Great Hotel!
By Jessica, 4/24/13
It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at Sweethoteldeals. Net They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

HVAC Problems
By REC69, 3/29/12
The heating system does not function properly. On the last day of my stay, the heater was simply blowing out cold air. No matter what temperature the thermostat was set to. It was not just my room, but throughout the hotel all day long. As I was in New York on business, I was staying in a full size suite and conducting meetings in a freezing cold room. In fact, we ordered hot coffee to be delivered to the room just to help warm up a bit. However, it seemed the hotel staff was busy and the coffee never came. I had to send an associate out to Starbucks to get coffee. You would reckon that a hotel with the prestige of the Waldorf would not have such problems. I will not be staying at the Waldorf again. If you need to be in that area, pick the W Hotel on Lexington which is right across the street.

Don't Stay Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/23/11
Stayed for 4 days...room was jaded and past its best. On final day I was attacked by a member of hotel staff when I entered a lift. They had a huge conference on and only delegates were allowed to use the lifts. I was physically thrown out of the lift. Complaints to hotel manager came to nothing except an offer to upgrade to Astoria Towers next time I came back.. Dreadful hotel and service. Hilton family should hang their heads in shame.

Past its prime but great if you can catch a deal
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/9/11
The location is unbeatabel as was the service. While the hotel was spotless clean, it is in real need of sprusing up. We were able to get a great deal on-line and would stay there again for the price. Anything under $300 would probably be worth it.

Pleasant stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/24/11
First off, I was automatically upgraded since I'm a Hilton diamond member. The hotel absolutely refuses to let anyone check in before 3:00 p.m., but the staff were very helpful in suggesting things to do as well as holding on to our luggage. If you're thinking of bringing your car, think again, as the W=A charges $50 a night for parking. Perhaps the most notable thing about this hotel is its prime location as well as historical importance. The interior without a doubt is a true remnant of the past, boasting gilded, vaulted ceilings, mosaic floors, and lavish chairs everywhere. The lobby is grandiose and comfortable, with passerby finding a squashy chair to pass the time. The rooms themselves are smaller than I'd like. Again, vaulted ceilings and victorian wall hangings/wallpaper. The beds are very comfortable and large, the bathrooms very nice. If you have the money to burn, visit this place. It definitely is not for the frugal type.

Not What it Used to Be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/4/11
We had numerous problems during our stay. There was a wedding going on that we were not informed of on the weekend we were there, and the lobby etc was shut down, making getting to rooms etc very difficult. Between the restaurant service there, and the difficulty navagating the building during the wedding, we were late for the theater. In addition, we were treated rudely by staff that were accomadating the wedding. Service at Peacock Alley was terribly slow both times we were there. In addition to service issue while we were there, they over charged our credit card which we found out when we returned home (we were charged for mini-bar items etc. that we never used). It took three phonecalls to get our bill straightened out. Upon makeing a complaint, we were offered a certificate for a free night in a Waldorf Astoria suite. We were told we would receive it within two weeks. Over one month and three phone calls later, we still do not have it. While the hotel is in a great location, and is hisorically interesting, it is a mere shadow of what it used to be and not worth the money or hassle.

Not recommended
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/08
I booked 18 days with this hotel and can personally tell everyone that this is not worth the money. Even when the toilet from above leaks on you, they will not fix it! For 400.00 a night, they'd rather have you pissed on than fixed a problem in your room. The first night we arrived we greeted with obnoxious employees and a room that smelled of urine. The carpet was disgustingly dirty and the bathroom above our room leaked urine all over us. After repeated calls and lies from hotel management, nothing was ever done. don't book this hotel.

This hotel is classic old-fashioned. The service is flawless and you can't beat the location. It is a little pricey but worth it,

Iconic New York Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/08
This hotel is the personification of old New York. The Lobby is spectacular the rooms are classically appointed, the decor is calm and dignified. The ensuite is reminiscent of an elegant time. Nothing is modern and cold it is all comfort and elegance. This is a real pleasure to stay. If you want impecable service, wonderful classic decor and a location that cannot be beat this is the hotel. Also, the price is very competitive for NYC, and I think it is the best value in the city.

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/08
Room wasn't "ready". I.E. empty tissue box,no liners in the waste baskets.etc. Elementary for a Hotel of this stature. Bull& Bear. Servers off the mark completely. Not topping up wine, plate service very amature. "o" help with wine. Our server knew nothing about the wine we were discussing and didn't have the presence of mind to ask the Captain or semmolier for assistance. As a Chef, however I must say the food was excellent. The reception room buffet was mediocre to say the least. Their fruit was over-ripe cheese platter unappaCtising ,shortage of utencils ie. cheese knife etc. I Don't think I would return.
