Room covered in mold, smelled awful.
By Stef, 8/27/11
Like; close to amusement park. Dislike: Room was awful, smelled like mold, mold on the walls, mold on the warped disgusting ceiling tiles, mold on the window screen, and mold on the a/c filters. When brought to the attention of the front desk staff, there was no apology, just an "oh well". The shower was slow to drain, and the layer of dust and mold on everything was awful. Would not stay here again.

LOVED ALL THE NEW RENOVATIONS!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/11
The Breakers Resort had a lot of bad reviews about the air conditioning and stuff but now they renovated most of the hotel but still kept its gentle charm! All of the rooms are AC and the hallways too. A new pool is so nice as well! I cant wait to go back because you cant beat the location and the price!!

Fantastic Stay!!
By Stephanie, 3/2/11
My boyfriend and I decided to go to Cedar Point for our first vacation together. We stayed at the Hotel Breakers in the older Bon Air section. Being two college kids on a limited budget we had an awesome time. We loved how close we were to the park and beach. The days we went to the park we would get in line before it opened (as they open a few rides an hour early for hotel guests) and when the park started getting fuller we would return back to the hotel for lunch and a nap and go to the beach or Soak City after. We would then grab an early dinner and return to the park since many people would start to leave until about an hour until the park closed. Our favorite thing to do was walk/sit on the beach after to watch the coasters and dip our feet in the water. The day we didn't go to the park we went jet skiing which is located on the other end of the beach. We loved all of the dining options, but by far our favorite place was the ice cream shop by the pool. Fair warning, when you order a "double" you get four scoops!! :) The room wasn't the best, but there is so much to do we barely spent any time in it! There are other hotels, but none of the other ones are as conveniently located as the Breakers. For anyone that is an adrenaline junkie like we are I would definitely suggest visiting Cedar Point and staying at Hotel Breakers!!! You just CANNOT beat the location!!

Great Park, Terrible Rooms
By Spike, 8/31/10
Although we used the room only for sleeping and grabbing a quick bite, I would have expected a lot more for the price we paid. Everything is VERY old, but I have to admit the staff is accommodating and friendly. Location is convenient, but renovation is a must! If not that, the price should be at least half of what they are charging. They are ripping off their guests in that regard!

Loved the Breakers Hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/10
Loved the Breakers Hotel! After reading some of the reviews on the Breakers, I was pleasantly surprised at what I found on our recent stay. I booked 2 standard rooms in the Towers for the entire family. While it's true that the hallways are not efficiently air conditioned, it just added to the atmosphere of the hotel for me. The rooms were efficiently air conditioned and extremely comfortable. They were comparable in size to a Holiday Inn room, and easily accommodated a twin rollaway bed provided by the hotel. Rooms were very clean, and I saw not one bit of mold as reported in other reviews. The mattresses were not brand new, so what - the beds were comfortable, and we had no problem falling asleep and relaxing on them. I really appreciated the free parking and the convenience of the on-site restaurants and the extremely close proximity of the park entrances and the beach. Additionally, we found the hotel staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The only downside is the price, but it's well worth it for the conveniences. The entire family loved their stay, and can't wait until we go back again next year. I am recommending the Breakers Hotel to all my friends.

Great Location, Nasty Rooms
By Ninja, 7/8/10
This hotel has a great location for those wanting a quick break in air conditioning during the summer heat. The beach access and pools are nice, and having a Fridays right there is a good option when one tires of fried fair foods. But the condition of the rooms is shockingly bad. I understand this is a historic hotel, but charging $265 for a room with mold and missing parts of the wall is NOT acceptable. That would be expected from a cheap motel, but Breakers is billed at being the "jewel" of the point. It's one moldy jewel...in the sink, the bathtub, the AC...creepy. There's no AC in the hotel itself either, and some of the hallways smell bad. Breakers Express is cleaner and cheaper...plus you still get the discount tickets and early entry. I'll never stay at Breakers again...nasty. The staff were very helpful and nice, but it doesn't make up for the poor quality of the building itself. I wrote Cedar Point personally about the dangers of exposing children to black mold. Dangerous.

Dated, smelly, and run-down! We will never stay at Breakers again. Rude front desk staff and managers. You definately don't get what you pay for!

well worth the 8 hour drive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/9/09
the hotel staff was great, the rides were a two minute walk from hotel breakers(new) the beach was awesome as well as the pool. The water temp in both was very comfortable. The water park was great for kids and adults and the shuttle was at your finger tips to go anywhere.FREE!! Downside the stay was very expensive with nothing included. Had to buy brkfst lnnch and dinnr! All were within walking distance of our room!! If you go ask for the room with the view of the rollercoasters ROOM 5201 EXCELLENT!! Bring a cooler and have a blast!!!!!

Rude Front Desk & Rooms Right Out of the 1980's
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/09
At check in they were extremely slow.....and another party that was with us in a seperte room was told "do not speak to me like that, m'am. You are being rude and we have policies about that" They were telling her SHE was rude when all she was asking about was why the package she got was for FOUR people, when they stated at reservation that there were TWO people in the room. The hotel never corrected it, and thus they paid for a ride and slide for 4 people (they are in their 60's and hardly doing the waterpark, mind you). Very rude manager and staff at that desk. I have stayed there before many times for the location. Getting in an hour ahead of time used to make it worth it. Now, the prices of these rooms are absurd. I feel they are taking advantage of the fact the more Ohioans are staying around home, so they jacked up the rooms to make up for their losses in out of state attendence. The rooms need a HUGE facelift, looking like they are right out of the 1980's. The staff needs an attitude adjustment and while we pay those rates, they need to treat the guests.....well, as guests. Instead, we were made to feel as if they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there. No more, we are done.
