Decent place to stay
By Bob, 5/9/12
Went to Showshoe mountain biking. Bike shuttle picked us up each morning at the Inn and drove us to the top. Rooms were clean but a little worn. I happened to be in 2 different rooms and both rooms & bathrooms were well done, nice TV in each. Nothing that would keep me from staying there again. Staff was nice, let me move closer to the other people in the group after I settled in without charging me extra. Internet was in the lobby only, couple good chairs to sit in while you surf. Breakfast buffet was good too. As for cell service, GIVE UP. AT&T can be picked up at the top and sometimes at the Inn. That whole area is a "quiet zone" because of the CIA/NSA/etc. satellite dishes in the neighboring valleys according to a staffer at Snowshoe. Of the 7 cell phones we had only 1 worked and that was a temp phone one guy got when he came to visit the US. Forget the phones & internet, go out on the mountain and have fun. Isn't that why you are Snowshoe in the first place? If you have money to burn stay at the top. If you want a decent place to crash after a hard day of mountain biking or skiing the Inn is a good value.

One word: Roaches
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/29/11
I recently stayed at the Inn at Snowshoe for business and was incredibly disappointed (and disgusted). The hotel looked dirty from the moment we entered, especially in comparison to the loveliness of Snowshoe Mountain/Village. When our group seemed concerned, the staff was rude. There is no phone service (on AT&T or Verizon) or wifi. The only internet access was in a small room off the main lobby, set up with a couple of folding tables. The rooms themselves were outdated and dirty. On the morning of checkout one of my coworkers found a roach in his bathroom. Had this been found the night before, we would have left immediately. They stopped serving breakfast long before the designated time. Our crew had to drive the 15 minutes up the mountain to find other dining options. (And, for the record, the Snowshoe Village on the mountain has several great dining options.) Do not stay here! Spend your time in one of Snowshoe's other lodges instead.

Would recommend it to anyone
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/5/10
We enjoyed our stay here - don't know what everyone else was complaining about! Room was basic but clean -- I refuse to sleep some place dirty. Room had flat screen tv, ironing board, hair dryer. The water pressure in the shower was great! We really enjoyed the pool and 2 hot tubs after a day of skiing. The food at the restaurant was good and affordable -- Wednesday is wing night and a hot breakfast was included. Pros: - Location to mountain - GREAT BARGAIN (Midweek it cost only $125/night with 2 tickets to snowshoe included -- it was cheaper to stay here and ski than to just ski!) - Hot tub - Hot breakfast - Friendly staff - clean - Includes use of Split Rock Pools at mountaintop when booked through Snowshoe Cons - No microwave in room (we brought our own!) - Driving up the mountain (roads not great) - Pillows weren't very good -- bring your own!

Pleasantly surprised! savings of $200+/day
By snnoop, 1/14/10
Snowshoe Inn must have upgraded some things as other reviews did not match my experience at all. New stuff: bedding, curtains, shower/tub. Likes: 2 hot tubs with next to pool with easy access from lobby, free breakfast buffet with a big variety of foods to choose from, great temperature controls in room, clean crisp sheets, puffy pillows, large bathroom, LCD TV, great reception, great channels, two beds, lots of drawer space, hangers, big bathroom, hair dryer that blasts hot air, ironing board and iron, big parking lot, carts for baggage, wifi in lobby. The restaurant has wonderful meals for low prices. I had the rainbow trout with pecan flour and cranberries, snapped peas, choice of potato. The meal was plentiful and outstanding for $16. Not to mention the lift tickets that came with the room. Things didn't like:The drive up the mountain. Although the road was clear this time, I know from experience that this isn't always the case. The wifi was kept cutting out the first night. When I complained about it I was not assured it would be fixed. Wifi only in lobby. Couldn't sleep one night so I spent some time in the lobby in my pajamas, lol..oh well, thems the breaks I guess. No cell phone coverage. Felt a little trapped because of it. Other than the two issues of having to drive up the mountain and no wifi in the rooms, I was amazingly happy. After all, I didn't go there to surf the net and it's not the Snowshoe's fault that WV doesn't allow cell phones. Just thought I'd mention it so folks know in advance that they wont be able to use their cell phone. I saved $200/day plus the cost of breakfast by staying at the bottom of the mountain at the Snowshoe Inn.

We could not wait to leave...so we left early.
By Moris, 12/25/09
Ok, althought the hotel seems cheap, it is actually expensive for what you get. This is what you get: cheap room with old dirty carpet old and noisy air con broken furniture broken table lousy housekeeping (did not arrive until 2pm next day) one soap and one shampoo 8 miles away from ski lifts no rental cars no shuttle buses to the actual ski lifts (You need to drive there) buffet breakfast: bread, potatoes, mushroom sauce. milk and cereals reception extension 6250 ( no one answers, you need to dial main Snowshow "0" and they will patch you through) NO ROOM INTERNET CONNECTION (maybe lobby) NO PHONE CONNECTION (and this is with Verizon) you will be better off looking at another place to stay and go skiing.

Horrible experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/09
I cannot think of one thing I liked about this place. When we walked in, there was a definite odor. Our room was *horrible*. The carpets were dirty, obviously not vacuumed before we came. The bathroom was dirty. There were holes in the wall and the corner of our ceiling looked like it was about to fall in. The towels all smelled soured. Nothing like showering and drying off with mildew-y towels. Also, there was no TV! We were there as part of a Little League baseball tournament - many many kids there and no tv! They said the cable was out. there is no cell phone service there. No computer access. It was not a fun experience at all. We actually planned on staying longer, but we, as well as 3 other familes left and found another place to stay. Definitely NOT worth the money at all. Would NOT recommend this to others. We actually got a discount since we were travelling in a big group so it was $89 instead of $127. Was still a bad experience all the way around.

great place for family wanting more than one room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/6/09
When my husband and I are traveling alone together, we usually stay at the Ritz Carlton or similar. When our preschoolers are with us, our top priority is a separate bedroom for them to share, a kitchen, and a pool and family friendliness. No scowling looks if the kids are being kids. This place has it all at a very decent price. plenty of room to spread out. It is a little ran down, but it's not below me. The pool was a great distraction and the little stores and grill across the street are great. amazing burgers. The staff was very, very nice.

Not the best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/28/09
I was very confused. It was not what we expected, at all. I mean I understand getting less for less... but no fridge? No coffee pot? Odd parking, and kinda dirty. All I know is that Hotel 8 is better than this place, and The Inn is supposed to be apart of a huge resort. Also... if they tell you that it's 'near everything' don't believe them...it's not... we were told that, and found out the 'hard' way... aka.. driving up and down the mountain A LOT!

Beautiful mountains and great outdoor activities!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/08
The Inn at Snowshoe is a clean and decent family oriented facility. I have taken my family a couple times and stayed there. It is not a high class Inn, in fact it could use a few touch ups but it is much cheaper and the indoor pool keeps the kids happy leaving a little more money for other activities on the mountain.

It's not the top but good enough for me
By darius n, 2/11/08
This place had a great deal $434 comes with two tix for two people for two days, two lessons, two rentals. fri, sat night. awesome deal esp. when I went with three beginners. couldn't ask for more. i never stayed in the room so service wasn't an issue and of course locations isn't the best but im not gonna spend $300 more to stay 10 minutes up the hill... we're students
