Great stay!
By ,
Clean rooms. Super friendly staff from the front desk to the lounge. The down pillows were a great touch. The exercise room was very convenient. The lounge had GREAT food and they had a full bar. Although the lounge was smoker friendly, it was still very nice. Friendly bartender and chef. The breakfast was surprisingly good. The pool and hot tub convinced us to stay one more night! Would definitely stay again!

I won't stay here again.
By ,
Clarion belongs to Choice International group of hotels. It is a poor choice in my opinion. The good news is the room was clean, the water was hot and we had towels. The bad news was managements decision to book a concert in the atrium common areas. We could hear the rock music Friday night from 9 until 1:00 am and Saturday night from 10 until 12:30 am. The hotel was full so they couldn't move us. The desk staff was very professional but no managers were available to complain about the noise. The managers basically left the staff hanging in the wind to deal with the complaints. There were at least a half dozen of us both nights complaining about the noise. We tried to leave but there were several events in town and all of the other hotels were full. We were visiting family and couldn't go to another town. I finally got speak to a manager Sunday morning when I wanted my room rate reduced. I was handed a cell phone to talk to her. She was very rude and basically told me if the noise was too much I was free to stay somewhere else. She reduced the rate for Friday but said she wouldn't do anything about Saturday since I didn't have to stay there. She didn't care that we were visiting family and couldn't go anywhere else. She told me that there were 1500 hotels between Nashville and Knoxville and I was free to stay at any one of them. At this point she hung up on me.

Not bad, nice price.
By ,
After reading so many bad reviews about this place, I was hesitant to make a reservation. But, they offered the best price at the time that I was looking for a room, so I went for it anyway. Glad I did, because this place really isn't bad, especially for the price. The facility obviously is not new, but it is decently kept. The room was clean and comfortable, and the lobby/pool area is really nice. It was a busy place while we were there. The front desk staff were pleasant. The free breakfast buffet was good. The only complaint I can think of is that the staff were not clearing plates off the tables after guests finished eating and left. My boyfriend and I had to eat at a table with empty plates stacked up on it. Not a huge deal though. I would stay here again unless I found a better deal.

bad reviews were misleading
By ,
This hotel had really bad reviews, but we booked one night there for our sons' graduation. Three of us stayed and saw nothing that wasn't clean. They had a great indoor/outdoor pool, beautiful lobby, very conveniently located, etc. I would have no reason to stay elsewhere when in Cookeville, TN. May 02, 2008!

Poor Service
By ,
I made reservations for a children's baseball team. Two weeks before we were scheduled to arrive we were told the swimming pool was being renovated but should be finished by our check-in time. I was told the room rate would be discounted if the pool was not ready. Upon checking in, the pool was not completed, but was told it would be ready by the evening time and therefore was charged the non-discounted rate. The pool was not completed by the evening time. I went to the front desk to insist on the discounted rate. I was told there would be no discount. I feel I was lied to. I have stayed here for the past five years and feel the motel was great then. It is not so great any more. It is not the price or amenities that will prevent me from staying here in the future. It is the fact I was lied to by the management of the hotel. Honesty should not only be expected, but demanded in any kind of service oriented business.

Do Not Stay Here
By ,
This place is a disgrace to the Holiday Inn chain. Card keys that didn't work, or worked for an hour and then stoppped working for no reason. One in our party had 8 different sets of room keys! One in our party must use a wheelchair and the ramp had been removed and the poolside lift was "Out of Order" which made it extremely difficult to get around the hotel. The management showed little interest in correcting the situation. It went from promises to get the ramp in place to excuses as to why it wasn't in place to the realization that management never intended to do anything. There are much better places to stay in Cookeville.

We won;t stay there again
By ,
The things that I didn't like about this Holiday Inn was the fact the desk clerk wasn't there and I had to wait and she wasn't very friendly. The room wasn't cleaned that good. The bedspreads were dirty. The room had spiders and I couldn't sleep very well becasue of that, the only reason I stayed in the room was because my Mother who is 83 years old and not able to walk very far and she was really tired becasue we had been driving a long distance and she was too tired to go on. The bathroom wasn't all that clean and the carpet wasn't very nice looking and dirty looking. Besides that the room cost me $84 dollars. We always stay at a Holiday Inn or a Holiday Inn Express when we go on trips. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Pa. and the room we got was just a few dollars more and that was a suite. I was there on Sunday 11th and was in room l26 and my name is Mary Henderson and I live in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Dining with a Mouse and No VPN Connection
By ,
I've stayed at this hotel a couple times and I must say that it is well priced. My children especially like the indoor/outdoor pool. My major gripe is one I've had at another nearby Holiday Inn. Their new wireless internet implementation blocks business users who connect to their office networks by IPSec VPN. This is very frustrating and it took many many calls to technical support to address the problem. Another problem though that did distress me though my children thought it was funny is the cleanliness of the restaurant. It really doesn't look very clean and the staff seem somewhat lazy. The issue of cleanliness was driven home when my children spotted a mouse cruising around the dining room looking for crumbs. The staff didn't seem to fazed by the incident and it seemed like they were used to it. Hopefully, nobody gets sick from the food there...
