GET ANOTHER HOTEL!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/7/11
We stayed at this Quality Inn on Steinwehr Avenue and I was impressed initailly by the staff. We got the last two rooms. Had I known what I know now we would have never stayed and gone elsewhere. The second day coming back from the battle field my son went to put his son to bed and pulling the covers back found over 300 ants in the bed, it was infested. He had requested earlier that the room be cleaned. So the maid was back in, was to have cleaned the room and yet there were ants in the bed. The desk was called, adivsed NO manager on site for the weekend he was off, and they would have someone come over. They changed the bed we thought all was well. that night my Son was bitten by these ants, called front desk and told that ants don't bite, and clerk had an attitude. I called corporate who could not contact the front desk no answer nice in an emergency. Maintenance came, sprayed, son and family had to stay with me. Next evening same thing ants everywhere. Not recommended for several reaons.

PERFECT LOCATION--OK ROOM
By KenK, 9/28/10
The motel has been here for many years and shows it, but the location can't be beat. The check-in was smooth and the desk clerk very helpful in recommending some nearby restaurants. After a good dinner, we walked to the National Cemetery and then up to the Copse of Trees and back to the motel --the perfect walk. Breakfast is fine--nothing spectacular but you can build a pretty decent sausage and egg muffin. The room seemed a little small, but that reflects the old style motel design, and it was clean. The key is to not spend too much time in the room and take advantage of being so close to some amazing locations.

Excellent location, room average.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/10
My husband and I have been coming to Gettysburg twice a year since 2007. We had stayed in this hotel before and loved it. If you get the rooms which are in the seperate building where the indoor pool is they are fantastic, however, this time we were stuck way out on the end in the outdoor entry rooms. It was not like the nice room we stayed in before. The air conditioner is crazy, it kicks on and off and you don't have the option of leaving it on all the time, good thing it was cool out because we just had to open the windows and door....not that big of a deal. I went into the bathroom and the first thing I found was pubic hair and other hair on the bathtub, which was and indication to me it had not been cleaned...I always pack along my own cleaning supplies anyway so I just cleaned and disinfected it myself......not that big of a deal I guess. The beds were pretty comfortable, the curtains were very old and dirty and there was a chair in our room, but the upholstery was dirty and ripped. The breakfast is pretty average, pastrys, sausage and egg the norm, it was good. Overall, I was pretty dissapointed in the room compared to our last stay. BUT, the location and the staff are excellent. So I would come back if I could stay in one of the newer rooms I had before.

Would definately go back!
By Lisa, 8/11/09
If you are looking for comfort and convenience, this is the place for you. We stayed here for 3 days and had absolutely no complaints. The room was clean and extremely comfortable. The best 3 nights sleep I have had in a very long time. The family friendly room (3 double beds) was perfect for our family of 4. The kids LOVED the pool, and the breakfasts at the Country Cottage were terrific. Everything from eggs and sausage to all kinds of toasts, muffins, donuts, juices, fresh fruits. This saved us so much money! The rooms are certainly not 5 star, but clean, and comfortable they definatley were. The staff at the front desk were extremely nice. The prices were great, and we checked out MANY places before we booked. You can walk to all shops and tours. Battelfields are right there for you to explore. Restaurants are right downt he street. We had a wonderful time! Thank you to all there.

Priced for location and not quality
By Rhonie, 5/27/09
The location was convenient. The room was overpriced - priced per location. Room Quality/decor medocher. Our room smelled of dank musty carpet. AC was not adequate. AC not central - hallway hot. Was only room available anywhere in town, so to change rooms or hotels was out of the question. We enjoyed our time in Gettysburg but not the hotel. Will not book here again.

Accomodating? No!
By Kathy, 5/15/09
Two night minimum in this day and time is unreasonable at best.I asked for an exception due to unavoidable circumstances and the desire to stay at the same place as other family members. I was basically told that they are in the business to make money. Gladly I found exceptional accommodations within a mile of this location. My advise...shop around.

Very nice!!
By Thomas M, 6/3/08
Just traveled there the weekend after Memorial Day. You can not beat the location. Everything you want to see and do is either a short drive or walk. Great value for the location. If you are looking for a five star hotel, go somewhere else. This is an excellent motel for the price and location.

Loved this hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/9/08
First, let me say that my stay in the hotel was terrific! The hospitality staff was friendly, the woman at the front desk (Pam, I believe her name was) was one of the nicest people in this business I have ever dealt with, the rooms were clean, the Continental breakfast was good, and the bed was even very comfortable. Nothing negative to say about the hotel. I will say, however, that when I checked in, the gentleman at the front desk recommended a stop in the Mine Saloon, so later that evening, I took a walk over to it and went in. It was a quaint little place. The hallway coming in did look like a mine tunnel. It could use a good cleaning and maybe a coat of paint, but for a hotel bar, it wasn't so bad. Inside, I enjoyed the mine theme, and especially enjoyed the fireplace. That said, I will not be going back, and I would advise others not to go their either. Maybe on a night if there would be a different bartender, I don't know, but here's why I say this. Where should I begin? Have patience if it's busy and you want a drink, because the old woman who tends bar there gets so wrapped up in conversation with her friends or regular customers that she ignores everyone. else. I had to finally raise my voice and wave at her after almost 5 minutes for another drink. Then, I was rewarded with a dirty look and a draft beer that was half full of foam, and not even a thank you. It's obvious this woman is in pain and is not happy in her job. How can I tell this? She made it a known fact. She has a very deep voice that carries well, and she used it to complain about everything. I don't know who the guy, Ivan, is who sat at the bar, or why he would want to stay there, because she was nothing but mean to him as well. Do bartenders usually swear at customers? This one did! If I'm on vacation and go to a bar, I don't need to hear, "I'm sore! My back hurts! I really don't want to be here!...etc." Not a comfortable or relaxing atmosphere. Then, after complaining all night about not being busy (and occasionally swearing about it, as well), what happened at around 10:30? A group of 5-6 people came in. Guess what happened? "Where have they been all night? That takes a lot of nerve! They're out somewhere else all night, and now I'm stuck cleaning up after them." I could hear her, and I'm sure they could to, because they left after only one drink. So would've I! I've never seen someone who's income was based on tips complain when people who would tip came in. Mayeb I'm misiing something. Anyway, on a good night, with a different bartender, the place might be good. I liked the atmosphere, the decor, and most especially the fire. I didn't like the nasty, slow, miserable bartender. This TripAdvisor Member: Liked — Cleanliness Disliked — The Bartender! Stay away!
