By Str8 Loco, 07/29/08
Room Amenities Air Conditioning (In Room)Telephone Television (Cable/Satellite)Microwave Oven Non-Smoking RoomsDaily Maid Service Hotel Details 54 Rooms / 2 FloorsBuilt in 1963NoOfRooms - 55 Family RoomsFree BreakfastHot Tub KitchenetteEconomyHealth ClubHealth Spa/Massage ALL OF THE ABOVE IS NOT TRUE EXCEPT FOR THE AC AND FRIDGE. Now, Here is my experiance with this Scuzz Hole: I payed $50 for the room (Should've been .50) When I went in there There was piss in the toilet, there were doo doo Stains on All of the wash cloths and towels, The Room stunk like cigarettes and beer,There was Moldy Soup and Sandwiches in the Fridge,Not to mention The Fridge itself stunk like cigarettes. The AC Was Not AC it was a Heater. There were bugs crawling all over the bathroom, the shower stunk like cat piss, the carpet was filthy, the bed was filthy, very noisy neighbors, the door looked like it had been kicked in a bunch of times. the soda machine was sold out there was no vending machines for snacks or anything. not to mention the guy at the front desk woke me up at 9:30 and told me i had to be out, when really he told me i had to 11 when i paid for it. this place in all honesty needs to be shut the F*** down. I will never stay here ever again, and I will be contacting the health inspector. Whatever you do DO NOT stay here. SAve your money and go elsewhere.

Not ideal if you have any personal hygiene
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/08
Likes: walking distance to the shops in Montpelier Dislikes: Run down and very, very unclean. I went to get ice and there were bags of garbage with cockroaches crawling around. Piles of unwashed sheets, detergent near the continental breakfast items--which by the way, there is no breakfast anymore...surprise surprise, health code violation? I wouldnt pay any more that $40 a night and if you at all care about your personal hygiene, I would avoid it.

Would rather sleep in car!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/07/08
was sent here because the nearby Hillside Inn could not get us a new room (air was not working) owner sent us there- he owns both properties. Help at desk would not comment on economy inn - should have taken that as a warning! Looked terrible, decided to look at room - key would not work, outside carpeting was extremely dirty! People living there - one door was open and the room was in total disarray. Old computer monitor in staircase. Not a good way to start off a 10 day new england vacation! Went back to Hillside for a refund only to hear the staff sending more people to Economy because they were over booked. Please do not waste your time - everything that people have stated here is true!

Do Not stay here
By Scott, 05/25/08
First of all, the list of amenities for this place is not accurate at all. There is no fitness center, or spa, or anything like that. The management has let this place go down the drain in the past two years (after they were dropped from the EconoLodge chain,) and rooms are filthy and there is barely any housekeeping. Beds may not have been changed after previous guests checked-out. The towels and sheets are stained. Some rooms have very questionable wiring behind lights on walls and the phones do not work. Online pictures of this place (especially interior pictures,) are very out-of-date. Front desk staff person is the only reliable person on-site, and he tries, but the facility has been really let go by the owners/management. The few regular guests seem to be a very ragged bunch and certainly not people you'd want to have around children. No matter the price, this is just no value.

Deplorable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/25/07
I asked to change rooms because of the filthy bedding. The mini refridgerator had slimy gum in the freezer and a half-eaten month-old sandwich. There was no way to regulate the room temperature. The next room was even worse. The sheets were clean but there was human excrement on the bathroom floor!

A small dump
By Big Fred, 02/05/07
Don't even think you'll like this place even if your not paying big bucks. The place is far from being quiet. And the rooms smell of smoke.

What a dump!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/06
This place is a dump! I will never stay at an Econo Lodge again. I flew in from North Carolina to catch a Norwich football game and made the mistake of staying here. NEVER AGAIN. The room was filthy and had no heat. I had the office people up to the room twice regarding the no heat problem. It would work just long enough for them to leave. I did not bother calling them again after the third time because it was so late. When I complained in the morning while checking out, the manager was indifferent. No reduction in room, no apology, no nothing. He could care less. Filth and no heat may be acceptable in whatever country he came from, but not here in america. AVOID THIS DUMP AT ALL COSTS!

Shame on you Choice Hotels!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/03/06
We just checked out of the worst Econo Lodge ever. We have been staying in Econo Lodges and Rodeways for years and never seen anything like this. We got off exit 8 in Montpelier VT, a medal sign said Econolodge next right so we checked in(even though the lobby/office looked and smelled awful.) Our room was below standard. The in room coffee maker still had grounds in it from prior guests. There was no remote control and the fridge was not plugged in and warm and smelled of sour milk. Bathroom was filthy and had hairs everywhere. Never again.

The worst looking hotel I have ever seen
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/06
I went to book a room at this hotel. I pulled in and there were trash and old room furnishings everywhere pilled againest the hotel walls. The sign was non-existant, just a metal square drapped in tarps. I walked in to the front desk area and it was filthy, dirt and grimm were very much noticable. It smelled so bad I wanted to vomit. The guy saw me come in, and asked me if I wanted a room, I said I wanted to look at the room. He kept trying to push me to give him my credit card, like he didnt understand what I was trying to say. I told him flat out repeatedly that I wanted a key, to look at the room, because I was checking rooms in the area, to stay in. He finally gave me a key to check out a room. When I checked out the room, I unlocked it and didnt even want to touch the door handle, it was so grimmy and filthy. I stepped into the room, and it to smelled foul, the floor looked like it hadn't been vacummed or changed carpets since it was first build, the comforter, look dirty, old and raggy. Everything looking like it needed to be cleaned, replaced, or scrubbed down including the walls. I only spent a minute in there before I ran out quickly, went to the front office, threw him the key, and walked out. This hotel should be reported to the healthy board and shut down. You can stay at the comfort Inn off the berlin exit off I-89, or at the capital plaza in the middle of town, which is 1,000 times better!!
