Overpriced and
By Sambini, 08/25/09
Moldy. If you like paying for the chance to see a former resort hotel past its prime, this is the place! Room was shabby and the carpet was wet with mildew and cigarette burns. The pool outside was empty. At one point, this place must have been nice and well maintained. Not anymore. Price was high for the tackiness of it all.

the measure of all hotels -- negative
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/19/08
the Anchorage has been going down hill for 25 years -- been staying there for that long because no alternative in Rouses Point. Carpet is the same shag from the 70s - no joke. The Bar/REst was the one saving grace but that burned down. No mater where we go we can honestly say -- not as bad or dirty as the Anchorage -- such a nice spot - tear down and build a holiday inn it would be a goldmine

It used to never be like this
By ABS, 09/18/08
I stayed in this place years ago when the Bosley family owened it and it was the most delightful experiance I ever had. I was greated by such a kind woman at the front desk and there was nothing I could ask for better in the room. The carpet was clean and I had everything I needed. Its a shame that the new owners have run the place into the ground and I feel so sorry for the previous owners that they have to see the place they worked so hard for be turned into such a dive.

Wait a while

Unfortunately there was a fire recently in the restaurant part of the motel. The owner vows to re-build. Normally it is a nice motel run by nice people.

The worst place I have ever stayed in!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/07
October 2007 - unfortunately my husband and I left it too late in the evening to find a place for the night so when we found the Anchorage Motor Inn overlooking Lake Champlain, it looked in reasonable condition (it was dark!!) and they had a restaurant (we were hungry). We paid $80 USD to stay in this dump. The curtains were held over the window with only 2 hooks, none of the lights worked except for the bathroom, the TV remote didn't work but the worst was the filth. The door looked like it had never been cleaned and the carpet - smelled bad, looked bad and I kept shoes handy because I would not walk on it barefoot. I watched the clock (my own, there wasn't one in the room) all night, anxiously awaiting the arrival of morning so that we could leave. Even the restaurant experience was bad - we had to leave after waiting so long for our appetizers that never came. Rouses Point appeared to be a pretty little town but this is not the place to stay when you are there.

What a dump ( to quote Betty Davis)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/07
I stayed 2.5 hours before I decided that even at $62.50 a night, it wasn't worth it. Spiders bigger than half dollars, cob webs in every room, (as well as flies wrapped up in spider webs), a shower door so rusted it wouldn't slide, a room curtain that was falling off of it's curtain rod (not to be fixed), someone's something (chocolate? worse?) on the inside of the bedspread as I turned it down...shall I continue? I checked out, got my money back and drove to Plattsburgh where I stayed in a clean, delightful and modern establishment. (Did I mention the musty spell in the room?) Just thought I deserved better than the Anchorage. By the way, the view wasn't all that great and ther town was barren of entertainment. Do yourself a favor- SKIP IT!

Filthy, avoid this place at all cost
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/07
This place is absoloutly filthy, unfortunatly there is not much options in Rouses Point. If you can avoid this place, I would, even if you have to drive farther away to stay somewhere else. All the things the last reviewer posted were correct. There were cobwebs in our room, filthy bed headboard, a/c unit thaat doesn't work, no shamphoo or toilietries, disgusting carpets. This place will give you nightmares, I swear. Avoid this place like the plague.

This is the worst place I ever stayed at!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/07
The room was dirty, there was enough lint and dirt in the air condition control unit that you couldn't see the controls. There was cobwebs hanging down over the bed. The shower curtain was stained with black marks looked like mold. The carpet was so dirty you couldn't tell what color it was suppose to be. It was in the 80's outside and the air condition didn't work, when we told the person in the office, he said you just didn't turn it on, it does work - was just fixed. Went back to the room and there was no air conditioning, in fact the men that were all sitting outside theirs rooms said "what air conditioning" their's didn't work either. I would never recommend for anyone to stay here, I wouldn't let my dog stay here. If I had to pay $30 a night I would expect something this bad but for $76.00 this was horrible. You didn't dare walk on the floor without something on your feet, the phone didn't work.

central to many places
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/04/06
Anchorage is a good place to stay to be central to Montreal, Plattsburgh, and Burglington. The rooms need sprucing up, but the service is friendly and efficient. The lake view is beautiful
