nasty motel and poor service
By ,
we stayed all week, when we arrived and got our room the sheets had not been changed from last person there. we had to sleep on our own blankets we brought until room service came and chged the bedding. we had no room service all week except the day before we left. even the blankets you find in the dresser smelled of fish and had stains on them, the fridge smelled of fish and leaked out on the floor. complained all week about poor room service, upon check out received small refund, will never stay here again

Perfect Place to Stay
By ,
The property is absolutely beautiful! Multiple pools, lots of palm trees on deck, snack bar & pool-side bar, easy beach access, everything was clean comfortable and pleasing to the eye. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and well appointed. The view from the balcony was easily the best part! The staff was professional, prompt and friendly. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the Grand Strand; close to both Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach, and walking-distance to Barefoot Landing. I highly recommend this property and will definitely be staying there again!

Been staying at the Beach Cove for 22 years
By ,
My husand, children and I love the Beach Cove. It's clean, convenient to everything on the strip, great Cabana bar, awesome lazy river and pools, (indoor and out) and they have great Customer Service Reps. The housekeeper and the building services workers are very good and dependable. The breakfast buffet is the best!!! If you have time, take in some fishing at Calabash or Little River. My husband and I have been blessed to stay at the Beach Cove every Summer. In these days of economic woes, the Beach Cove have been offering some very affordable deals throughout the year. If I didn't mention it, my husband and I were married at the Beach Cover 11 years ago. You will enjoy yourself and want to come back year after year. Mommouse & Raider

Great Location, other issues.
By ,
The best feature about Beach Cove is it's location in N. Myrtle Beach. It has some of the best beach frontage in the area. Beaches are clean and not overly crowded. To the north, across the 'swash' is a great stretch of open beach (backs partially up to nature preserve) for long walks (just watch the tide changes so you don't get stranded on the wrong side of the swash). Good spot for shelling too. It's also located close to shopping and restaurants on Kings Highway (17). Barefoot Landing is right up the road and it's not too far from 'Broadway on the Beach' (large shopping & entertainment area) and 'restaurant row'. If you want to access Hwy. 17 going the south, traffic can back up at the light, so be prepared for delays. If going north, you can drive up Ocean Boulevard a few blocks that direction and avoid the light. The pool area and bar are nice/okay. The covered parking is a bonus, it's a garage structure attached to the hotel by a pedway. If you can get a spot near the pedway (third level), you can avoid the lobby and access the elevators on the 3rd floor. If you are on the lower floors, you can use the stairwells and avoid the elevators, accept for check-in/check-out. Or, you can use the elevator in the north tower which is accessed just behind the 'lazy river' and adjacent to a small parking lot for temorary loading/unloading. The elevators are a major issue. There are not enough for peak times, which can be very frustrating when you're trying to get out for dinner, etc. People also tend to 'hold' them on floors. I also found out a few years ago, that there is a 'trick' to expressing the elevators to make them bypass floors ). People who know the trick can manipulate which floors to stop (I won't pass it along so as not to make things worse). Due to the elevator situation, I'd advise getting a room in the north tower on a lower level. Only down side is that you're just above one of the pools, and noise can be an issue from screaming kids (until 10 pm). If you plan on spending the day around the pool area, you'll need to go out about 7 am to reserve (grab) some chairs and a good spot. Otherwise, forget it. The 'amenities' are generally not up to par, and the rooms are a bit dated. However, all rooms are ocean front with balconies and nice views of the beach and pool deck. Expect some service and maintenance issues, but don't expect a fast fix from the staff. They are a little slow to respond. Also, this is a 'family' oriented establishment. That is, lot's of kids running and playing everywhere. So if you're looking for a peaceful/restful stay, don't do Beach Cove. The shame of it is, that the room prices are not cheap, even with a discount. But the owners and/or management don't seem to want to invest/re-invest in the place. This hotel could be a top notch resort if they would spend some money on refurbishing, updating and improving the amenities. There are several newer properties in the vicinity with nicer rooms at about the same cost. Sea Watch (just down the beach a bit) is one of them & run by the same owner group, but it's not as convenient. I would compare rates closely before committing to Beach Cove. But, overall, you can't go wrong...

False Advertising
By ,
I believe they faslely advertise their amenities. We were taking a girls vacation and was excited about this resort having a restaurant, Martini Bar, Starbucks, etc. Once we got there, the restaurant was only open for breakfast, the Martini Bar and Starbucks were only open on weekends and the exercise facility didn't offer towels. Plus, their gift shop wasn't open until the weekend! We will never visit Beach Cove again. I wouldn't feel it to be necessary to write bad reviews if a manager would return one of my numerous calls and return my overpayment.

