Affinia Manhattan Hotel, New York

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at Sweethoteldeals. Net They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

Convenient location, easy to get everywhere. Super friendly staff. Good size room for NYC, comfy bed, complimentary coffee, tea and small fridge in room. Biggest disappointment was the extremely dated appearance and overall cleanliness upon arrival VS the pictures shown on the website. Lobby carpet, elevator carpets are old, frayed and worn. Maybe that's why it feels dirty? Bathroom was small, only a shower, needs a good scrub down. Overhead heat vents hanging with dust. Vanity cupboard can hardly hold the towels- install some deeper shelving units over the toilet. Would not stay here again unless it is updated or price goes way down.

My friend and I loved the hotel, great staff. We loved our room, so clean and nice. However we did laugh at the drapery! Kind of old fashioned. When our room sprung a leak after a heavy rain, we were quickly moved to another really nice room. I would surely recommend this hotel to anyone. Great location, services, great touch with the ice water. When I go back to NY-will definitely stay there.

The room was spacious and we had a lovely view!!!! The location is great and the staff was outstanding!!!!!!

I defiantly enjoyed staying at the Affinia Manhattan right in the middle of Manhattan. The rooms and hospitality was great and early morning room service was good also especially when we needed to get up early for our tour group. Thank you Affinia! enjoyed the comfy beds, service, and food

I had a very nice stay at the Affinia. You could tell it had been a little while since the rooms were remodeled, but they were still clean and nice. There was a full kitchen, a nice desk, internet, a huge comfortable bed, and pillows that were even better than the ones at home. The lobby was comfortable. There were plenty of couches and such to meet up with your friends. The elevator lobby was just beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a nice restaurant downstairs, and a Starbucks and a pub style restaurant directly across the street. There were a couple of negatives, but nothing that ruined the stay. It is right in the middle of New York City, so there is going to be traffic noise. I was on the seventh floor, and could still hear sirens and horns. My friends were further up. They said they didn't hear any traffic at all. Also, the bathroom and shower was quite small. They got the job done, and were very clean, but you had to pay attention to where your elbows were when washing your hair. Other than those two small things, it was a great stay.

Spent a long weekend at the Affinia Manhattan to celebrate a wedding anniversary. At the hotel's suggestion we used the valet parking. When we got our car back the bumper was severely gouged. Of course Affinia's garage denied causing the damage. The hotel? The only thing that saves this place is their location. It desperately needs a renovation. Their restaurant is mediocre and overpriced.

This is a great place. My husband, kids and i stayed here on the night of August 12th. We initially had a small problem with the booking arrangement, but the gentleman at the desk, Nino, was great and together with the lady manager on duty, they handled us professionally and very pleasantly. We'll certainly be coming back. Suite was spacious and cosy. What a pity we stayed only one night!

All members of our group [Hamilton Trading Grp Inc.] voiced high satisfaction with the rooms set aside for our party of 12-- no matter what floor-- each room being comfortable, cleaned sharply every day, and all questions answered with great courtesy. Had a good, if exhausting, week in the Affinia Manhattan. Not cheap by any means and this room in other countries would command half the price. When I mentioned the noise, the guy behind the reception desk burst into laughter and said 'you didnt expect noise in NYC'? I did, but I hadnt really given it much consideration... this hotel is built over a fire station. The engines go out with full sirens and horns, 3 or 4 times every night. We were on the 15th floor, but felt the noise would have been similar if we had been in a sleeping bag in the fire station itself. To reduce this, ask for a VERY high floor, 20 or above! The size of the room was actually fine, we had two double beds; just 2 adults, my daughter and myself. I chose this hotel because of the availability of a kitchenette in the room, and the fridge & coffee maker proved very useful. Also, a couple of nights when we were tired, we bought a take-out from the Chinese just across the road, and brought it into the room, ate in bed! So having plates & cutlery was useful too. Bathroom a little run down, tiny bath - just a shelf that you can perch on if you need to, couldnt really actually HAVE a bath. Shower above, worked fine. Slightly grubby tiles, needed updating a bit. Directly across the road from Madison Square Garden, the location is brill. Walking distance (couple of blocks, 500yds maybe) to Macys. Macys is just a fantastic shop! Close to the 'hop on hop off' bus stop too, so can't fault the location at all. MAUREEN on the concierge desk is worth waiting for if she's busy - she knows her stuff, and will make great suggestions, couldn't have been more helpful. Someone should give her a pay rise... The airconditioning in the room worked very well, room was icy cold. But it was actually a huge clunking beast stuck into the glass of the window (the size of a fridge), and if you closed the curtains, it stopped the airconditioner, so you were cool all night but had the noise and the early light coming straight into the room.. or you closed it up and sweated to death, but it was a bit darker! So in summary, I'm not sorry that I chose the Affinia. I think it's way expensive and way noisy - but as the guy on reception said 'this is New York, what did you expect'?
