Sand Dunes Resort & Villas, Myrtle Beach

Horrible customer service, bad management, dirty and outdated. Put us in the wrong room and wouldn't do anything about it. No compensation, nothing. Not even an apology. This place is horrible, third year here and it just keeps getting worse. NOT coming back again.

The rooms were smelly and dirty. No one return my call when I called to complain. All of the attractions that are free for guests are not worth going. The water park is 30 minutes away and not the best. The Diamond Back camp is 45 miutes away and when we got there at 4pm they said they were closing, although the hotel told us they close at 7pm. The Cruise called and cancelled, said their boat was broken. I will never stay there again and I would advise everyone I know to saty away!

From check in to check out the entire experience was a nightmare! I was told by the person who took our reservation that we would be able to check in early, and ended up waiting for 3 hours with 2 screaming as well as exhausted children....Then we get to our room and it smelled funny. We were very disappointed with the overall interior of the hotel...The ceilings were leaking, elevators smelled horrible and the showers were nasty! Then, we were supposed to have two additional guests join us, and they wouldnt let us add them to our room. After standing and talking to management we were finally able to add our guests. Our stay was for a week, and housekeeping only came into our room one time. We had to actually go down and get clea towels every day. The staff was rude...The housekeeping supervisor actually lost his key to all of the rooms and was going to every room looking for it. THEN....one of the guests who stayed with us went down to the front desk and got 2 room keys. The bad part about that was that he wasnt related to us for one thing, and they didnt ask for an ID! Now what does that tell you about the staff? Any stranger could have walked up and said they were staying in our room and dtolen everything we had...or worst! Dont let the pictures fool you either, it makes the water park and everything look so nice. But in reality its rather small and always packed out. THe location sucks, and to be honest.....I would rather stay in a flea bitten roach motel then go through that experience again! My vacation was practically ruined thanks to those people! Horrible value for the overall price we paid!

We checked in on June 15, 2009, Our first room was on the 11th floor, room was so dark and smelt musty. They moved us to the 8th floor it was better, we called up that evening to request more towels and sheets for the pull out sofa. As of Tuesday night at 8:00 we still had no sheets, no clean towels or had they cleaned our room. We went 2 days with no service. We reported it 3 to 4 times, ask for mgr, no response. The night before the lady at the front desk said she would credit 1/2 the price for one day. That's ok, however I slept on the sofa with a blanket, could not pull it down into a bed. Went 2 days with no clean towels and they did not clean the room.The service was very bad!!!!! The hotel was referred by a customer that has stayed there for 8 years. She even called, and told them she was embarressed. Thanks

we just loved the weekend we stayed at the sands were coming back for the week of the 4th of july and we could stay wherever we wanted to...

Was terrified after reading the reviews here. If you are looking for a romantic getaway this won't be for you. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly enough. They need more staff though. It was not dirty the way many have said, it is not new but it is clean. I would recommend this resort for family trips/

We had a great view of the ocean on the 19th floor but we did not like the bugs that were on our balcony and in our room. Huge cock roaches every where. We notified the manager who had our room sprayed the next day, but we still had the bugs the remainder of our stay. I myself did not sleep well worrying about these things crawling around in the dark. I will never book my family vacation at sand dunes resort again.

We stayed at the Sand Dunes in June with a group. Check was lengthy, but we were a large group. We did have to do some room swamping around, but everyone seemed pleased once things were settled. Decor of the room was a little outdated, but I did find out that some of the "condos" are privately owned. I meet an owner that was there painting his condo. The kids enjoyed the water park. The water park is for younger kids not something that older teenage kids would enjoy. The elevators were slow, but it was a busy time of year. We had problems with the washing machine in our condo but maintance seen to it right away. We didn't have anything stolen. It was a little pricey for what you got, but overall it was an OK visit. Not as bad as the other reviews that I have read.

I just arrived home yesterday after spending 2 nights at the sand dunes II....we had to wait an hour to check in...the rooms were nasty....both bathroom sinks were clogged...the pull out sofabed had no linens,,,,the stove had only one working burner and the heating element was lopsided...the hallways were horribly dirty....the linens and bath towels were the lowest quality,,,I did not even open the soap, shampoo etc....I have stayed at the Beach Cove and Myrtlewood resorts and they were both alot nicer..I will not return to this joke of a resort!!!!!!!!!!!

My son was injured by the automatic closing of the hotel door. He broke a finger and we had to leave early. They would not refund the 1 night we did not stay. Also my 10 year old son had all of his money stolen from his wallet during our stay. He was very upset--about $60.00 We had ants in our room--changed rooms and still had ants plus roaches. Hotel clerk said , "what do you want me to do about it?" Very disappointing for our summer vacation. The conceirge was the most helpful of the whole experience. I wrote the manager about the whole incident and have gotten no response at all 2 weeks later.
