Where are your parents?????
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/04/10
Parking was a disaster because there was no parking available. Waited over 45 minutes in traffic only to find out no valet service. My retired husband had to walk 2 blocks in the snow and cold to park. $15 each time you left the lot. What shocked me more were all the obnoxious under age kids drinking and smoking who knows what on each floor causing us to stay awake. The room across the hall had over 15-18 kids drinking and yelling vulgar words. We called front desk to complain, and their response was that every floor was complaining about the same problem. They never did anything about it and to top it off, the fire alarm goes off (false alarm). I am sure some punk thought that this was funny. Jerks. I have a heart condition but this does not matter to the inconsiderate maniacs who should have stayed home guarded by their parents. Where were they????? I was a total wreck when I left. No sleep, headache, and in shock. I was glad to check out of that hell hole and thanked the Lord I got home to crawl in bed for a few hours to catch up to lost sleep. NEVER, NEVER, AGAIN.....

Not what we expected
By Nicole, 01/02/10
My boyfriend and I stayed here on New Years Eve and were not happy with much. When we got there, we had to sit in traffic going into the hotel for at least 20 minutes because the area to load and unload is ridiculously small and there is NO ONE directing traffic or making sure people are moving their cars. Once we finally get into the tiny loading area, we go in to see where we're supposed to park. They inform us we have to park around the block in a parking garage which was $15 each time you parked, whether it was for an hour or 15 hours. It would have been nice if an employee was outside letting cars know that so we weren't sitting there all that time waiting, or maybe something on the website to tell us that since we passed the garage on the way in. We got inside and the checkout line had at least 100 people in it, all through the lobby and to the doors, It did go somewhat quick, suprisingly. We then got a connector room, connected to a group of young partying kids, so we asked to switch rooms. They actually gave us a new room, but the walls are very thin in any room. I didn't like the glass bathroom doors. Since when is using the restroom a public thing now? I'd like to use the restroom/shower in private, not have whoever I'm staying with walk by the door and be able to see me. Rooms were small and I found the mattress uncomfortable. Also no refridgerator or microwave so our leftovers from dinner had to stay in the car and go bad. And good luck trying to get an elevator. Some were broke and the rest just took forever. We carried our luggage down 6 flights of stairs because we couldn't get an elevator. Oh, and what hotel doesn't have vending machines?? It was late and we were hungry for snacks, and called down to see where vending was- they don't have ANY besides soda. Kind of odd. So overall, we did not enjoy our stay here. Definitetly not what you would expect from such a name as "Hilton."

Love this place!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/09
My fiance and I stayed the night before a football game and it was amazing. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are even better with comfy beds and plasma tvs on the walls. It's the perfect location whether you are going to a game or shopping. There is a shuttle which will take you within a 5 mile radius of the hotel which is for the most part anywhere worth going. The hotel is easy walking distance to both the stadiums. There is a 26 valet parking fee at the hotel, but if your going to a game you can just walk and save a possible $50 parking pass at the stadiums. The rooms can be expensive, but it is a hilton and newly renovated.

Nice, but......
By ozzie, 09/07/09
This is a nice hotel, centrally located with shuttle service within a 3-mile radius. Amenities: There is no microwave in the hotel rooms—they do have them if you request them. I highly recommend requesting on either when you make your reservation or as soon as you check in. Same with a refrigerator. Internet: Also, if you are there on business or plan on using your computer, their “high-speed” internet is more like dial up with the line clogged. Rooms: Are very small. We had a room with two double beds, (a corner room) still very small and the bathroom was even smaller. However, after all of this and knowing this before hand, I would stay there again—Only because of their location! GO STEELERS!

Great location but...
By anonymous, 07/19/09
Liked: location - great to walk to Heinz and PNC stadium. Disliked: $26 for valet parking (difficult to park anywhere else is you don't know the area and the drive up was ridiculous of cars-diffcult to pull up) Room was 55 degrees when we walked in, hot water was brown, 2:30 AM loud drunks walking hallways to their room, housekeeping banging on door to clean the room BEFORE 9 AM when check out isn't until NOON, mattress uncomfortable. I'd stay somewhere else next time. There are too many other hotels to choose from. I thought the Hilton name was impressive but very dissapointed in this hotel. And as the others said, the construction outside and around the building is a mess.

