Relax Inn, Marlin

I know there have been several days of 100+ degree weather in Central Texas this summer. Well while on a visit to my hometown, I chose to spend the night at the Relax Inn being a local chain. What a mistake! Upon entering the room, my breath was immediately taken away due to the heat. The A/C was not on and hadn't been and the night attendant failed to tell me. The beds were hot, the floor was hot, it was just hot in the room. I didn't get the room until 10:30 PM. Anywho ... I turned the AC on and left to allow the room to cool. I was gone for over an hour. When I returned, it was still HOT!!! There was no way in hell I could sleep in this place. So, I returned to the front the desk two hours after getting the room and returned the key. Do you know these people would not refund my money!!!! I will never stay at the Relax Inn again!!! You have definitely lost a customer, Some people may be accustomed to sleeping hot but not me!! Be ware!!! Don't waste your money here!!! And I am a former Marlinite!!!!

We have stayed at this motel a number of times and it has it's good and bad points. On the good side it has a lot of amenities like a small table and chairs, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, iron with board, and clock radio. The management seems friendly and helpful and it is inexpensive with most rooms around $50 and they keep the rooms clean. They do have an internet connection. One thing I don't like is the size of the bathrooms which the bathtub takes up almost half of the space, leaving very little space between the tub and door. Another is that it is hard to get to from the south. You either have to drive across a chughole filled driveway in back of the carwash from FM-147 or you have to go past the motel on HWY 6 and turn around near a car dealership and come back. Some of the repairs and repainting in the rooms look pretty amateurish. They had a pool, but they don't operate it any more and a pretty good restaurant next door is now closed.

This place was very clean. It had easy access to Hwy 6 which was very helpful. Easy access to store with gas and a deli.
