The Reef, Myrtle Beach

i will say the price was ok for what you get, i guess... the beds were what i found to be the worst issue, i came here with my grandmother for mothers day weekend and got a double bed suite, the beds were full size small beds that are hard as rocks, AWFUL... i was told there was suppose to be a lazy river, there was not, staff was ok i guess, room size was fine, oh and also the water isnt very hot in the rooms, the shower took FOREVER to heat up... but wont stay here again cause i believe the bed is very important

This hotel had a great children's activity room and huge pools. We liked the oceanside restaurant and tiki bar. I didn't know what to expect from the reviews, but it was great--staff overly friendly. We stayed on the top floor and the room looked fairly new. They said they had brand new elevators and they flew us to the top--13 floors. The fireworks on the beach for the 4th were a sight to see! I would definitely return. Great prices to be oceanfront. We all had a great time. Only negative, parking got tight, but it was the 4th of July.

I stayed at the The Reef Resort in October 2008, the hotel and the rooms were clean and very nice, BUT I had an MP3 Player stolen out of my room. If you do stay at The Reef DO NOT leave anything of value in your room. I can not recommend this hotel unless you take everything with you when you leave the room.

MY FAMILY AND I HAD A WONDERFUL TIME AT THE REEF. IT IS NOT A LUXURY HOTEL BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. THE HOTEL DOES NEED SOME RENOVATIONS HOWEVER, THE STAFF WAS AWESOME. WE ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE THERE. THE CLEANING STAFF REALLY DID A GOOD JOB OF MAKING YOU FEEL AT HOME. THE KIDS LOVED THE POOLS AND EVERYONE IS EXCITED TO RETURN THIS YEAR. EVERY ROOM IS OCEANFRONT AND IT IS REALLY WONDERFUL. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A LUXURY HOTEL, THEN LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A COMFORTABLE PLACE TO STAY WITH OCEANFRONT ROOMS FOR A GREAT PRICE, THEN THE REEF IS RIGHT FOR YOU!!!!

loved the ocean and the beach. the hotel looks nothing like the photos, its real bad. there are 2 elevators and they had only 1 working half the time someone puked on the floor next to the elevator on the 12th floor and it lay there for 2 days. they vacumed it up but it still smelled and they didn't bother with the stain it left. staff was not real friendly either nor did they seem to care about anything except taking peoples money my wife and i would never stay here again. we had a room with a balconly but with the ac venting out on it, made it to hot to sit out there

our first trip to the beach was awesome! we didnt want to leave, but our hotel was booked solid for the xtra night. the reef was the only one we could get a room at. now i know why! the view was very nice, but the room wasnt very clean or maintained. while our 3 children were in the pool, people were throwing full beer cans, among other things, off of their balconies into the pool, and laughing! the staff done nothing about this, except send someone in to retrieve the pool trash. we went up to our room and in the elevator was a group of people smoking pot! again, staff apologized but done nothing. they said if we checked out we would lose our money, absolutely no refunds. we left anyway, no one minded that we were very unhappy customers. we filled out papers that we were given at the front desk and sent them to the property owners, and still have not gotten any kind of response. that was two years ago. if this would have been the first place we stayed at the beach, we probably would not have vacationed in myrtle beach again. if anyone were to even consider this place as a last resort, walk beyond the clean friendly atmosphere of the lobby, because it is very misleading

I thought the service, staff and room was excellent. Went there for some needed "away" time by myself. I was placed in a Penthouse suite and the view was breathtaking. The staff knew I was alone and were so helpful with everything. The room was clean and I had everything I needed. I would stay there again without a second thought.

1st call-call to question price, told person for five people and what kind of room i wanted, she quoted 165. 2nd call-call to make reservations-price is now 183 for five people. 3rd call-questioned price(they charge for extra people) 3 beds are set up to cater to 2 people (per manager)....Instead of getting what i origionally asked for(the three beds)rep said I was booked for 137.99 for 1 king bed. I cxled reservation b/c 5 people and 1 bed isn't going to work and the room i wanted suddenly isn't available got my credit card statement-charged 183.00 and was credited that amount back spent more time looking for a hotel to meet our needs, ended up going to tropical winds(much nicer and lower price)..... call 4-ask to speak to manager to see what the heck these people were doing? Oh now she was willing to book the room....this room was suddenly available(duh, b/c it was booked right the first time).... Get it together people

We get to take our vacation at the end of the sumer, and this is the most peacefull place that we can go and fill so relaxed. The staff is so nice.

the in door pool could be warmer in the winter. the service is great something goes wrong they fix it like we had our heat to go out they changed it so we didn't have to move
