Oceanfront Litchfield Inn, Pawleys Island

Based on others reviews...some negative, I politely asked for a clean, updated room with a comfortable newer mattress. I understood that each room is individually owned so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the door to 215 and found a cute bright beachy yellow room with a large comfortable KING bed. I had a full kitchen which I was not expecting. I never wanted or needed a kitchen for a 3 night quicky beach trip, but it was really nice to have it I had needed it. I had reserved the cheapest room...a King pool view since I knew I would be on the beach the two full days I had to spend in Pawleys Island area. The room was everything I had hoped for and the bathroom was nice and clean. Tiled floors and tiled kitchen counter....large flat screen TV with easy access to the beach. Staff at check-in were quick and very nice. Overall I would recomment this place to all my friends. Not many places let you reserve less than a week during the summer and this place is cute and I love Pawleys Island! I could see in at least 4 or 5 other rooms in the older part of the motel and the rooms looked as cute as mine. Each is very different....kind of like a boutique type inn. Continental breakfast was your typical fare.....but all you need before hitting the beach. Did not try any of the other amenities such as the onsite restaurants or pool area. Housekeeping was excellent. Room was left clean and bed was made by the time we returned from the beach each day. For the money spent( $606.00 total) for beachfront accomodations for 3 nights, I can't complain. Everything was very nice. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

My husband and came here for our 1st anniversary. After reading some of the reviews here and on other sites I was VEERY nervous about what I was going to get. Sadly I booked before I read the reviews. I was a wreck!! As it turns out, we had a wonderful room!!! We had a perfect view of the beach and it was very romantic. I chose this hotel because of location, and the beach view is exactly what you get. If you are looking for alot of action and things to do, then you probably wont like this place. This is a veery relaxing place. The bar and pool area were AWESOME! The bartenders were incrediable friendly and the entertainment was enjoyable as well. They have a band ...well basically a singer at the pool area. I'm guessing its different every week.?? We met some locals while we were there and the people are sooo friendly. I dont know why some of the people here have said in their reviews that the front desk was rude. We didnt have that problem at all. Someone mentioned that the restr is over priced....this is true. However we just went in town. Its only about a 5 min ride, and theres all kinds of restr's like fast food, mexican etc so no probs there. Also our room had a frig, stove and microwave so we brought stuff for sandwiches and snacks and that cut ALOT out of our eating out. Also breakfast is free in the lobby. you can also put your beer in the frig to save money in the bar area. I was a bit disappointed that there was no radio in the room...couldnt even hookup an ipod and only 1 music video station. That was a bit of damper but not a complete weekend ruiner. I love this place and had a wonderful time. I'll also be posting my review on the other websites, as well. I will be back again..for sure!

We have stayed at Litchfield Inn in the past because we love the laid back atmosphere of the Inn. We were pleasantly surprised on our last trip to discover that some of the rooms have been renovated. We stayed in room 352, the room felt very warm and welcoming with the new renovations. Love the wood floors and the new furnishings, it made us feel like we were at home. The staff was very pleasant and the continental breakfast was another great addition to this hotel. The beach is very quiet, a real plus for a non touristy get away.

My girlfriend suffered illness because of the mouldy rooms at this place. We were given 3 different rooms and all were mouldy. The internet didnt work and as far as we could tell it was false advertising. The nice pictures of the hotel you see on the internet must be someplace else? The telephone didnt work and neither did the tv remote control. the cafe overpriced their food and everything was just terrible. I came from the UK to this place and will not be re-visiting.

No wi fi for 4 days in spite of it being advertised and no interest from the front desk in fixing it, moldy room, phone didn't work, no parking, overpriced restaurant, rude front desk staff. The worst place we've been in the area.

This room was so clean and I liked the tile floors. The bed was very comfortable. The view was spectacular. We never used the pools because they were very crowded but that's ok the ocean was wonderful. If you plan to go to Litchfield Inn make sure you check out the rooms on their web site. That is what I did and I think I found the nicest room the inn has. The room is decorated with a beach theme right down to the bedspread. The owners of this room went out of their way to make you feel right at home. If you think the room is a bit pricey you will feel it is worth every penny once you see the room. Another great feature of this unit is the air conditioner in not right at the patio door. It is located in the bathroom but is very quiet which makes is nice when you spend time out on the balcony. No heat and noise from the air cond. unit. Visit this quaint low country of Pawley's Island. It is truly a treasure.

We were taken to the Litchfield area by a relative for a day visit and fell in love with it. We decided to stay in Litchfield one year on our way back from Charleston and happened upon the Oceanfront Litchfield Inn by acccident. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful retreat then this is it. I must agree with some of the other postings that several of these rooms are in dire need of renovation. I recommend the towers. We stayed in room 428. It was very clean and the view was beautiful. Not much to cheer about as far as the restaurant, food is a little pricy, but we did the majority of our dining in Murrell's Inlet. They have some wonderful restaurants. My wife and I make this an every year vacation spot now and will certainly continue staying at the Oceanfront Litchfield Inn.

The best part is the ocean and proximity to all the great seafood restaurants in Murrells Inlet and The Fish House. I last stayed there in '06 and my opinion coincides with most of the negative descriptions I've read here. Perhaps the restaurant is completed now and it's cleaner. I have found that wherever I go, if you keep "houndin' 'em" you can get the service you want (usually). I do intend to return once I learn this year's prices and whether management is the same which would be a negative.

The Litchfield Inn is in a class by itself. Beautiful tranquil beaches, understated elegance, southern charm, a real gem! Many of the rooms have had face lifts. We suggest room 629 in the tower. The view is spectacular and room is beachy....and there's an utterly cofortable king-sized bed! The restaurant is also splendid. Make the trip once and you'll make it your favorite as well.

The hotel was average for the price. I would recommend it to my friends and/or family. In our room there were only a few problems. The king bed was not an actual king it was two twins of diffrent makes pushed together with a very hard ridge in the middle where the two meet. There was a black stain on the ceiling that could have been water or mold. These things aside, there was a wonderful ocean view from the room, the staff was very friendly and when we reported a problem with our door, maintainece very promptly fixed it. The beach and the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. The hotel needs a face lift but other than that this is a very nice place to stay. WI-FI by pool and lobby only, not in room.
