Super 8 Minot, Minot

We have been in Minot for 5 months and have had to stay in this hotel twice because every other hotel in town was booked. Both times the manager/owner (not sure) walked into our room using his pass key. The first room had no deadbolt and he walked right in without knocking. The second time the room had a deadbolt and it prevented him from entering. I recognized his shirt through the opening but by the time I reached the door he was gone. Why was he trying to enter my room without knocking and why did he disappear when I opened the door? I was afraid to leave the room for the next 2 days, that we had to stay in this hotel, for fear he would rifle through our belongings. These experiences made for a very unsafe feeling and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who values their privacy.

It was clean and the bed was comfortable and inviting. The desk clerk was not overly friendly but not rude, which I attributed it to the difference in our backgrounds since she was of East Indian origin. It was quiet and I was totally happy with my experience except for one thing. The tab on the shampoo bottle was broken, so I assume they refilled a bottle that had previously been used. So I didn't use it. Other than that, it is a good buy for the price.

Let me put it this way, there was personal stuff in my room before the maid came that is now missing! Management did nothing!

I really like this Motel. They had new mattresses June 2008 so very comfy and the whole Motel is very clean. The people running it are Indian which accounts for one of the reviews saying they didn't understand them. I talk to them without problem they are friendly and doing a great job. The Motel has wheelchair access and the vending machines including ice, are all in one location with the washing machine and dryer too. It's conveniently located right near the road and the International hotel above it has great steak and shrimp and a sunday brunch. Super 8 is budget price but offers really good value. It's clean, the bedding is white not grey and the bathroom isn't too cramped. It's even peaceful with no one bothering you yet you can get friendly help at the desk at any time. There is plenty of parking but look out for the bump in the road when you go up the hill out of the car park, I caught my car underneath last year but if you go diagonally over it you will be fine, or go to the main road and avoid it. The rooms are really spacious with a nice size TV with all channels, the AC is effective and there is even coffee making machine in the room. The best point is how clean the motel is and how friendly. I really like the people running it and I think it's easy to jump on people who are not as conversant in English but I didn't find that any barrier. They are helpful and I enjoyed a few minutes of interesting conversation with the Mom of the family. The complimentary breakfast is really good and served in a pleasant foyer area with comfortable seating. I can't find anything to complain about with this motel I come here every time I am in Minot and I will recommend it and I will come back every time. Also it has wifi connection with is fast and trouble free to connect to.

Stayed in 6/2007. For the cheap price, room was what I expected. Bare bones! Upon checking in to motel, front desk clerk was rude and did not speak good english. Found dead bugs in the room and stains in the toilet were not cleaned. Would not recommend this motel unless it's the best you can do!
