Wyndham Garden Hotel Austin, Austin

I have to admit I was a little nervous after I booked the room at this hotel then found some bad reviews online that mentioned my worst nightmare: bedbugs....however, I called the hotel and they assured me that they had one complaint, had it addressed, and informed me that the health department had inspected after the complaint. I was still nervous, so the staff member moved us to the top floor in a room extremely far from the area of the hotel in question. They were very polite, and must have placed a note in the system because when we arrived, the front desk person knew my concerns and was very polite and helpful. I did a little inspection of my own based on articles I found online before we set our stuff down, and did not find any evidence of bedbugs. With that concern out of the way, we found the bedding was AWESOME, and the beds were very comfortable. I am home now, and I wish my bed felt that nice! The room was large, and had a lot of desk/vanity space to put our bags on so we didn't have things setting on the floor. Also, the water in the shower hot enough for me to take a good steamy shower which is rare at a hotel. I forgot my shampoo and soap, and was happy to find that I actually liked the hotel soap. The front desk even booked us two cabs so that we could go out that night with our friends. We ate breakfast at the hotel in the morning. This was my only real complaint. I felt that the breakfast menu was really overpriced for food that was just 'ok'. Overall, I feel that this hotel was a good value simply based on the customer service and the bedding. I would stay there again. I would just suggest foregoing the breakfast menu.

Wonderful suites out by the pool. We stayed with 3 adults and rooms were very spacious as was the living room area. Clean and very comfortable beds. We appreciated the two entries. Definitely will go back.

I stayed on the 4th floor which was brand new and what I really appreciated was the wrap-around desk unit. It was set up with plugs right above the desk and there was at least 7 feet to spread out. The safe in the room was the largest I've seen and it was hidden in a cabinet under the desk. Herman Miller webbed desk chair and the lights in the room were both pretty cool. In addition, there was a pull-out table which was great for room service and also spreading out work. The armchair was a leather recliner, and the wireless internet connection was fine. The bed was the typical Marriott/Hilton/Wyndham upgrade - soft pillowtop mattress (I'd personally prefer a concrete slab, but not many do), all white duvet, way too many pillows. The main disappointment was that the restaurant looked almost finished but it wasn't opened yet and the bar where they served dinner was old and dingy. They served breakfast in a corner off the lobby. It was somewhat annoying to have to pay a surcharge for room service under these circumstances. Overall, the food was palatable, but mediocre. I was told the restaurant would reopen before March and that they will have a new menu. I liked the artwork with the Texas theme and the outside of the hotel is attractive. This is a good location if you have a car (free parking) but too far to walk to downtown. The staff seemed pleasant enough, and I really didn't have any problems. If the whole dining situation had been better (plus more interesting food for the price) I would have given this hotel a five star excellent rating. However, I don't want to spend the whole time in the room no matter how nice it is, so it gets four stars for now.

This property is in the middle of a renovation. I arrived at about 11 PM after a 4 hour drive following a 12 hour work day. I was not pleased! I was put in one of the un-renovated "cabana suites". It was ugly and run down. First thing in the morning I asked for a "real room" and received a newly renovated room in the main building. Whew, modern furniture a nice leather recliner and good bedding made for a more comfortable and safer feeling stay. The property is located on I 35, while it makes freeway access easy it adds time for travel as the frontage road is one way. It looks like when the work is complete is will be a nice place. Maybe wait a few months for them to get the kinks out. Or at least make sure you get a new room! Like most hotels with wireless the signal in room is weak.

I made this reservation at priceline and I can think of nothing pleasant about this place. A real classless place run by people who don't have a clue what they are doing. ONe disappointment after another. I called three times from the hotel before being picked up and hour after arriving. My car was broken into (window shattered) while I was away and they never called me. It sat wide open in their parking lot for 10 days. That was pleasant to come back to. NEVER contacted me after this whole fiasco to resolve anything. Avoid avoid avoid. No price is worth it.

Unless you count the very old mustard gold touchtone phone in the bathroom, this is a no frills hotel! When I saw the sign for karaoke night, I thought it meant in the bar. How surprised I was to get to my room after dinner and find that Karaoke night is out by the pool and of course my room faced the pool. Maybe that’s where they stick the people who book on Orbitz. The tortue didn't end until 11:30 pm. So, if you like trying to sleep while listening to some chick do her best impersonation of Pat Benetar signing, "Love is a Battlefield", this is the place for you. When we complained numerous times, the best they could say was “Why didn’t you come down and join us?” Argh!!! Don't get me started on the internet service in the business center. It took five minutes just to get the home page to come up. If you need to print out your boarding pass, do it the night before while you are waiting for Karaoke to end.

This hotel is located in a great place with easy access to downtown Austin. Even though remodeling was going on, the hotel was quiet and clean. Rooms were nice...even the floors that had not been remodeled to date. Great!

This hotel is under construction and is a mess. The staff was very accomodating but did not make up for the fact that ROACHES infested our suite. Not 1 or 2 roaches but what seemed like hundreds. The cleanliness of the entire property was less than desirable. The "general manager" who was unhelpful and insincere was a perfect match to this run down establishment. The Austin experience was fabulous but staying at the Woodward hotel was the most awful hotel experience in my life. My family and I will never return. Please be advised to search for another accomodation.

Hotel is under construction but appears to be headed in the right direction. The staff were very helpful. Starting with the front desk, to the waitress at the lounge to the maintenance man who fixed my tv. Great price for the location.

Like the previous review, some of the outside "Club" rooms were disgusting but after bringing the manager there they gave me a newly renovated room in the main building. Else I was out of there. In their defence they are new owners and renovating the place. It should be OK when done and a value at ~$70. DONT accept the poolside rooms though unless they've been renovated. On a positive note, the staff were excellent.
