The Hedges, Blue Mountain Lake

This is by far, the best, most relaxed, serene vacation I ever had. We have gone there twice, once staying in the main lodge, once in our own clean but rustic cabin with hot and cold running water. A beach on the lake has enough beachfront with a gigantic glacial rock that teenagers love to swim out to and play on. Far enough from the parents to be alone, but close enough that you can supervise them. Not too many people bring kids, though, so it isn't overrun with children like other resorts can be. There is hardly anyone else at the beach. You practically have the lake all to yourself. Canoes and rowboats are provided so you can canoe through several lakes. There is a gameroom, reading room and sitting room with a big fireplace in the main lodge. There is a trail around part of the lake that is easy even for clumsy people like me to navigate. Breakfast and dinner are provided as part of the cost. Very quiet. For complete privacy, stay in the icehouse or one of the other cabins, not in the lodge. The icehouse has a loft for the kids. It was perfect.
