A good place to stay in Hot Springs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/17/08
We have stayed at this motel many times over about a 20 year period. This year we stayed four days (June 4 - 8). The motel is under new management this year and they are very attentive and friendly. I agree that the previous owners were not the friendliest, probably stressed from the work and needed to get out. The "breakfast" is not what you might expect, but there is coffee, juice, cereal, make-em yourself waffles and bagels. Good enough start for most, and if you want more, restaurants are close by. My advice would be to have a light breakfast and save your appetite for lunch at the Sage Creek Grill in Custer. There can be issues with any stay anywhere -- such as our towels not replaced one day and our air conditioner needed to be fixed, but these problems were remedied quickly and cheerfully. The service was no less than what we had recently at the Grand Hyatt in Seattle although the accommodations were nicer at the Hyatt (cost 4x as much though!). The location in Hot Springs is very nice and overlooks a variety of sandstone buildings along the main street through town. The traffic noise mighty bother some during the day but it is relatively quite at night. The rooms are basic but spacious, nothing deluxe but clean and decent. If you in the area to enjoy the southern Black Hills, I recommend giving this place a try.
