The coziest hotel in Grand Forks!
We have been going to this hotel twice a year for the last 15 years. We love it. It has a safe, cozy atmosphere. The lobby, rooms, hallways and pool area are very clean. It's so nice to have one of the rooms that face the large pool/sitting area. The pool has a stone waterfall that runs all day and evening, and in the evening the stones are lit up. There's romantic, soothing lighting all through the pool area, and on the indoor trees and shrubs, with lots of tables and chairs. After dinner when those lights are on, the kids go into the pool, and we sit by the pool with cheese, meats, crackers and beer (in soft cups), and have the best time!!! Because of the soft lighting, the people sitting in the area are not loud nor boisterous. It's very calming. The kids love the nicely shaped pool, or the play miniature golf, or play in the video arcade, which is all in the same area. There's also a raised seating area by the pool. For breakfast, we go into the lounge, give our breakfast order, and they bring it out to our table poolside. At the same time the kids take a quick swim, so it's a very nice start to the day. Near the roof, around the pool area, are windows, so the sun streams in, plus you get lots of sun from the lobby's front doors. If it's stormy, you feel so cozy as the kids swim, you snack on potato chips, or whatever, and watch the storm clouds through those windows by the roofline. At any time you can go into the lounge to buy a very good cup of coffee. You can buy your own beer, and take it poolside in the white plastic cups supplied in your room, but if you purchase a beer in the lounge, you need to consume it there. The lounge also has pull-tabs of various prices, but again must be opened in the lounge. The loung is large and very nice, just like a beautiful living room. On the weekend, the front desk has the Grand Forks newspaper for the taking. The store flyers come in the Sunday edition. If there's any problem, the front desk has it fixed while you're out for the day shopping. Staff have ALWAYS been friendly and go out of their way to make you happy. We like to bring lots of Winnipeg Free Press newspapers to put on the front desk, as Winnipeg is a large Canadian city 2 hrs north of GF. As you can tell, we really love staying at this hotel. We've stayed literally at all the hotels in Grand Forks, and now will only stay at this particular one from now on. All the other hotels had an impersonal cold feel, and there's nothing impersonal nor cold about this GuestHouse.
