Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/29/11
There was nothing to like. The owner was arrogant and rude. We had asked a room with 2 queen sized beds and after we got there he said that he didn't have a room like that and we could not have requested it. We decided not to stay and he refused to refund our money. The place is smelly and dirty. we decided to look at the room. Our room had not been cleaned when we went to it. I wish I had read the reviews before the call was made.

NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN, EVER!!!
By Mike, 8/2/11
This is worst hotel that I have ever seen in my ENTIRE life. The parking lot is dirt, the restaurant is always closed along with the bar. ONE person on staff at all times. There is one elevator, which always had trash in it. The rooms??? Lets see 135$ for a room smaller than a dorm room with a dirty bathroom in it. We were just lucky enough to a room that didn't need to have the breakers reset more than once in a night! It only had one queen bed in it with an absolutely FILTHY chair, stained beyond all recognition. MAYBE if this place was 60$ a night I could look past it, but not at all. I have stayed at one level hotels in truck stops that were better and less expensive with more helpful staff. I suggest NO ONE ever stay here.

NO PLACE TO WORK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/3/11
The owner of the hotel daoes not pay his employees theren full wages. When you work there you get shorted on hours and pay. Alot of employess are due back wages and he will not pay them. The owner has been turned into NYS Dept of Labor and they found that alot of people are due back wages but he will not pay them. When you ask him about overtime pay or short hours he says to talk to his daughter Sarina. You question her and she says to go talk to Mr. A. It gets to be a game of ping pong. That is how the hotel makes there money not paying any bills or wages. This is what they tought the father and daughter in college. Pay the back wages and get it over with, other people need to live. Do not get a job there unfair to employees.

Dirty Bedsheets
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/24/11
When I pulled down the covers on my bed I noticed that the sheets were dirty and have not been changed in awhile. They had stains and someone had dirty feet.

Disaster!!! This Hotel should be shut down.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/15/11
Dislikes about my $150 per night room: Inadequate heat. No hot water -- seriously, no hot water -- only cold water. Who here likes to take cold showers? Filthy rooms. Closed restaurant. Tiny rooms. Loud band music could be heard in rooms late into the night. Holes in walls. Smoky smell in halls. Filthy elevator. Stains and handwriting on walls. No view -- windows blocked by a/c units. New York City prices. No staff. Sidewalk and entry not shoveled -- snow dragged into lobby making floor soaking and smelly. Likes: None

Not good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/10
I last came to the hotel saranac 10 years ago, not knowing that the college sold it, I booked reservations for this weekend. All I can say is.. Disgusting. The floor had weird white powder on it, there were wrappers under the bed, bottle cap behind the toilet, and the room smelled horrible when we went in. I honestly expected a lot more than this. It was gross, dank and just yucky. I'm sad, the restaurant is closed. It is just a dump

Really, really bad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/24/10
The room was musty and dirty. We were supposed to stay for three nights and moved to the Lake Flower Inn after one night. They did not serve breakfast at the restuarant and the dinner was pretty bad. The front desk staff was horrible. We were there years ago when it was run by Pual Smiths' College. The rooms were fine and the restaurant was good. What a shame the college sold it.

NO value for the money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/19/10
I was traveling for business and despite the high price, I checked the animities and thought, well, at least they have a restaurant. They don't tell you while you are making your "non-refundable" reservation that the restaurant is closed for the season (both of them AND the gift shop). Then, they do not tell you there is NO continental breakfast. I've stayed in Lake Placid, paid 30.00 less for a great room w/a pool and got a nice breakfast choice for FREE in the morning. I was able to bring my daughter and it is a good thing. Our keys did not open the door. We requested the assistance of staff at one point. He went up and laughed it off when he had a problem. The walls are very thin, we heard the entire conversation of the people next door despite turning up the television. We had the noisey heater turned up and still could not get warm! This hotel is Saranac Lake's biggest rip off! It's ashame. Even with AAA the cost was nearly 80.00. Save your money and go somewhere else! Aside from saying we stayed there, that is all we got out of the experience.
