Worst hotel ever I stayed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/11
I booked in this hotel with my family for 3 nights. But we stayed only 2 nights. Because the rooms are not clean and its very bad smell. They say its a 3 star hotel with swimming pool and restaurant but its not clean. online photos are looking very good but the building is very old if there is power cut they don't have generator for the rooms, even they do't have single point with micro oven connection where we can heat up milk for the kids.

Great hotel, great service
By Stefani, 5/23/11
This is a great hotel for all needs. Check in took less than 3 minutes, the room and bathroom were perfectly clean and the employees were extremely nice and greeted us every time we walked through the lobby doors. This hotel has normal wear and tear but nothing major and certainly nothing to get worked up over as some of these reviews have. We didn't have a single problem with the elevators being slow and the indoor pool was great. I like that it is open from 6-11. It made it convenient to take my kids even while being busy most of the day. My only complaint was that the air conditioner was a little loud when it was on but from reading other reviews, I thought it might be so we brought a white noise machine and it solved the problem. It is in a convenient part of town with a lot of restaurants around, as well as normal shopping and a few parks. I was a little worried about staying there after reading some of the reviews but I am so glad we ended booking there and would absolutely stay there again!

Service is what it is about
By Happy Traveler, 10/15/10
This hotel indeed is older and even looks like a Holiday Inn that was converted to a Crowne. However, you do receive sincere service. They have Pepsi machines and I am an avid coke drinker. I asked if I could find coke anywhere and they do not have sell it anywhere on property. My next night, I returned to my room to find a 6 pack of coke compliments of the hotel. What a great price for personal service.

Bed Bug issue...
Dirty rooms, air conditioner issues and bites, lot of bites. I suspect this is the result of bed bugs and took precautions to prevent taking them home. I couldn't get out of there fast enough!! Not recommended until they thoroughly exterminate these pests.

Most Terrible Experience......
By Dixy_gal, 7/16/10
We had paid in cash for 2 nights stay. Around 4 am of our first night there, my husband got up to go to the bathroom, turned on the bathroom light and ROACH BUGS ran. He immediately went to the front desk and the night auditor moved us to another room (in the middle of the night). Later that day I talked to the GENERAL MANAGER who told me that they wanted to make things right for us, so she would be refunding both nights stay to us. She asked us to give her time to talk to her Accounting Department to see how to handle the refund since I had paid in cash. However, before we were getting ready to check out this morning, she only refunded 1 night stay and lied about saying she had told me she would be refunding both nights. There were other guests heard her say she would be compensating us for both nights. However, I have no clue who they were nor where to find them this morning. I was very discreet in letting her know about the ROACH BUGS, but had I had it to do over, I would not have been, I would have let all the other guest hear why I had a problems with this resort. I will NEVER stay there again nor would I EVER recommend it to anyone. It does not live up to the "RESORT" status that we have found when we stayed at other RESORTS.

We had a wonderful time
By B, 1/18/09
We stayed four nights. The room was spotless. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The indoor pool and spa and the fitness room were all very nice. Housekeeping was prompt and well done. We really had a wonderful time and couldn't have asked for anything any better. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Works well with large groups
By RCG, 10/31/08
I've stayed their a few times for private functions, they give a pretty decent group discount. Had a few problems with the staff interfering with our group & making us feel uncomfortable but after a brief talk with management it was ok. Never book the hotel bar for your events they charge $8 for a warm beer. The elevators were recently painted & made a few of us sick riding up to the top floor. The no smoking policy is harsh when youre on the top floor & need a cigarette ever 30min. The front desk service was great though I had lost my toothbrush while travelling & they gave me a new one plus a travel tube of toothpaste free of charge. The rooms are beautiful. The bed are extreamly comfortable. The second I hit the bed I didnt want to have to get back up again. The A/C though is old, loud & had trouble getting to the desired temp. & the hallways were overly warm. The bathroom in the handicap room was more than spacious but getting through the small hallway to the bed could be a little tricky & the desk right in front of the bed poses problems. The rooms all come with a sleep mask & ear plugs which come in handy with all hotels having somewhat thin walls. The linen mist however wasnt so pleasent I'm glad I tried it in the bathroom before using it on the bed. I would recommend this hotel to other large groups. For the price its hard to beat the service they offer. My group will use this hotel as long as they will have us.

Nice Comfy Beds!
By Mari C, 5/2/08
The place was very nice. The beds were extremely comfortable. The location is good because it's not far from things. Esp if you aren't too familiar with Richmond. I enjoyed it. I'd like to go back soon.

Good Stay
By wendell, 4/23/08
Crown Plaza Richmond West is an older hotel that has been renovated to Crown Plaza's standard. The extra touches with ear plugs, a sleep CD, and spray are inviting. The room was clean and the property well-maintained. The elevator used was slow, but accomplished the purpose intended. We would be very likely to stay again.
