else. We left, then recalled exactly where the keychain was. We called again and specifically asked them to check the night-stand drawer because we remembered where we left the keychain. Was told again that they had two house-keeping ladies checked the drawer.. This is so ridiculous, We had to come back to the hotel again and talk to the manager. It turned out keychain was still there!!! Now you can imagine how clean the room is! and how bad their customer service is !! they're just a bunch of slakers and liers. They don't care about you.. Don't use the hotel.

Don't stay there
By Zhiwei, 09/04/06
Very bad experience.. Booked the hotel from priceline for 2 days. They messed with our reservations. The key won't work on the 2nd day when we got back. Took us over 1/2 hr waiting. Then asked us to change a room. We requested to talk to the manager, switched us back to our previous room finally.

Won't Go Back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/23/06
We stayed in one of the "normal" rooms (Not the Club Level). The lobby and restaurant are very nice, but our room was not. Our room was not clean. There was dust everywhere and the shower was downright filthy. In addition, two light bulbs (lamps) were burnt out on our arrival. We called the front desk, but replacement bulbs never came. In addition, the room was rather small for the price we paid. On the plus side, the restaurant served a very tasty dinner, and the price (for dinner) was reasonable. I have stayed at a number of other Madison hotels and would recommend these over the Madison Concourse. If you want a Centrally Located hotel try the Hilton Monona Terrace. Or, for more campus atmosphere, the Edgewater.

Best perks in Madison!
By Karen, 06/04/05
The Governor's Club level is made up of the top three floors of the Concourse Hotel. The perks make it well worth the extra cost, which includes a great continental breakfast and evening drinks, appetizers, and dessert. Add to that a private elevator, thick terricloth robes, bottled water, fresh fruit, chocolates and turn-down service--all at no extra charge--along with a great view, and you have a winning combination. The hotel also has an indoor pool, hot tub, and fitness center, a coffee shop with a wonderful Sunday brunch buffet, and a fine restaurant, Ovations. The free wireless access allowed me to use my laptop anywhere in the hotel. I visit Madison one weekend per year, and I will always stay at the Concourse!

Charming!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/24/05
A UW alum, I took my sweetheart to Madison to celebrate his birthday, and to recall my long lost youth. While our room was merely "comfortable", any shortcomings were more than compensated for by the view: the illuminated Capitol Dome filled our entire window (I left the drapes open all night just to enjoy it during moments of wakefulness). Moreover, the service was outstanding at every level. Fresh, unpretentious, and enthusiastic, the staff was constantly available but never intrusive. The added ammenities of the Governor's Club are *well* worth the few extra dollars. (Oh! and lest I forget -- free Wi-fi from top to bottom of the Hotel -- so much more gracious than that tacky fee so often tacked on at other places.)

"Fantastic for school events or persoanl getaways"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/14/05
The staff was extremely courteous and helpful from the initial reservations to checkout services. The location is fantastic: Walking distance to State Street, the farmers market, and campus events. I originally stayed with a group of 20 high school students and was so inpressed with the attitude and service to not only the adults in the group but with the students as well that I have stayed on other occassions with my family for personal vacations. The pool, massage services, resturant and bar were all A+ in my book. We return every year for local events and look forward to a night away with no worries.
