Wonderful
By Elizabeth, 10/21/09
I loved going to the greenbrier. Everthing there is perfect. Inside it's spotless and beautiful. The staff is friendly and will do everything they can to make you feel at home. The food is the best I've ever had. There's plenty to do for all ages. I LOVE the Greenbrier and can't wait to go back again and again and again.

Totally the worst dinning I ever experienced!!!!!
By Diane, 01/25/09
The place is old and moldy smelling, and the food is the worst. I ordered a filet mignon and wanted a baked potatoe they only offered french fried potatoe sticks and I mean sticks and the roll they brought was dried and hard I asked for a fresh one, tapping the table with the 1 I had a small piece broke off well the waiter took the roll and came back with the same roll after heating in microwave, because the piece that fell off on table matched up the spot it fell off, my friend had the grilled rueben sandwich platter would of been nice to see some corn beef on the sandwich 3 thin slices. It cost the 4 of us $175.00 tip not included for probably the worse lunch we ever had. and I'm being totally honest with this review, I'll definitely spend my money else where for now on when I feel like having crap for lunch, at least it won't be so expensive and believe me MacDonalds to which I hate would of been better.

Be very suspicious of September 28-29 reviews
By Cheryl, 09/29/08
Greenbriar was featured in a Yahoo! article on September 28. The only two bad reviews for Greenbriar are from the exact same day. This is a fabulous resort. Talk to real people who have visited, and ignore random voices from the web.

The Grand Lady has gone
By Jay W, 09/29/08
Well I wonder who got paid to write those other reviews??? This establishment looked like a grand lady. But the outside is deceptive of the the muck and mire on the inside. What was once a grand dame is now a poor Norma Desmond impersonator. They have tried to modernize and have failed miserably, they have taken old South graciousness and turned it into a modernized mess. Gone is the class, ambiance and style and ushered in is rudeness, poor taste and poor service. the management seems oblivious to the guest nad the staff is too busy with their "issues" to accommadate any guest. I have never witnessed such a horrific mess nestled in such a wonderful locale. One would be much wiser to frequent any of the surrounding hotels in Lewisburg,WV or the beautiful resort The Homestead In Warm Springs, Va. This is a wonderful region to visit with wonderful people, The Greenbrier would be better suited to go back to what they knew best, Southern hospitality, and let Las Vegas be modern.

We would never return...
By Catherine A, 09/28/08
My family and I stayed at the Greenbrier for a weekend in Aug. 2008. The resort is mismanaged. They tried to put our 2 daughters and 1 boyfriend in a king bed. They booked both our dinner reservations for fri. & sat. for sat. evening. The only outdoor pool area was closed on fri. afternoon due to a function that booked the space. The pool was closed all day sat. due to a child "pooping' in the pool, it should have been specified that infants and children wear appropriate pool "pullups". The coffee shop closed at 5:00PM and there was nowhere to get coffee until dinner time. The bowling alley was closed due to a shortage of help. The decor is a little over the top,it reminded me of staying at someones grandmothers house that loved gaudy colors , ruffles and mismatched patterns, not restful at all. I'm sure with new management and a much needed face-lift it could be a 5 star resort but until then it shouldn't be in that category especially for over $ 500.00 per night per room.

A wonderful Christmas experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/15/08
The Greenbrier is a wonderful winter holiday experience. We stayed in a well-equiped 4 bedroom cottage for 4 days. The myriad of holiday activities kept us busy from morning to night. The best was the tour of the secret underground 'hidey-hole' for our government officials in time of crisis! Greenbrier Staff are incredibly professional and friendly. They really care about their guests and enjoy what they are doing. Multi-generational families are employed here. The service was exceptional, as was the food. Come hungry - there is a culinary delight around every corner! Christmas bookings fill up fast. Don't miss the sleigh rides and ice scultpures!

stellar.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/11/08
The reviews do not lie. This place aims to please every and any guest. Every aspect of one's stay at the Greenbrier is completed with the utmost care and passion. The staff makes one's experience perfect; each person is accommodating and friendly. The Greenbrier over looks no amenity. It is an enjoyable stay for any age group: during my stay I saw many mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, friends, couples, families, singles and even business associates, all of whom looked incredibly pleased and comfortable. This place makes you feel like your at home... you will honestly NEVER want to leave. The food and shopping are also A+. If you are looking for the perfect weekend or week away, the Greenbrier is your best bet! You won't be disappointed. Even if you go during off-season, the stay is excellent and there are still many things to do. The interior tour, dinner in the Main Dining Room, lunch at Draper's Cafe, chocolate from the candy shoppe, the gourmet cooking demonstration, the spa, the indoor pool, browsing the stores, a movie at the theater, the bunker tour, golf, falconry, fishing, make-up and/or hair appointment, afternoon tea, the meditation trail, and many more activities await a guest at the Greenbrier! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It deserves all 5 stars it has been awarded.

Almost Heaven
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/07
I have been to the Greenbrier at least 5 times. The spa was the 1st reason I was attracted to the resort but, came away loving EVERYTHING...The food was excellent, the spa is invigorating and the service is second to none. Even the bell hops are fantastic. Would suggest this resort to anyone including families, honeymooners, etc. I am taking my mother for a Mother/Daughter Spa package.
