Howard Johnson Airport, Kent

I was a little apprehensive as I pulled up to the lobby, the front of the building looked a little “rough.” But, based on previous quality experiences with Howard Johnson, I went in and rented a room. The clerk behind the counter was friendly and efficient. He checked me in and told me my room was located on the backside of the building. As I drove around to my room, my apprehension turned to revulsion! I passed the pool, which was thick with a green slim. The back parking area had one side bordered by a thin hedge (one that blocked the view into the parking lot, but did nothing to increased security). Another side of the lot had a cement wall. In the corner of the lot there was what appeared to be a broken down van. I got out of my vehicle and between it an my room there was garbage (used toiletries) on the sidewalk. The room itself seemed to be fairly clean. I looked back out at my truck and realized I would not be able to sleep with worry of something happening to it, or the tools it carried. I went back to the lobby and told them the room was unacceptable. They were very good about checking me back out and crediting my credit card.
