Shockingly Disappointed...

First, the good: The check-in staff were pleasant and efficient. Now the rest...The room was in excess of 77 degrees and humid when I checked in-no problem, why cool an unrented room? Except that it was still 77 degrees 5 hours later! Called the desk. Nice maintenance guy came up, verified that the unit was working, but could be cooler, offered to move me. I'm all unpacked, and upon a promise that they could deal with it the next day, said I'd stay in that room. It never got below 73-74 in the three days I stayed there. Item 2: I always search(thoroughly) the room I stay in--habit from my employment and wanting to keep my kids safe when they were smaller. Well...under the bed I found a pink negligee, a pornographic magazine, and several beer cans(!?!); 35 cents in the corner; a pencil, lots of dust. I know the base of the bed is boxed in, but how do you not check this stuff? The rug was excessively stained, but I didn't realize how dirty until the third night there, when I stayed in to catch up on emails, work, etc...I was barefoot, walking around the room for a couple of hours. At one point I sat down, crossed my leg, glanced down at my feet, and saw that they were BLACK from the rug. BLACK! I was positively disgusted. Should have swapped rooms the first night, I guess. Actually, should have swapped motels. I wrote an email to the motel, and after better than a week or so, got a polite email saying that since I was a preferred customer, they would put 5,000 points into my account. I guess I can stay in another Holiday Inn and use the points(?) Since I didn't know I was a preferred customer, and don't care to repeat the experience, they will probably remain unused. I have stayed several times at Holiday Inns in the past and have enjoyed the stays. This was not one of those times, unfortunately. This place needs a thorough cleaning and an extreme makeover.
