Great Location, other issues.

The best feature about Beach Cove is it's location in N. Myrtle Beach. It has some of the best beach frontage in the area. Beaches are clean and not overly crowded. To the north, across the 'swash' is a great stretch of open beach (backs partially up to nature preserve) for long walks (just watch the tide changes so you don't get stranded on the wrong side of the swash). Good spot for shelling too.
It's also located close to shopping and restaurants on Kings Highway (17).
Barefoot Landing is right up the road and it's not too far from 'Broadway on the Beach' (large shopping & entertainment area) and 'restaurant row'.
If you want to access Hwy. 17 going the south, traffic can back up at the light, so be prepared for delays. If going north, you can drive up Ocean Boulevard a few blocks that direction and avoid the light.
The pool area and bar are nice/okay. The covered parking is a bonus, it's a garage structure attached to the hotel by a pedway. If you can get a spot near the pedway (third level), you can avoid the lobby and access the elevators on the 3rd floor. If you are on the lower floors, you can use the stairwells and avoid the elevators, accept for check-in/check-out. Or, you can use the elevator in the north tower which is accessed just behind the 'lazy river' and adjacent to a small parking lot for temorary loading/unloading.
The elevators are a major issue. There are not enough for peak times, which can be very frustrating when you're trying to get out for dinner, etc. People also tend to 'hold' them on floors. I also found out a few years ago, that there is a 'trick' to expressing the elevators to make them bypass floors ). People who know the trick can manipulate which floors to stop (I won't pass it along so as not to make things worse).
Due to the elevator situation, I'd advise getting a room in the north tower on a lower level. Only down side is that you're just above one of the pools, and noise can be an issue from screaming kids (until 10 pm).
If you plan on spending the day around the pool area, you'll need to go out about 7 am to reserve (grab) some chairs and a good spot. Otherwise, forget it.
The 'amenities' are generally not up to par, and the rooms are a bit dated. However, all rooms are ocean front with balconies and nice views of the beach and pool deck.
Expect some service and maintenance issues, but don't expect a fast fix from the staff. They are a little slow to respond.
Also, this is a 'family' oriented establishment. That is, lot's of kids running and playing everywhere. So if you're looking for a peaceful/restful stay, don't do Beach Cove.
The shame of it is, that the room prices are not cheap, even with a discount. But the owners and/or management don't seem to want to invest/re-invest in the place. This hotel could be a top notch resort if they would spend some money on refurbishing, updating and improving the amenities.
There are several newer properties in the vicinity with nicer rooms at about the same cost. Sea Watch (just down the beach a bit) is one of them & run by the same owner group, but it's not as convenient. I would compare rates closely before committing to Beach Cove. But, overall, you can't go wrong...
