Desk Staff has no customer service

The location is what brings everyone of their guests to them. It's directly off the highway. This seemed like an ideal location for my friends and we hoped the rate would be reasonable as well since we were on a budget. Despite popular opinion, I would rather stay at a local owned hotel because I own a small hotel in Georgia. Since I own a hotel, for some reason my friends always choose me to decide where we should stay. Nice guys! So, I walk up to the lobby and try to open the door and it is locked. I see the man inside who appears to be the night desk staff who is talking to a young woman. He starts walking toward bullet proof glass and informs me the lobby is closed. I then asked the young man if he had any rooms available for the night, preferably something with 2 doubles. He said he needed to see my id. I then took it out of my wallet and put it up to the bullet proof glass. He said, "We don't work like that". I said, "you can see it right there." (First of all, I just wanted to see if number one, he had any rooms available and number 2, what the rate was.) I haven't even "asked" to look at a room yet. I can see if I had asked to look at a room, then I would have left my id with him. At my hotel, we take no chances, we walk the guest to the room. I told him that I was not giving my id to him. He then turns his back to me without saying one word and goes back behind the desk to continue his "business/conversation" with the young woman. I guess King's Lodge did not need the business that night even though the parking lot was not full on a Saturday night. I would NEVER recommend making a reservation here and would choose another hotel from plenty others in the Chattanooga area. No potential guest to a hotel needs to be treated so disrespectfully. We ended up staying in an Econo Lodge just 5 minutes south. Their night desk staff was professional, rooms were clean, and the rate was better than what we expected.