Wait Until They Finish Remodeling !!!!
By Felton, 06/15/08
I am writing this review from the Hilton on my last day of a two week stay in this hotel. Pros:the hotel is conveniently located, clean and the staff is friendly.I found the bed to be very comfortable. The rooms have a plasma tv (although cleary not HD signal) Also when the tv comes on the default setting is the Hilton Channel and it is "Voice of God" loud. Cons:There is construction everywhere. No public bathrooms so if you're eating in the pub or diner, you'll have to go to your room to make potty. I have been awakened as early as 6:30 am with the construction noise. That may not bother the typical business traveller who would be awake anyway. But I'm traveling with a Broadway show and we of course work at night so needless to say I've been very unhappy about that. My power has gone out at least 6 times in my room and each time they seem too casual when responding to requests for electricity. I travel with an Imac so I lost a few edits once when the power went out. The rooms are really small also. Like Japan small. I think it would be a decent place if It weren't for the construction (which I hear now at 8 am). For now my best recommendation is to stay Away. It is not worth it if you actually like to rest. The shower design is just idiotic. I wish I could post a picture. There is no bathtub, just a swinging glass door. You have to actually get in the shower and turn the water on (from inside the shower). So much for getting the temperature right and then getting in. I'm looking forward to checkout tomorrow.

Save your money....there are better hotels within a 10 minute walk.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/07
As of September 20, 2007, don't waste your money staying at the Hilton Downtown Pittsburgh. The condition of this hotel was less than adequate and the services and facilities need great improvement. My wife and I stayed one night there for a conference and found the Hilton is under renovation on every floor. On our floor, you could see the drywall dust hanging in the air. The contractors had fans but they weren't exhausted outside so the dust ended up going through the hotel. Our room had a King size bed and little room for anything else. The bathroom was equally as small with barely enough room for one person. The room's only window was covered over with a a transluscent plexiglass so we couldn't see any of the view from the 15th floor. Apparently they covered most of the windows in the hotel as part of the construction work. The room's temperature was either cold or colder. We couldn't adjust the air conditioning temperature except to turn it off. There is no swimming pool at the hotel. There is a workout room with various equipment. But who could work out with all the dust. The staff are friendly and courteous and willing to serve but the condition of the hotel outweights any positives you can find. But the construction doesn't end in the hotel, it's also outside it. Point State Park is barricaded off due to renovations. After one night we got out and went to the DoubleTree Hotel City Centre at One Bigelow Square (412)281-5800. Only a 10 minute walk from the Hilton, the difference is unbelievable. Here you are greeted to a beautifully maintained hotel, and the rooms are large and spacious. You even receive a warm cookie on check in. Our room here was a spacious suite with separate bedroom and living area, fridge microwave, 2 TV's and almost 3X the size of our room at the Hilton. All I can say is run, don't walk from the Hilton over to the DoubleTree. YOU won't be disappointed.

Not the caliber of a Hilton Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/22/07
When reviewing hotels in Pittsburgh, I chose the Hilton because it was the one hotel with a vacancy and I would get points from a reward program. Next time I'm in Pittsburgh I will fore-go the rewards. The did not have proper noise abatement, I could follow conversations of my neighbors and listed to construction noise for four hours. The bed was uncomfortable. The maid replaced towels each day despite my gestures to participate in the environmental program Hilton markets to reduce water consumption. The business center computers lost many hours of work. The valet ignored me. I did like the concierge, his attitude and performance was the best I've seen in any hotel. Its been two months and the rewards haven't been posted to my account.

Great location but...........
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/24/07
My first time to Pittsburgh on business. Stayed here as it was close to what I had to do. It definitely has a beautiful view of the river. Staff: This needs some help., The parking chief, or daddy didn't appear to have the time to make the guests feel completely comfortable about the parking situation,,which the MOTEL ITSELF DOES NOT HAVE PARKING! He gave me extremely quick and in-accurate directions to the wrong lot. $24 A DAY FOR VALET AND THEY PARK IT IN A PUBLIC LOT, $16.50 and $21.25 FOR PUBLIC PARKING PER DAY U PARK around the block. Front Desk: I must have came on a "No Smile" day, as I felt I was putting the girl out by checking in. Lounge: Great service, comfortable atmosphere, GREAT FOOD! The Room: Very comfortable bed but,,,,,,,,,,,,,small, Very thin walls, Old and Outdate bathroom, Poor Poor Poor weak wireless on the 22nd floor. Lost it every few minutes. Their "Bridge" didn't help at all. I think in the 80's it was top of the line,,but for the $$, they just don't stack up. I'm now in a Hampton Inn, 1/2 the cost and 3 times the quality and comfort. They just need to pay ATTENTION TO THE DETAIL IN THE ROOMS,,,ie corners, rust painted over, hair on the floor and shower, and STOP USING THE WAX PAPER FOR THE TOILET PAPER!!!!!
