very nice pool area....people very nice..food ok..but great free" breakfast...a good, not fancy place

I have been coming here since i was a kid like once every other year. This hotel used to be so nice now its been reduced crud. Last time we stayed here the rooms were very dingy and the food was sub par. Sadly, im going to have to find another hotel for our next trip to Harpers Ferry.

Had a party there and was charged for fruit platter that had fruit that was hard and green. Even hotel servers stated not to eat it...... Called to request that fruit charges be removed as not one of my guests was able to eat the unripened fruit. Was told that charges would stand. app. $ 400.00 worth of food charges on total.

It was a last minute decision for us as we were already in WV for a funeral. We checked out of another hotel and after the funeral we decieded to maybe get a place to stay near Harpers Ferry and sight see in the morning before heading back. We picked up some information at the visitors center and this was the first place we called. We were offered a good rate and even better one with my AARP card. It was clean, beds were nice and the staff was very friendly. Our girls enjoyed the indoor pool...even though it is small.

We reserved a non-smoking room and made sure they knew we were bringing our dog which is allowed. We checked in and were given a non smoking room in the main building. No hot water. the next mornining I took our dog through the lobby to go outside and were seen by staff. We then went sight seeing. When we returned about 2:30 p, our key cards did not work and I had them redo mine. Alittle while later, we approached the desk with our dog before leaving for more sight seeing to fix my wife's key card and we had our dog with us. At the desk were two staff and the manager and nothing was said. When we returned at 8:30p we were told they do not allow pets in the main building and would move us to a room in another building but we would have to stay in a smoking room. I told them I made a reservation for a n/s room that allowed a pet and call center accepted the reservation and they gave us a room. They would not honor are reservation so we decided to check out, but since it was after the "cancellation" time they charged us for the second night. The staff were very nice but the when they spoke to the manager on the phone, she siad she would not remove the charges. So because of their mistake, we were charge for a 2nd night or we would have to stay in a smoking room which would have been inconsistent with our accepted reservation. Would definitely not stay here again.

Its started ought ok. but thing went down hill quick. Toilet was dirty..mold all over. You will not get any sleep on weekends because of under aged kids at bar and roaming all over Hotel. Had a tire slashed on my vehicle. 1000 bottles of beer Sunday morning in parking lot. looked out my window and young men (18-21yrs) urinating on benches in front of the Hotel with no Security even with all these kids drunk all over the place! Its the worse place I have ever stayed!

Although tha location was great in relation to the historic park, the hotel was far less than desirable. Upon initial check-in, the staff was excellent. They were very attentive to my needs and desires and, in fact, reduced the rate that I had locked in on-line to save me an additional $10 a night. However, service declined from there drastically. The room was filthy to include a toilet that had black mold growing in it and a tub that I had to scrub myself to remove layers of soap scum. Fixtures were falling off of the walls, wallpaper was falling off, and the beds had fitted sheets that were too small for the bed which meant that with every roll at night, the sheets came off. The keys also had to be re-keyed every time I returned to the hotel. I chose this hotel partly due to the on-site restaraunt/bar. When I went in for dinner on a Saturday evening, I was told that only appetizers would be sold because the chef was new and had only been there a short while. Sunday evening, it was closed altogether. I will not be staying at this hotel again. Spend the little extra money and stay elsewhere.

I stay at this Hotel regularly and find it a great value. Business brings me here and the high speed internet is free and the staff is always willing to help. For the money it is a great clean comfortable place to stay. Don Desilets Lumus Construction Portland Maine
