Wonderful Staff, Dated Facility
By AaronL, 01/26/10
Glade Springs is a nice resort that appears to have fallen on hard times. But the staff was wonderful, and my family had a very good time. There are a lot of things to do at the resort, and it's in a beautiful area. What they did best: Their spa offered the best "resort spa massage" I've had, including at some five star hotels. The food at Glade's Grill & Bar was excellent. They had numerous family-oriented events while we were there, and their staff was uniformly helpful. My wife had a great time singing karaoke at Bunker Sports Bar, and despite our weekend stay the staff knew us on sight by the time we left. Most of the food outside of Glade's Grill & Bar was uninspired, and sometimes overpriced. The pool party they threw, with live music, was fun, but the hamburger bar was uninspired. The breakfast buffet was pretty much standard hotel fare; it felt more like one that should come free with a room than a'la carte. Glade Springs fell short on maintenance. They have a large children's playground that is in desperate need of repair. Their Executive Suites are in pretty sad condition, particularly at their price point. I would not recommend them, even if they were substantially cheaper, unless I knew that they had been fully renovated.

Never Again
By Madam, 01/03/10
* What did you like and dislike about this place and why? I liked the location of the "Resort" and the beautiful scenery along with the golfing, BUT other than that, nothing at all. I stayed in an "Executive Suite" if that's what you can call it. When I hear the words Executive Suite I'm thinking, "WoW, A Suite. This place has got to be nice!" Was I ever wrong and VERY SURPRISED when I finally got in my room after making 3 trips back to the Lobby to get a card key that actually worked and seen my room with green Indoor/Outdoor carpet with no padding and stains everywhere. The small love seat along the wall green in color looked as if it was camoflauged with stains as well. The curtains looked as if they have been hanging since the day they were first put there, wrinkled, discolored and very dusty. The closet doors wouldnt hardly slide open because of being off track. I could go on about the condition of my room but Im pressed for space so I will move on to how MOST hotels and even cheap motels offer Complimentary Breakfast. Not Glade! Be prepared to eat cheap food at a VERY HIGH PRICE... Everything is High Priced. So be prepared to spend alot of money at this Resort if you decide to go. One more thing. Did you know that Now this Resort charges you an additional cost for housekeeping service? They say it is the housekeepers tip that is included in the price but I seriously doubt the Housekeeper/keepers ever see it. And since when is that Not Already Included In The Price? I had a chance to speak to a couple of the housekeepers that provided me service during my stay and I was very pleased with the service I received and the Conversations I was provided. I have much more RESPECT for these men and women now then I ever had. They have a very tough job! Of all the Employees I encountered at Glade Springs Resort, the Housekeepers were Curtious, Caring and Most Polite of all. They seem to care about their Guests being taken care of and that we are satisfied with our stay. And another thing. No names being mentioned, But a couple of the Front Desk Clerks need to take a course in Hospitality. Never in all my life have I ever been spoken to by someone in their postion so poorley and rudely. Like it was my fault the 3 keys they gave me didn't work.

Nasty
By Ez, 01/03/10
My family and I stayed at Glade Springs Resort in May of 2009 and was very dissapointed. We thought with the money we spent to stay there the rooms we had would have been much nicer than what they were. We paid around $3600.00 for two nights to stay in a "Chestnut Lodge" that had 3 commodes stopped up, 1 Bathtub that wouldn't drain and never could get anyone to send Maintenance to fix these problems. The Internet didn't work, the parking at our Lodge was terrible, some rooms had a fowl stench that smelled almost like raw sewage, wallpaper was peeling from the walls, dust and cobwebs everywhere... The only "Nice" thing we can say about Glade Springs was the Housekeeping Service. The Ladies & Gentlemen of that department were very prompt, considerate and very eager to help us in anyway they could. But that wasnt enough to want us to come back and stay again anytime soon. (the rating on Cleanliness is directed towards the overall rating of the Lodging and not the housekeeping services)

