Like: Friendly staff, comfortable bed Dislike: Indifference management personnel. Pool broke down while during the time that were there. Phone does not work, toilet paper dispenser falling out of the wall, ice makers on every floor were broken and the only one that's works was by the pool lobby. Cheap breakfast, had to beg for butter. Either coffee or juice, not both. Needs fixing up to be turn into a decent hotel that it once was.

This place is hot, and I mean like burning hot. The hotel staff turn off all of the room's air conditioners, leaving the renter to wait about thirty minutes for a room to cool off. It's July; it's already hot. Also, there's something strange about this place. The hotel is divided into different areas, making it hard to navigate. We had to travel halfway across the hotel just to find our room, which was on the fourth floor. It's ridiculous. Did I mention it's hot?!

I live in Memphis and went to check it out for friends coming to town. It's had several million dollars worth of renovations and is very nice. Restaurant is under new ownership, staff is new and helpful, rooms are nice, lobby is gorgeous, nice pool and workout room. Don't confuse it with hotel/s it used to be, this is a really great place! What they are charging for rooms in the area for quiet, inside entry rooms is a steal, especially for such a nice place. I gave 3 stars for service because they don't always answer the phones like they should. But don't give up calling them.

Manager was rude and obnoxious. Some of the staff were nice but most did not even speak English. Pakastani was their language of choice. Sprinkler system busted and our clothes and cell phones and wallets were soaked. Firemen stated it was a defective sprinkler system yet the manager insisted it was our fault. Firemen also told us fire escape doors were locked. No refrigerators or microwaves in room. Charged $10 per night for each subject to availability. None were available.. Ice machines did not work. Doors to the outside did not lock and one actually had no door knob. Manager was inconsiderate and never asked were we and the children alright, did we need anything. No empathy at all whatsoever for the trauma and loss of items that we had. Will never stay here again.

I stayed here while working an out of state IT assistance issue with a company based in Memphis. Don't get me wrong, this hotel is very nice- but when I was there, it was undergoing major renovations and some areas were really in basic need of some work. Do NOT worry about the staff, they are VERY helpful & will assist you with any requests. That's what I loved about the place. If you need to eat, restuarants are right there with you, Perkin's, Ruby Tuesday, Sonics, Krystals, etc.- take your pick. What bothered me, is that as soon as the double doors slid open, I was hit in the face with that musty smell, like some water pipe somewhere burst and wasn't repaired all the way. My room, although large- was cleaner than I expected, but there was no fridge in the room. I also didn't see an ice machine, but the drink machine worked- so I just went ahead and spent the 1.50 per on Dasani bottled water. There were also a few other cosmetic issues that I'm sure will be addressed by the time the hotel makeover is finished. The hotel DOES have WIFI, but the signal is very weak. The bathroom looked to be very clean, but I scrubbed it down with my own can of Lysol just in case. I also went out and bought a can of air freshner that I sprayed around the room to get rid of the musty smell in the hallways and in the room when I got there. Because of the price per night (and the fact that it didn't cost much), I would say that if you need a place to stay in case of an emergency- then you'll save some money here- it depends on if you're only needing a place for a few nights like I did. I can only recommend this place for someone who doesn't have a lot of money already. However, if you're here on a sightseeing trip or anything of the sort and you're staying a week or longer, go ahead and pay the extra money to stay someplace where you'll be more comfortable. That way, you'll be more focused on your trip, and not on your hotel. I hope this review helps you.

We were forced to evacuate for Hurricane Gustav. Our first hotel, which we stayed for 6 days, was not top of the line, but nice. When we found out we were approved for FEMA, we had to go to a hotel that FEMA would pay for. Because Hurrican IKE was on the tail of GUSTAV, our choices were VERY limited. MEMPHIS PLAZA had room for us for another week and was FEMA's approved lodging plan. Checking in was a breeze. The man behind the ounter was as happy as we were that he could put us into the system and FEMA automatically approved us. He, the cleaning lady and Cherry were the most pleaseant part of the stay. I have often heard the phrase "you get what you pay for" and in this case, it could not be more true! This was by far the worst experience I hve ever had. My 15 yr old son tried to turn on the lights: no light bulbs. lamps were plugged in without any light bulbs. My husband went down to request light bulbs. Unloaded our vehicle into the room.. we noticed there were no pillows on the bed. Called down to the front desk. They replied that houseleeping was gone. So.. we had no pillows. Thank God we brought a couple from home. The room had 2 double beds. One was totally broken (the metal frame) in half. We wanted to take a shower, went to the bathroom, no towels. My husband went BACK to the front desk where we obtained some towels. The hotel advertised free Hi-Fi internet. What they did NOT say was that the internet area was a place in the pool lobby, which had no lighting at night, so could only be used during the day. When we inquired about this, the front desk clerk said the manager was in New York and she did not have access to the lighting for that area. The indoor pool was disgusting. It looked like mold and meldew and fungi surrounded the floor, and the pool itself. Everything was nasty. My husband and son went to use the men's room in the pool lobby, opened the door and gagged at the smell. The bathroom was so sickening that he could not even use it. FEMA was paying for our stay, but none of us felt safe enough. That night when we went to sleep, I slept on top of the covers. The sheets were stained and did not look clean. Needless to say, we checked out the very next morning.

THE SERVICES WAS GOOD, MONEY WILL SPENT, HOWEVER UPGRADES ARE NEEDED N THE DRIVE WAS A LITTLE BUT WHEN YOUR RUNNING FROM AN HURRICANE DISTANCE DOESNT MATTER.

The service was wonderful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was very comfortable and the location was perfect for restuarants and shopping. You could tell the hotel was old, but just like people, we still keep them around and go see them. I will be visiting there again.

Don't expect to be catered to or things to look new... but for the money, it was great. I am sure at some point this was a real swanky hotel and now the important things are being maintained. The staff was courteous and available and there was an onsite bar that seemed to have customers all of the time. The pool area was great.. pool was cool and refreshing and hot tub was hot and all was in good condition. The hotel was clean but it just seems worn and the A/C perhaps was struggling in the 4 story common areas where the elevators are. Our King Bed room was very nice... good big tv, big clean bathroom and massaging shower with good water pressure and plenty of hot water was a plus, we got on WIFI on the 4th floor even though it was only offered in the common area by the pool, room had a new A/C unit so it was comfortable despite the 110+ heat index. Our 6 year old loved the place. To her it was exciting and fancy. Great value for the money. Expensive places were all around it that offered much less for the money besides a more familiar name. We will stay there again as we travel thru Memphis regularly.

The hotel is in need of major repairs. In one room the sheets were stained when we entered the room. There is no Wi-Fi internet in every room. There is a lounge where you can get internet from a laptop computer. The bathtub's paint was chipping, but was covered by a mat. The pool area did not look appealing to me. The room served its purpose, I received restful sleep.
