Nice hotel...terrible service!
By Josh O, 4/1/11
During my recent stay on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, the hotel valet service wrecked my truck on the passenger side. The first response from the valet staff was that my truck was already wrecked down the passenger side. I can assure you that my truck is in pristine condition not to mention highly custom and nearly new. After arguing with the valet manager and hotel staff, they finally proceeded with submitting a claim to their insurance. Although the hotel claims that the valet service is 3rd party vendor, it struck me odd that the valet was insured through the Noble House Hotel Group who owns and manages the Adolphus Hotel. Their insurance provider will not send out adjusters to create estimates. In fact, you have to take your entire day to run around getting estimates tso that you can send them in to be scrutinized so that you can stress even more and have to contest every item on your estimate. The insurance company also will not cover damage to your tire even though there is sidewall damage where the chunk of wheel is missing that they damaged during the accident. I am still having to contest items on the estimates and take additional time from my already busy work days. Their parent company, Noble House Hotel Group, clearly stated that they cannot help and that I must take any issues up directly with their insurance company. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone as the only way for you to park is through their valet service who is obviously not held accountable by the hotel.

Not impressed with this historic hotel!
By smiley, 11/4/08
My expectations fell short upon entering the room. It was not very clean. There was something brown on the wall in the bathroom above the toilet paper holder not a place to put your soap in the shower, one outlet for your dryer, Huge old school tv, old alarm clock, the glass was not clean on top of the end tables,.I have stayed in Holiday Inns that were nicer then this. Also you pay a premium to park your car $20.00 a day!! The bell-man/concierge had no clue about our shuttle!! The maid knocked on the door at 7am!!! Its a 1pm check out time! I could go on and on. The hotel itself was breathtaking I expected the same with the rooms. Save your money!!

I will not use this hotel again.
By Will, 8/20/08
I reserved a room confirmation no 40F2A5 March 3, 2008 for the Women of Faith conference. The reservation was for Friday 8/22/08. I called to check on this room three weeks ago and was told they could not guarantee me two double beds even though that is what my confirmation states. On this date 8/19/08 I discovered that our reservations for the Women of Faith Conference at the Convention Center have been canceled and all the conference is being held at the American Airlines Center. I called the hotel to cancel and a very rude lady told me that sorry I did not meet the cancelation policy of 72 hours. I told her this was beyond my control as I did not know the convention center would be canceled. She told me you have a hotel to run and it was not her fault. And if I did not keep the reservation I would be charged anyway. I have traveled all over the country and when things like this come up hotels have been very gracious to make the necessary cancelation without any charge. I will notify the Women of Faith to not put your name down as a recommended hotel in the future, after all this is a Christian women's convention and your practice and manner in which I was spoken to was less than Christian like. How disappointing to find out a hotel of this stature responds like this.Diane K. Walter8/19/08

A little disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/22/08
The Adolphus simply does not compare with hotels such as the St. Regis in Houston. There was no one to open the door for us and help with baggage when we arrived. The man who checked us in was snippy, rather than gracious. This same person acted entirely put out when I was locked out my room and my card didn't work, and very disagreeably asked, "You don't have your ID?" I did have a pleasant young Hispanic man rush to my side when he saw I was having difficulty with my baggage as I was leaving and he was gratefully tipped well. The outside person arranging for transportation needs a little more personality, but he did hail a taxi promptly. The rooms were spotless and the room service was excellent (ordering, delivery and quality). Our room was on a corner of the 18th floor and very noisy with all the commotion from street traffic. All in all, I would suggest the Adolphus put employees at the front desk who know how to be gracious to all in every circumstance. Their "hospitality" leaves something to be desired.

Bad Experience
By _____, 1/29/08
I was excited about the prospects of staying at this "supposed" 5 star hotel. Reality set in when I entered my room. It was large and roomy but this was due to the sparse furnishings. The web site promised flat screen TV's with DVD's. My room sported a 10 year old Philips 19" "fat boy" without even so much as a VHS connection. The carpet, love seat and chair exhibited stains that I dare not discuss in mixed company. Normally I would not have noticed, but the fitted sheet would not stay on the bed. The mattresses were from abhorrible. I threw away a set of mattesses far superior last week. I've seen better mattresses propped up by the dumpster ready for disposal. For the money, the Hyatt Regency Reunion is a much better choice. The French Room was awesome but a little pricey. $325 for two with drinks and tip. I stayed in room 523 on 1/25-1/27 2008. Catch you at the Hyatt next time.

you pay for everything
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/25/07
It was luxurious but you are charged for extra things like in-room coffee. The lights were not all working. But we got a good price so I can't complain.

Disappointing
By Julie, 5/18/07
The light above the desk was out, the light in the vanity mirror was out, there was about 1/4 inch of dust on the sconces in the bathroom, and there was minibar food left on the end table in the sitting area of our room. The employees were the only good thing about the hotel. Very helpful, very nice. I had heard so much about the hotel and had gotten recommendations from websites and friends. Ultimately we stayed there because it was the closest hotel to our venue. I would not recommend it, nor would I stay there again.

Southern Hospitality
By CijiM, 5/1/07
I was there for a convention and the hotel staff remained consistently pleasurable even in the face of 10,000 tired, cranky executives. Everyone greets you with a smile and addresses you as "Ma'am" or "Sir". It's in the heart of the revitalized downtown and close to the new scene there, and a brisk walk to public transportation or the convention center. The guest rooms are spacious and clean and quiet, and they have DVD players on the TVs and free WiFi! My only complaint is that the elevators run a bit slow, but with a full hotel, this was to be expected. Fortunately, the stairs were clean and safe to use.

NICE HOTEL
By sk, 12/12/06
I visited the Adolphus on Sunday December 10th 2006 on business. The hotel is very elegant given that it is a historic building. The room was spacious and clean with a pretty bathroom. The ballrooms were nice, not too cold and the catered food was delicious. The staff were all very friendly. The gift shop was a nice size packed with all kinds of expensive things!! I bought a refrigerator souvenior magnet for $5.99 and a snickers (regular size) for $1.50. Yes $1.50!! There is a sports bar and an italian restaurant on the backside (around the corner) of the hotel for those who are interested. The concierage and bellhop were very helpful and friendly. My room only had a 19' tv but coworkers said they had 32 inch ones. Overall this was a nice place. I didn't get to venture out but there were plenty of taxis available for those that need them. The airport was about 25-30 minutes away but the ride coming and going was not bad.