The Super 8 is better than this place!
By savy-shopper, 04/02/08
My husband and I went to Glade Springs and stayed in the Executive Suite. We had a 4 day, 3 night stay, and as much as I hate to say this, we couldn't wait for our stay at this dump to end! Our terrible experience began when we checked into our dirty room. The worst thing I've ever seen...there was SNOT all over the handtowels in the bathrooms! I couldn't believe my eyes! It was so gross. Someone had literally blown their nose all over OUR towels! The fridge had leftover food still in it and mold and grime so thick you could scrap it off with a spoon if you wanted. The hot water never worked and we had to take miserable cold showers each night. We reported it, but they just told us they were small water heaters. The doors to the rooms would not even shut..good thing the kids weren't with us! There was not even internet service in the rooms..and they call this a resort?? The Holiday Inn along with every other hotel now has free internet in the rooms. This place also charged for EVERYTHING!! (Even the morning papers!!) I needed a toothbrush, and there was a $2 charge for those cheap free hotel toothbrushes! We were led to believe that there was a complimentry breakfast in the morning, so we decided to go the first morning we were there. The food was cheap and disgusting. It was less than the quality of McDonalds food. The eggs were fake and the biscuits were hard and tasteless. THEN..they had the nerve to charge us over $25 for the small amount of gross food we ate..WITHOUT even telling us there would be a charge! Who ever heard of a hotel that charges for the morning breakfast??? And this is supposed to be a resort?!? And, YES, they even charge $2 for a glass of water. Beware: Don't go here unless you just have money to throw away on poor service and a snobby atompshere with no class. The only good thing i can even saw about this place was that the pillows and bed were comfortable..that's it! Certainly not worth the cost. Very disappointing. They will eat you up for every dollar you have!! If this is what a "resort" is, I will just keep staying at Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Suites!

Got Mice?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/05/08
Glade Springs has those too! We had to make sure our suitcases were kept off of the floor so we did not take one of those creepy vermin home with us! When we checked in we were given a "key" to the goody cabinet (should we choose to partake). However when we got to the room the cabinet was broken with a big "Out of Order" sign across it. What a great 1st impression of a "Resort"! Make sure you do NOT use a debit card for payment of any sort. This "Resort" more than double charged my checking account because they take "up front" money when you check in ($667 to be exact)----which they DO NOT tell you they are doing------ and then upon check out, they take the amount you actually owe ($515). SO YES.....I was very surprised when I got home and saw that my checking account was overdrawn! I had been charged over $1180 for a room that should have cost just over $500. I had to go through over 2 hours of long distance and local calls to get my money restored!Good thing we had brought cash or I would have had my card denied all over the place because they placed a hold on my money w/o permission! Then, all they had to say was "Sorry".....They are pathetic and very poor and unprofessional in their dealings with customer service. Find somewhere else to stay!!

Got roaches?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/02/08
They have them at Glade Springs. You may even find one in your food like I did. I am serious, folks. Stay away from this hole in the wall at all costs!

Good stop-over
By Craig, 12/31/06
We ( a golf group ) have used Glade Springs as a stop-over from Ohio for a warm-up round or two of golf on our way to North Carolina. The Cobb course is a fun track and in nice shape whenever we have played it, but the Stonehaven course blows it away. Stonehaven is a better layout and much more scenic. We will play it from now on and skip the Cobb. I agree that the food is average at best. In fact, since you are a captive audience with nowhere else to eat, you would think they would jazz it up a bit. You can drive back into Daniels to eat, but your choices are primarily fast food. The rooms are always spotless and I have not been for a couple years, but never before saw an additional cleaning fee. Must be something new. Great for our purposes, but wouldn't want to spend many days there with limited dining options.

Will visit again
By Terry, 10/25/06
The Inn was new and nicely decorated and very clean. The beds were comfortable with quality linens. The service at the desk was good and the staff was friendly.

Calling Glade Springs a "Resort" is truly a stretch.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/11/06
Unfortunately there is only one postive experience I can name, The Stovehaven golf course. We found the Cobb course resembles any public course in the US. Glade Springs is absolutely NOT a resort. There is no atmosphere, EXTREME lack of service, and very average food. I did not encounter any employee over the age of 25 and the lack of professionalism astounded us. Upon our arrival, we were pointed toward a baggage cart and were told to use that to manage our luggage. During our 3 days of golf, no one assisted us with our clubs or provided towels, beverages, etc. At checkout, we found we were overcharged 15%of our total bill. If you are considering a visit to Glade Springs, I would strongly recommend an alternative destination.
