I look forward to the Hedges all year
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/09
My first visit to the Hedges was at 4 months, and I've been back every year since. For families, it's unbeatable as a vacation spot - plenty of room for kids to run around safely with friends; plenty for the adults to do to relax or take advantage of the gorgeous Adirondack outdoors. We see the same people every year and I hope to bring my family there until I am old and gray myself. The smell is what gets me every year when I step out of the car - the pines, the wooden cabins, the lake, dinner cooking in the dining hall.

beautiful and great staff

We ran across this wonderful place on our first trip to upper New York state and haven't seen anything to equal it from Bar Harbor to Gulf Shores!

Our paradise!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/06
The Hedges is truly a paradise for those who want to relax and enjoy the quiet. Have only stayed in the cabins, but they are very comfortable and clean. The dining lodge serves fabulous meals, and the after-dinner campfire outside the dining lodge is a true Adirondack experience. We love the place so much we keep going back every year.

Will return each summer!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/05
our family had an amazing time at The Hedges. If you enjoy kayaking, canoeing, swimming, hiking, fishing, enjoying quiet time by the lake, then this place is for you. We can't say enough about the Hedges. We loved it so much, we are planning on making an annual summer vacation.

Escape from all of it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/25/05
A perfect retreat - going to the Hedges at Blue Mountain Lake is more than a trip to the glorious Adirondack Mountains - it's a journey back to a time when service was a priority and people enjoyed freedom from TV, computers and all the electronic demands in our current lives. We were there when most the eastern part of the US was darkened by a major black-out. For some reason, the Hedges' power was not affected and we had no idea what had happened until we got home and had to reset the clocks. Now that's a vacation!

Beautiful - quiet
By Elaine, 6/26/04
We stayed at the main lodge (there are also cabins and another building). Very beautiful location right on the lake, rooms very comfortable, large and beautifully decorated. The sitting room and porch with rockers and adirondack chairs around the lodge is great - a great place to meet the other guests. Meals (breakfast and dinner) very good but no choice - if you are a picky eater bring your own food - no place to eat out for several miles. The staff is very courtious but you need to ask questions - they dont volunteer too much information about the B&B or area. Very quiet - no tv, phone, radio. There is a great historic lake tour via boat in town (1/2 mile walk) and don't miss the Adirondack Museum it is very interesting. We loved it! Will return.

The Hedges, Blue Mountain Lake
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/18/04
This is by far, the best, most relaxed, serene vacation I ever had. We have gone there twice, once staying in the main lodge, once in our own clean but rustic cabin with hot and cold running water. A beach on the lake has enough beachfront with a gigantic glacial rock that teenagers love to swim out to and play on. Far enough from the parents to be alone, but close enough that you can supervise them. Not too many people bring kids, though, so it isn't overrun with children like other resorts can be. There is hardly anyone else at the beach. You practically have the lake all to yourself. Canoes and rowboats are provided so you can canoe through several lakes. There is a gameroom, reading room and sitting room with a big fireplace in the main lodge. There is a trail around part of the lake that is easy even for clumsy people like me to navigate. Breakfast and dinner are provided as part of the cost. Very quiet. For complete privacy, stay in the icehouse or one of the other cabins, not in the lodge. The icehouse has a loft for the kids. It was perfect.
