Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/11/09
The place is very outdated and in desperate need of a face-lift. The carpets are moldy and smell like it, the bathrooms not so clean, the model time-share that I saw was also outdated, so I can only imagine what the real time-shares look like. The entire place has that dark, 1970s cabin log feel from the movie Dirty Dancing (remember that movie, with Patrick Swayze?) The water park is basically geared towards children between the ages of 3 and 11 yrs old, and it's really nothing more than a big pool. I think the place is a good get-away for the locals, but for them to want to sell time-shares to out-of-towners, may be a little ambitious. If you are in the mood for a long drive, I would recommend Bushkill Falls; it's a beautiful place and no one tries to sell you a time-share for $10,000 a year.

Good Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/27/09
Place was clean, staff frindly, waterpark was fun. Pizzeria was nightmare (long lines) and onsite food was very expensive. Plan ahead to bring your own food or go offsite!

cut us a break
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/12/09
I am going to be honest I work at the resort. I wanted to reply to the person who says we scamed them by charging them for room damage, and the only reason we did that is because of "75 recent lay offs" . First if there have been 75 layoffs I am unaware of them, and my job postion would make me aware, and second we have noo need to scam anyone. I had occasion to see the damage done to rooms by guests and you wouldn't believe what people do to a room and then moan about when we charge them. IE: All timeshare unit (Westwood Villas and Willoebrook) have gas fire places with signs that say this is gas please don't burn fireplace logs or anything else in them. But you wouldn't believe how many people burn those logs ontop of the gas ones, damaging them. We actually had one group of people try and burn their trash in the fire place and then complain when the room filled with noxious smoke and we charged them cleaning fees. Because of people saying our damage charges are false we always document them with pictures and replacement invoices. perhaps we should look up your photos and post them so all can see how "professional" you truly where not! Also it's amazing how these folks posted on several different review sites and each time their chrages are different. Again I admit I work for Split Rock, it's just some of what folks pick on here is so unfair I had to respond.

Great Family Fun!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/02/09
After Reading Some of the reviews I was very nervous about booking our Presidents Week Vacation, I have to say I am so glad that I did not listen and went anyway! We were not expecting a luxury vacation, we were expecting, family fun activities and good food and to relax and get away. The resort provided just that. I found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful, and I found them saying hello each time I passed them in the hall, and holding the doors for us as we walked in. Our room was very clean and spacious. The waterpark was so much fun, my 12 year old is begging to go back. Give it a try! We are so glad we did.

Unethical! Scam charged credit card $550
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/28/09
Spent a week there 1/10/09 to 1/1709 through RCI. Cost us $150 for wk because of timeshare membership. Went skiing which was great at Jack Frost. We received a letter the other day they charged our credit card $550 for "damages" to condo we stayed in. Not only were there no damages. The Time Share General Manager, Sam Arnett, would not take our phone calls or respond to our emails. We are disputing this charge on our credit card. To talk to Mr. Arnett, we called but did got give our name. When he got on the phone he said he saw the damages (but could not remember what they were) and said we threw trash through out the condo! He was rude and called the $550 charge "chicken feed". We even vacuumed the whole place before leaving!!!! It was as we found it. We are professionals with 2 children, not party animals. The damage bill stated we are being charged $250 for a dining room table, $100 for a bedroom chair, $100 for damage to a kitchen counter and $100 cleaning fee. The employees were pleasant during our stay and one informed us there were 75 recent lay offs, including half of the maintainance department, they are all nervous because business is down. Time share people are coming to the resort but not spending money at the resort. We spent our money at Jack Frost and were only at the condo to sleep. I think that is why they pulled this scam. RCI will not get involved in this either. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!

Liked the Waterpark
By lookout, 01/03/09
We visited the new indoor waterpark on 1/1/09 as day visitors. The pricing is reasonable and the facility was very nice. The pools and ride were enjoyed immensely by my children. Water and air temperatures are maintained within reason. The layout is very convenient with food served in the waterpark area. I would characterize the food/pricing as average. Lifeguards were present and all attractions were functional. Do not travel here without GPS as this place is very poorly marked with road signs. Since it is on a mountain top beware of winter travel conditions in season. I found the website to be very user friendly and easily navigated to find schedule / pricing information.

Poor Hospitality
By Debbie, 01/01/09
If you are looking for a resort to relax Split Rock Resort may be the place for you. If you are looking for a friendly place to stay with hospitality this is not the resort. The staff is rude and management does not take an interest in correcting or resolving problems. Everyone will tell you how sorry they are and apologize but they do not correct the problem. If you are planning on visiting the resort in the winter be prepared for snow and ice. The parking lot and stairs to the villas are not cleared. If you slide on the ice and hurt yourself do not expect anyone from the resort to check and see how you are doing. You are told to file a report but the report is never followed up on. The New Years Eve party is not worth the charge. There is an open bar but do not plan on getting many drinks since there are only two bartenders for the entire crowd. If you happen to get a rude bartender who uses foul language do not expect management to correct the problem they just cover it up and protect the bartender. The rooms are rustic and need to be remodeled. The bathrooms and kitchen are not presented in good shape and appear to be dirty. The tub and the walls are separating from each other. One positive thing I can say about Split Rock Resort is that there are plenty of activities on the premises to keep the entire family busy. If you can get past the rude reception desk, bartenders, information clerk and management then you will love Split Rock Resort.

THIS IS A SCAM!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/08
My husband and I were scammed into sitting through a meeting with some woman with a horrible accent who proclaimed that it was such a wonderful place. Once she told my husband everything he wanted to hear, he signed the papers and now we are the not so proud owners of a timeshare which we have no intention on using due to the ignorance of their staff. At first I was not even sure if this place was legit. Don't trust it ANYONE. I would never want anyone else to go through what we have to try and get rid of it. It is a total and complete rip off. HOW DARE YOU SPLIT ROCK RIP OFF !!!!

Stay away!
By Louis, 09/15/08
We came here on a timeshare promotion package which was to include "luxury resort accomodations" at this place. In fact, the accomodations were nothing of the sort. For starters, there is no elevator, a blatant violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Several hotel employees saw us trying to lug a carriage with a sleeping toddler up three flights of stairs, yet none even offered to help. The carpets were stained and lifting up in numerous places. The wallpaper was peeling. The toilets repeatedly backed up. The restaurants were filthy and never open when you need them. Despite the chilly night air, we needed to run the fan on full blast to drown out the noises from the next room which we could hear clearly. There were hotel amenities as promised, but we needed at least a five minute drive just to get to them. Needless to say, we didn't buy a timeshare. How they plan to sell timshares with this irresponsible attitude is beyond me. Unless you wish to ruin your vacation, avoid this place at all costs.

By donaldblueeyes, 08/04/08
What a shame; Split Rock has turned into a dump! Indoor pool is gross, the Water park is delayed again, bingo is history, and the complexion of the resort is getting "Darker" by the month! YUK
