A waste of money

I would only recommend this hotel if you are looking for something extremely cheap. I stayed at the Settle Inn this past weekend and it was complete letdown. The picture that was posted on the internet is not a picture of the Settle Inn in Grand Forks. The hotel is dirty and falling apart. The rooms are very small and the furniture is very cheap. The toilet leaked and paint chips littered the halls after having fallen off the walls. The continental breakfast that is offered was included a bag of bread, a bag of bagels and a bag of English muffins as well as bruised fruit, watered down orange/apple juice and coffee with non dairy creamer. The pool area was dirty and had a limited supply of towels. If you wanted to go swimming after the maid had left for the night and the other guests had used up all the towels you were completely out of luck. In the parking lot of the hotel, there is a Perkins, which is a bonus if you wish to avoid the terrible continental breakfast but at night there are very bright street lamps that illuminate under your window so that it constantly looks like daylight. The hotel is not very secure: a door which used to contain a card lock (so that only hotel guests may enter after hours with their room key) was broken off so that any one could enter the hotel at any time. The game/vending machine area was very small and reeked of smoke. The pool was of a good size but was cheaply protected by an iron fence. The hotel is right off I-29 and is at least a 10-15 minute drive from the major shopping centers. I would only recommend this hotel if you are looking for something at the bottom of the barrel and are not expecting quality.
