Wasteful Vacation!
By The, 9/9/09
This was the very first vacation my husband and I have ever gotten to take together since our daughter was born. The hotel certainly offers an excellent price for their Kennywood package and the reason is due to the poor quality of the hotel and its' staff members. When making the reservations the staff doesn't tell you that their hot tub is down nor do they tell you about their mold/algae infested pool. We chose the hotel due to its location and its good deal. If it sounds too good to be true, it most definately is! When we went to the pool it smelled strongly of chlorine which we at first took as a good sign that the innkeepers keep things maintained. We were most certainly wrong! Inside the pool, approximately an inch or two above the water starts the growth of mold/algae. It goes all around the pool as well as the outside. If you look at the edging where the sealant is, you'll see that it's coming apart and it is most certainly covered. We were there while a young couple and their 2 kids were also in the pool area and the mother and I got to talking and the woman was so disgusted that she and her family left and the kids were so upset and crying because they couldn't use the pool. I confronted the "certified" pool operation of the hotel and he assured me that the pool has always tested negative for mold/algae and that every few weeks he and the staff scrub the pool down to rid of any algae. It has definately been a long time since they've cleaning arond the pool. Just absolutely disgusted! Not to mention the cobwebs that were in our room and the trash that was left under our bed from previous guests. Just disgusting. I've worked at a hotel before and would never let a guest stay in such filth or at least refund partial if not all money. If our pool would've looked like that, the health department would have shut us down! No one offered any refund but a really shady appology was offered. The hotel also has a diner inside called Blue Indigo and the food was nasty and cold. The first night we got a pizza and it was hot and not too bad for the price of 8.99 The second night we ordered hoagies and they were cold and not as ordered the the food tasted weird. We called to let the manager know and our money was refunded, that's about the only good thing that did occur aside from having a pretty decent time at the park.

Great stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/09
My family and I stayed at this establishment for a two night stay. I was a little apprehensive at first due to the mixed reviews, but overall it was a good experience. We booked a Kennywood package and it was a great deal. For under $300, we had a nice clean room, free breakfast and 4 Kennywood tickets. You can even purchase tickets there which are $10 less than at the park. We had a great time at the pool. The pool was heated and a little cooler at night, but not too cool that you wouldn't want to use it. Breakfast was pretty good, no complaints here. I would stay there again. My kids asked if we could make this a yearly trip. The only problem I had was the distance to the park. It was only 15 minutes, but we had to drive through this rough looking part of town and go over a bridge that looked like it was falling apart. Not the fault of Inn, but next year I might search for an alternative route to the park.

Nice Hotel for the Money
By Bo, 7/23/07
This is not a 5-star hotel. Everything is not brand-new & pristine, so if that's what you demand, look elsewhere. If, however, you're looking for a nice, clean, reasonably-priced hotel with a very friendly & hard-working staff, this is the place for you. We rented a small suite, which had a separate bedroom with a door, a kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, sink, & full-size fridge, and a living area with a sleep sofa. For our family of 4, this was the perfect accomodations for our vacation. It was spacious, easily the size of two regular rooms, and the separate bedroom gave us the flexibility of not having to go to sleep at the same time as the kids. The cost was reasonable, the pool was lovely, there was a very nice complimentary breakfast each morning, the staff was incredibly pleasant & helpful, and the location was perfect for us; about 20 minutes each to all the things we wanted to do: Kennywood/Sandcastle to the south, the Zoo to the north, & the Children's Museum downtown. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to all.

relaxing getaway in Pittsburgh
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/4/06
this was a really nice place to stay. They had a great breakfast, which was free. The indoor pool hours were a bit odd, closing mid-afternoon, but only from 3pm till 430pm, & check-in is at 3pm, so it was fine w/ my family. And the pool was beautiful! It was, by far, the BIGGEST pool I've EVER seen in a hotel. Our room was huge, with the best mattress i have ever experienced in a hotel. The front desk staff was amazing! They were so friendly to me, my wife, my kids, & even our dog! They knew ahead of time we had a dog with us, so they placed us in a room on ground level away from other guests with a sliding door so i didn't have to take the dog down the hallway and through the lobby. The last (dozen) places i have stayed in, i have had to call for more pillows/towels, but they had more than enough for all 4 of us! My 11 yr-old son even bought a "terrible towel" in their gift shop! Really nice place for a really great price. Very welcoming hotel.

Very pleased
By Ms Me, 6/24/06
The room was very clean and quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable, even the pillows! Probably the best nights' sleep we've had in a hotel. Breakfast was good, though the coffee could have been better. We only had drinks at the lounge, but the food looked good. We didn't use the pool either, but it looked inviting. All in all, an enjoyable stay.

Why pay for the indoor pool?
By Domenic, 5/25/05
This place a real letdown when we first saw it, it was much farther away from downtown pittsburgh than advertised and it was all by itself on the top of a hill. The pool was the worst feature, it is boasted to be the "biggest in the county" but it is also the COLDEST!!! We could not even swim in it... dispite the 8-3 and 4:30 -9 hours. The hottub was always full of old ladies who seem to be from some swim club. Overall, thsi hotel should charge for what is REALLY OFFERED a lacklustre breakfast a non-heated pool (useless), a 1-person sauna, and virtually an inacessible hottub.

Directions
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/26/05
I have a meeting at this place and I have been unable to find directions. The web site show me a map with over a dozen images to choose from. I'm looking for the simple Directions from the North East South or West I think Yahoo sold you a bill of goods.
