Thunderbird Motor Lodge, Virginia Beach

You'll love it give it a try . The service was great everyone who worked there nice as can be. Our room was not spotless but was clean for a beach resort , we have stayed in alot worse at va beach . I have read reliews of smells etc but there was nothing but the smell of the ocean from our room. I would tell everyone to stay at the thunderbird whenever you visit va beach for the price you can't ask for anything more

Very disappointed. Not only was the room dirty (such as food wrappers under the furniture)and smelly (strong smoke odor), the furniture was substandard (damaged and old - possibly from a flea market or thrift store), the bathroom fixtures were broken or missing (towel bars broken off and tub damaged) and there were wires hanging from fixtures. Very little parking - perhaps a dozen spaces for a hotel with at least 4 times that many rooms. The public, entry rooms appeared to have been updated recently but, the hotels room are disgusting! The ocean access / restaurant area appears to have become a smoking area with cigarette butts and trash everywhere. Keep a close eye on children and pets.

This hotel asks a premium price for a less-than-premium product. The hotel boasts that it has been newly rennovated. As we discovered this is absolutely NOT TRUE. Our room smelled terrible and was desperately in need of cleaning. We immediately left, forfeiting our required pre-paid first night's charges, and got a room at another hotel. We were able to stay next door at the Sheraton, a five star hotel, for $20 a night less than the Thunderbird is charging! Our advice is to RUN, not walk, out of this establishment.

We were very dissappointed in this hotel. The parking lot was quite small so we had to park behind a shop across the street. The room was supposed to be non-smoking and it stunk of cigarrette smoke. The light in the bathroom only worked if you flicked the switch on and off several times. The heat and air unit was very noisy and in-efficient. The elevator got stuck several times so we used the stairs a lot. We were on the fifth floor! For the high price of the room and being still in the off season we won't be staying here again and do not recommend this hotel.
