Newark Inn On The Square, Newark

I expected a wonderful hotel. What I found was a somewhat tacky, worn out hotel. There was no information in the room as to what and where the amenities were. When I ran the water for a shower, it came out orange for the first 2 seconds. The breakfast buffet was quite basic. On the plus side, the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. They were great! The hotel was very clean. The bed was comfortable.

Longaberger should stick to doing what they do best, making baskets, and leave the hotel business to the pros. I was there for a three-night stay and one night my room wasn't cleaned. The shower head sprayed water in your face and needed replacing, the A/C was impossible to regulate, and there was no breakfast area attendant two of the three mornings. However, the gift shop was fully stocked and open long hours so that Longaberger could get every dime you were willing to spend. Overall, the hotel needed fairly serious renovating and upgrading. I was very disappointed that this hotel wasn't up to Longaberger's usual standard of quality.

The staff was were all super wonderful. Food was good. Christine was really great. my only complaint was the elevator was supper slow. Very fun too.

My famiy stayed in the hotel while we were looking at homes for a job transfer. The best thing was the pool was open for extended hours and gave us a plce to unwind in the winter cold. My kids did often complain that their eyes burned after swimming. The rooms were old and outdated. Nothing like the Homestead, which looks clean and crisp. The fresh flowers were a carnation in the bathroom. The restraunt has a cafeteria feel to it and is very over priced for the area. The staff was nice enough, didn't see much of them. The location is great to get to Newark's square. We were able to grab dinner and a childrens magic show at the local theater. We have stayed twice, but that had more to do with the pool and the affordable price.

I loved the resteraunt inside the hotel, the chef could cook to perfection. The number one thing i liked was the actual employees. They will talk to you and make you feel right at home. They don't act like they hate there job but, that they love it. My family and I became good aquantences with the nightly Head Desk woman, Melissa, the restaraunt waiter, Betty, and giftshop employee, Sue.

The cleaning people and other non-customer poeple were cpmletely rude to my family. If you work in a customer related field you ahould at least out on a good show, but these ladies that were getting the room ready for a 3:00 pm check in were late and rude to my face.

It was just a really nice ,clean and friendly place to stay. The fact that Longaberger Company is affilated really helps too. The staff was very helpful when asked a question. It felt like they were glad you were there and that they really ment it.This is the only place I want to stay when I come out to Ohio.

The discription said great amenities. Embellishes each of it's rooms with fresh flowers and chocolates; The decor was 1980's Red Roof Inn, with the exception of the Longaberger waste baskets and tissue holder. There weren't any fresh flowers. And the chocolates were 1/2 dollar sized peanut clusters (just 2). The recliner was comfortable but had definitely seen better days. The water pressure in the shower was nearly non-existant, and it was impossible to get a consistent temperature. We were quoted a rate of $99/night. Definitely not worth it. We checked out a day early and went to the Holiday Inn Express in Heath. The gift shop was closed, so we didn't even get a chance to shop. We were underwelmed and disappointed by the Place Off the Square. We defintely exected more from Longaberger.

The electrcity was knocked out of the whole city sector we were in and the rooms were very cold but the staff was very helpful. I ended up leaving my shaving bag behind by mistake but two phone calls and they fedex'ed it back to me, no charge. Had the electric not been out the stay would have been much more enjoyable. Thanks

I have stayed at The Place Off The Square 3 times and am looking forward to my next visit there. The ambiance is all I expected and more. I have never been dissappointed with the service nor with the accomodations.
