For bargain shoppers
By Fishy, 5/5/08
Hey, yeah, the floors were a bit dirty (my white socks looked like I'd walked outside for a bit), but it appeared clean. The beds were extremely soft and comfortable and the location is superb. It's exactly what you would expect from an old motorlodge from a throwback day. However, let me tell you about the showers. The heads are low, but the water pressure is phenomenal. It's like a massage, it comes out so hard. Very relaxing. The TVs are a bit small, but the atmosphere is quite quaint. In all honesty, if you're looking for a place to sleep, it's fine and affordable. If you're looking for a ritzy experience with the bells and whistles of vacation, look elsewhere. However, Wilmington is so beautiful, why spend time in the room anyway?

Do NOT stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/18/07
My fiance and I disliked the Econo Lodge to a severe degree. At the time, we both smoked so we stayed in a smoking room. Bad idea. I don't know how the non-smoking rooms looked but we were better off just sleeping in our car. We had to keep our shoes on for fear of parasites and dust mites. The bottoms of our feet were black if we stepped on the carpet which was also black. It felt sticky too. The bathroom light had a timer on it, and while I was taking n awful cold shower, the light turned off and I slipped and fell. There were cobwebs in the corners of the one teeny window we had, the fan made noise, the TV was broken and the beds were stiff. And we didn't even think about swimming at the time, we were both sunburnt and miserable the whole time anyway. I strongly recommend staying at another motel.

Will not return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/9/06
I wondered why the price for this hotel was so much less than all the others in the area. The hotel appeared to be clean, but the buildings are so old. They seriously need to be updated. The bathrooms are done in browns. That really does not give off a clean feeling. The shower head was about eye level with me and I am 5'6". So- that was a challenge. The mini fridge and microwave were handy. The TV had a good selection of shows. You had to ask for an iron, but they did not come take it back. We just returned it when we left and they didn't say anything. Overall- it was alright because it was the cheapest around, but I would probably not go back unless there were no other vacancies in the area. Next time I will squeeze out a few extra bucks for something better.