Not a 5 star, but is better than most
By ,
We have been going to Myrtle Beach for several years now for our vacations, reasons being that the beaches are clean, and there are things for adult, teens, children & toddlers to do and see. We have stayes at several properties, the two nastiest were Captains Quarters and Sea Mist, not to mention what ever they use in ther pool water burns your skin. Because of this we decided to head to North Myrtle and this is where we found Beach Cove, granted it is not the greatest such as Margate, or Marriott, this place is just fine for a vacation, and this will be our 3rd return to Beach Cove. The pool water does not burn our skin or eyes such as the other places in central MB, the pool area is landscaped beautifully, and ample shade for the times you want to be out of the sun. However you do have to rise early to place your towels on the lounge chairs, but this is common at most every resort there. We rent through an real estate company as it is cheaper than going through the resort. We also take our own linens, and I never use or leave their comforters on the bed nor the pillows, I take our own as well. Beach Cove is located across from barefoot landing, and within just a few miles of broadway at the beach. If you are looking for a 5 star resort, this is not the place for you. I would give it 3.5 stars because we have stayed in worse. IF 5 star is what you are after they have those as well, but you are looking at paying $3-4,000 a week. If you find the right agency the price will be ok.

Its the (big) little things
By ,
I knew I was in for a disappointing experience when we walked in our room and my wife (who happens to watch any and every show on hotel's and the cleaning practices of its employees) informed me that our comforter had an unidentified brown object on it. Housekeeping removed the blanket after informing my wife that it would be returned after being washed. The employee disclosed that the comforter (like many other things in the hotel) are rarely replaced during peak seasons- I'm still unsure if I should be happy or upset about the employee sharins this information so candidly. Less than an hour later our bathtub was clogged after two people showered. The front desk was called, maintenance arrived- claiming the problem was taken care of after working for 20 minutes..........not the case.......I had to call the front desk a second time to have the same problem repaired. Did I mention that during this time we had already waited an hour for two towels because we had to use the towels in the room to stop the leaking toilet. Later on that night while preparing for bed my wife noticed water leaking from the vent in the bedroom. Three other issues that I have with this hotel are the elevators- it's baffling to me how an establishment can have 16 floors per wing with only two elevators per wing (are you kidding me), and the worker at the front desk did not know what floors had working ice machines (two of the machines I discovered were not working after she instructed me to go to these floors for ice). The only thing that salvaged this experience was the view (of the beach), location (in conjuction with the beach), and the numerous activtities for the children. I will not return to this hotel and would recommend that others proceed with caution; I recognize that my experience may be unique but I have this strange suspicion that I am not that special. DLP

Vacation Salvaged!
After a horrible ordeal with the Monster Group Vacations, I took control of my vacation soon becoming a disaster. The people at the Beach Cove were very sympathetic and accomodating. It was more than I had budgeted for. Almost three time more, but it was on the beach, included breakfasts and was safe and clean. Management and support staff bent over backwards to help right wrongs despite the constant onslaught of people arriving and departing. Special thanks to Abby (frontdesk)

Nice, but we will not Return...
By ,
Lets start off with what I liked: Convient Location, Clean Rooms, Nice Pool Deck, many pools for the kids to chose from, nice tiki bar. Now the things I disliked: There are no carts to take your luggage to your room because people tend to keep them in their rooms so good luck getting your luggage up to your room because you will wait 15 minutes for an elevator and when it does decided to come it will be packed with people so hit the button again and wait another 15 minutes. Also there are signs that say " No Reserving of Beach Chair" HAHAHA this is not enforced. Set your alarm clock for 6am because if you dont go put a towel on a chair that early you wont get a chair. The people that do put a towel on the chair dont come and even lay on the chair for hours later in the day. The front desk workers were rude and even ignored us as we were talking to them and acted as if they couldnt hear us. So overall the hotel was nice, but the lack of luggage carriers, no pool chairs, and not getting an elevator will be the reason we do not return to this hotel. It sure is a shame because the hotel is very nice but we wasted half of our vacation waiting for an elevator. We were on the top floor "16th floor" and we were unable to have a luggage carrier or get on an elevator so we carried all of our luggage up 16 flights of stairs and it took us 5 trips and when we went to complain to the desk they ignored us. The music at the pool deck was nice, the tiki bar was convient if you didnt want to have to run back up to your room to get something to eat or drink, and overall the hotel is clean.
