Sun And Ski Inn And Suites, Stowe

My wife and I stayed here this past weekend, 6/13- 6/14 2009. We booked this motel through Vermonthotels.org, who charges a $17.40 booking fee, with a average $95.00 per night stay. It is also a three diamond AAA rating. When we checked in, I told the woman I would like a AAA member discount. She told me our rate was low as it was, and she couldn’t give me the AAA discount. After adding in their taxes and hotel fees, brought us up to $111.15 per night. Now the room. It was dated, but okay. The linen appeared clean and in good shape. There was sand on the doormat, as if the cleaning person tracked it in and forgot to clean it up. Taking a shower, the water was slow draining from the tub. It was past my ankles, by the time I got out. The refrigerator was unplugged, and had a bad order coming from, it when my wife opened the door. The ac unit was loud, but it help drown out some of the outside noise. By morning, the unit had iced up, and now longer throwing out cold air. Now the outside. The beautiful view of the river? Forget it. The brush had overgrown the river banks, making it unable to see the river. If it wasn’t for the sound of the rushing water, you would never known there was a river there. The cost for mini golf was $8.50 per adults. If you were a customer of the hotel, you would get a second game free. No windmills, no nothing, which takes the fun out of mini golf. They did have sand traps on each hole, but the sand was every where else also. The worker went by with a push broom, sweeping down the course every so often. I lost interested in playing after the 7th hole. We got our free games passes, but had no one to give them to, because we weren’t going to play again. The pool looked nice through the window, but it was closed at the time. A continental breakfast was served starting at 8am with one hot item. My wife and I decided to forfeit the second night, and checked out before breakfast was served.

I liked the location. It is very convenient to restaurants etc. I like having my car parked right outside my door. There is a slider that opens to a private patio and overlooks a nice lawn and the river and it is very peacefull. There is a nice covered pool and jacuzzi plus minature golf on the premises and you get a continetal breakfast every day. The staff is very accommodating and courteous. I have stayed here twice by myself but it is a nice place for families-a good buy in a nice location !

The hotel staff at the Sun and Ski motel were very unfriendly. The made our group feel very unwelcome and that we were an inconvenience to them. It was a very unwelcome aggravation that no one should have to deal with while on vacation - while spending thousands of dollars at their motel. I definitely would NOT recommend this motel for groups.

When I booked the hotel, I was looking for 4 rooms for 4 couples for two nights. It was suggested to me that one of their 3 bedroom condos would be a better value as long as one couple did not mind sleeping on a pull out couch.I accepted the recommedation. We checked into the motel, given a key and told we had to drive down the road to Mountain Resort where the condos were located. Upon arrival at the condo, we found the room had not been serviced. After calling the condo resort, they informed me that Sun and Ski did not advise them we were coming. The cleaning lady had gone home for the day, but they would get her back to service the room. The so called "bedrooms" were so tiny, that in one of them, the double bed actually touches 3 of the room's walls (how do they make the bed?)The bedrooms were not airconditioned and no ceiling fans.The nights were warm to say the least with no air circulating. We contemplated on leaving after the first night, but there was a motorcycle rally in town and everything was booked up. I don't know how the motel is, but if they suggest the condo.....don't accept it!
