Wow, what a difference a year makes!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/28/10
My previous visit saw a lot of upgrading going on, like new carpets, paint, bedding, windows, etc. The results are worth a stay in this historic hotel right downtown in Ogden next to the park and at the base of Mt. Ben Lomond. I peaked at the party rooms and the business conference rooms and they have been nicely renovated as well. The free hot breakfast is one of the best offered in my travels. The executive suites are the next best thing to staying at home, only cleaner. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The historical art work is a nice touch, especially the interior window historical photos. Views are breathtaking. The new owners are on the right track. Why whould you stay in a box room when a confortable suite gives you so much more room, 2 TVs and indoor parkiing.

Beautiful Historic Building
By Anna Gavan, 10/25/09
I have had business in Ogden for the last couple months and I have been staying at Ben Lomond Suites. Ben Lomond Suites is right in the middle of downtown Ogden so I have enjoyed being able to walk to a different restaurant almost every night of my stay. My favorite restaurants on 25th street are Tona's (Japanese), the Bistro (fancy American), Roosters (good pub food), and Brewski's (great $5 pizza on Tuesdays). As you can tell by my restaurant list I've been in Ogden quite a bit lately. My suites at the Ben Lomond have been very big and comfortable with great views (my favorites are of the mountains, but the city views are neat too). The common spaces of the hotel are historic with marble floors, neat ceilings and tons of chandeliers. I really think it is fun to stay in a hotel that is so uniquely Ogden and has so much history. Since I've been staying at the Ben Lomond so much lately I have run into the hotel's owner a couple times. It turns out that the Ben Lomond has new owners as of June 2009. The new owners have been working really hard to restore the hotel and improve customer service. It's pretty cool to see a hotel's service and physical appearance improve before your eyes. I'm definitely planning on staying at the Ben Lomond next time I'm in Ogden.

Do Not Waste Your Time Or Money On!
By RON, 6/16/09
Having been a seasoned traveler most of my life...experiencing good hotels and bad...Ben Lomond finally has convinced me to remember My Worst. Dim mood as you enter...bad experience with clerk (attitude problems)...and the room...Jesus!...condom left in drawer...mold in bathroom...and weird sounds from other rooms all night. Then they try to sell you on their condos...the gall. Whoever invest in this hotel will have regrets the rest of their lives...Wish had a lower rating system to rate my time here. Owners of this place really must be having a good laugh on the money they are stealing from people who invest. Hope the Gods of Karma get to them soon. Please be smart and checkout first if you doubt my rating. Thank You for at least reading and maybe saving you from rating this place too!

An awesome hotel with a great staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/21/09
I read the bad reviews on the Ben Lomond; however, I decided to call the hotel myself and ask them about these negative reviews. Nora, the hotel reservationist, is an exceptional person that provided me with the perfect room. After several phone conversations with Nora, I decided to give the hotel a try. I am happy I did. For ten years I have stayed at the Marriott in Ogden; I cancelled my reservation there this year for one primary reason: they let me bring my schnauzer with me. Our suite was great. There were two bedrooms, living room, and kitchenette. The room was very clean; the maid service was excellent. I cannot find anything negative about the hotel. Yes, it is an old hotel. Old hotels have charm. Ben Lonond reminds me of the Willard in Washington, D.C. or the Galvez in Galveston, or the Ponchartrain Hotel in New Orleans. The staff is accomodating; the breakfast is free and certainly ample. I have stayed all over the world in good hotels and in bad ones as well, but the Ben Lomond is a great hotel for the money, location, and the size of the rooms. I highly recommend the hotel and will not waste money in the future staying at the Marriott. the Marriott is very nice, but it cannot compare to the Ben Lomond.

New Changes New Happiness
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/16/09
I stayed here a month ago and was not too impressed however I gave them another chance this past weekend and was stunned by the changes. The hotel, the staff, the food, the area, everything is greatly improving. After my last stay the manager assured they were under new ownership and working hard to turn the place around. THIS time they proved and i can only say that if they keep on the road that they're on then I will hope to keep on the road right back to the Ben Lomond

Be afraid, be VERY afraid!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/5/09
Liked: Aside from the stripper bar next door, and "downtown" Ogden. Checking out of the place was the best! Disliked: The moldy carpets, the freezing room, the cold, fake scrambled eggs and nasty canned juices and stale bread and bagels, the luke warm shower, and the completley indifferent staff! This place was like being in a B-grade horror movie. The topper was finding a spent condom wrapper on top of the TV.

Okay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/19/08
Our room was okay, but had a few problems. One the sofa was broken and light bulbs had been removed from one of the lamps, leaving the room dark. I reported both and they were taken care of. The biggest drawback is that the hotel is located on a major intersection with lots of traffic = no sleep from the cars that sounded like they were dragging racing all night. I would not stay there again due to not being able to sleep.

Definately not a Bargain
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/17/08
The room was old and dated and not what was reported by the front desk when questioned. Deep Scratch marks on the bathroom door, low ceiling clearance in the bath/shower area, old worn twin or queen size bed when king was requested. Room fee was adjusted but didn't really make up for the bad nights unrest.

Historic Hotel in the process of renewing. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable, arcitecture (sp?)very 1920's. It is a nice place now, and set to get better ande better. Would not stay anywhere else in Ogden.

Very Disappointed!!
By Angela, 2/17/08
I was looking forward to staying at this hotel after my husband returned from serving overseas for 7 1/2 months. We originally reserved a two bedroom suite with a king bed and two full beds, and a jacuzzi. When we arrived to the hotel, we were told to only check in for one night so we would not be charged for two rooms. We were given a condo with military discount for $110. We were told the room would have a king bed and a jacuzzi. The room actaully had a queen bed and a one person jetted tub. It was extrememly small as well. Not what we were expecting. We decided to check out of the hotel and the front desk was kind enough to make another reservation to another hotel. Although the room was only $110, our account had a $400 pending charge. When we called the hotel the following day, we were told they could not help us until after the weekend of Monday or Tuesday. The parking garage is very intimidating. There are signs posted that there is 24 hour surveillance but there were no video cameras in sight. It was poorly lit, dirty and covered in graffitti. I was very disappointed and will never go back!!
