Bad Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/11/10
First room was unbearably hot...they could not get it fixed. Front desk gave me no help so I asked to speak to manager. He did eventually get us another room which was fine, the bathroom was just really small. The next morning the electricity went out in half of the room. They did fix this. The remote would not turn T.V. on and off. Yes maybe this is petty but this is supposed to be one of the finer hotels in Galveston. I also had to call housekeeping because the coffee packets were used and opened already. And again they did bring me replacements. We went down to use the pool and there were no towels. I asked for assistance and really got no where. One of the couples who appeared to be with the convention that was staying at the hotel asked for towels and was immediatly brought towels. I feel that we were being treated differently than those who were with the convention. This was not a pleasant stay at all.

We'll be back!
By Harvestmoon, 12/09/09
We visited the San Luis in the off-season (September) and it was just great. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the pool area was great, the service was good and you simply can't beat the location and the view. We parked in the back and it was quite easy, so if you don't want to use the valet parking, it's no big deal. We loved it so much we signed up for the New Year's party this year. (A blue moon that lands on New Year's, by the way.) The company was great too, but San Luis had nothing to do with that ;)

We Go Every Year !!! 0/8/09/ Stay
By Yachtsman, 08/26/09
The San Luis Resort, Galveston is 110% WONDERFUL ! Every staff person was extremely friendly , polite , and helpful with anything you would want or need from a 1st class resort . All this considering the hell they went thru with Hurricane IKE last year. I personally was disgusted with some of the other reviews I read. We will be back their next August For our annual Oil and Gas Exploration friends reunion. THANKS !!!

Phenomenal
By Coach P, 07/27/09
This was the best hotel we have stayed in, particularly from a service standpoint. We stayed on the 10th floor, paying extra for the room, but it was absolutely worth it. Considering its location, the hotel was also a great value. We would not stay anywhere else in Galveston. The staff made us feel like the rich and famous for a couple of days. Every staff member that we came into contact with at the hotel was very friendly, respectful and courteous. You will not be disappointed if you stay in Club Ten.

More Cons than Pros
By H, 06/18/09
Pros- Nice and clean looking, until you look. Not bad if you are the kind of person that needs to be pampered in public. Nice poolarea but see the cons below on this subject. The view was perfect, great seabreeze. Cons- Parking for customers is downhill and very few spaces. If you want to park in front you have to use valet parking, pay or suffer. The prices for things at this hotel are ridiculous, even for an "upscale" hotel. one sccop of ice cream $8.00. Come on, I can afford it but I won't, I'm smarter with my money thats why I have money. Pool area great except the waterfall, teenagers, and I mean YOUNG teens having sex in front of smaller children goes unchecked by hotel staff. Very obvious several nights in a row. Each time I went to my vehicle I was stopped on the stairs and asked if I was a guest and what my room number was. I guess I should have forced myself to use valet to keep from being questioned. You really should act like your rich by being "stuck up" you'll fit right in with the pretenders here. The guests were very obnoxious and loud (the 20 somethings) and had to be called down by myself several times for peace and quiet (at midnight). I might go again but I doubt it, the experience in Galveston left me with a sour taste in my mouth.

Poor Service
By sherry a, 10/27/08
1. We stayed at the San Luis hotel after Ike. They are one of the few hotels that are open in Galveston. We were on the 10th floor, “Club Ten”. On their website they say club ten guests are VIP, we were suppose to get extra stuff like champagne in our room, bathrobes, slippers ….Well we got none of that. The flat screen TV on the bedroom and the one in the bathroom wasn't working, the phone wasn't working, nothing seemed to work we asked front desk to fix and to send us champagne, we were ignored both times. At the time of check out we complained to the manager and got our rate down. They blamed the hurricane for it, which I think had nothing to do with ignoring our requests. Anyways, it's a nice hotel in general, pool area is nice, and food from steakhouse is really good but a bit pricey. They need to hire friendly people. The front desk people are very RUDE. She didn’t even apologize. I don’t think I would go back to this hotel again.

We won't be going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/08
First our check in time was delayed for almosr two hours. We were in the condo's and they couldn't get the owners out. We made reservations since May. My husband had surgery on his arm and needed a place to rest. We went to the pool area and tryed to get drinks which took 20-30 minutes to get a drink everytime. We where ignorded by bartinders which seemed to be more interested with blondes with large****. Everytime we needed to close out our bar tabs there was confusion and attitude from bartenders. In our rooms neither hair dryers worked and you had to manually work both tv's. There was no cream or sugar for the coffe pot. I felt like I was staying at a Motel Six instead of the fine hotel the San Louis I had come to know, I have visited this hotel for about six years and always left with a wonder relaxed feeling. I was upset and embarressed because we had talked a friend to come on this trip. There was a huge wade of hair in the bathtub

A great getaway from the city. Can't wait to go back.
By DELVIN, 06/24/08
My husband & I liked everything. We stayed on the park 10 floor. The hostess took us to our room and explained the amenities. She made us feel right at home. The room was fabulous. The flat screen TV in the bathroom. WOW! Champagne and chocolates. Bathrobes and slippers & delicious continental breakfast on our own floor that was served by a friendly hostess.
