BEST WESTERN Sovereign Hotel - Albany, Albany

I didn't like anything about this place ,we had a winter party here and the food was really bad the room we were in was dirty there was mildew around the cracked caulk in the bath tub and dusty vents just gross.enough said.

My German Shepherd , My 16 yr old daughter and myself stayed here for 3 nights. The room was HUGE,( be sure to ask for a re-furbished pet room.) The front desk staff was cordial, the house keeping staff was very pleasant. honoring my request to Not service the room, as I had it organized as I wanted it, but were prompt in providing the few items I requested. The food at the 1228 Grill was wonderful.. (chicken alfredo..Mmmm!) The continental breakfast was warm, tasty and filling, although a little variety for those of us staying more than 1 night might be nice. The kitchen help was gracious with our daily request for chocolate milk The pool was relaxing and warm and clean. The hotel is easy to find, close to 2 malls, near the colleges... Although some guests seem to be uncomfortable at night, I had no fears taking Kolby for his nightly walk. I'd move right in if I could ! Fellow pet owners.. PLEASE show respect when you visit this hotel, so that it continues to allow pets ! Bring a well groomed, well behaved pet and keep the hotel room and outdoor areas clean. Be sure to thank the management for allowing pets when you check out. Enjoy your stay at the Albany Best Western Soverign Hotel.. tell them Kolby, the German Shepherd , sent you!!

We stayed one night in January '09 and had no complaints about this place and the staff. There was a convention going on with lots of College Students from all over the country but there were no problems...they were well behaved and Mr. Nusair (Hotel Manager) had a good handle on running things. Clean facilities, good food and great service

If you like to pary, this is your place. The hotel was full of drunken, noisy, party people who ran around slamming doors, yelling, breaking furniture in the hallway and generally carrying on untill 3:30 am. One night a group was under my window at 3 am yelling and swearing. I have stayed here for years, but will never stay again as the new management does nothing to control their "guests". To add insult to injury, the group allowed to disturb the entire hotel may have been on the state's dime so I helped pay for their stay!

Just returned from a vacation with my children. We stayed at this hotel for its proximity to Cooperstown and SUNY/Giants training camp, Rt 90, and an indoor pool. (My kids are swimmers.) The hotel was tired and worn with a stale odor. The rooms dark and dingy. The pool was cloudy and the deck area dirty. When I saw green slime and mold growing around the deck drains, I was repulsed. Had we not paid for the hotel in advance, (2 nights), we would have checked out immediately. I would NOT recommend this hotel.

The Hotel is under new management and For the Price and the Location this hotel cannot be beat. The staff was extra helpful, the pool was great and the breakfast was an added bonus. The hotel went out of its way by giving me drinks on the house for just staying there. They seem to really be trying to upgrade this hotel a lot. Will stay again 100%

I'm a flight attendant and we stay at many different hotels. This is by far THE WORST hotel I have ever stayed at. The room was FILTHY! It was so bad that I slept with a hooded jacket with my hood on, sweat pants and even socks!!! I laid towels on the sheets and threw all of the blankets on the floor. I even left the TV and all of the lights on all night while I tried to sleep. (to keep the bugs away) For my shower...ew...diry and gross...I used the towels to stand on in the tub and dried my body with a small scarf that I always keep in my bag. We finally got this hotel off of our list of layover stays. Thank goodness. Seriously the worst place to stay!!! You're better off sleeping on a park bench.

I just think for $100, you can find a nicer hotel in the area. Greasy breakfast wasn't worth the freebie. Bed was flat as a board. Rooms look as though they haven't been renovated since 1980. Bathroom and items very outdated. Staff is very nice though and it's located right by SUNY. If you like luxury, don't stay here :(

I stay with my wife and two small children for two days in the winter . The staff in the front desk was wonderful they were very professional and frindly. The room was very clean and the housekeeping staff was excellent . The room had video games which could be order at extra charge my kids love this feature most. I ate at the restaurant and our waiter I can`t said how pleasant and nice he was. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.I almost forgot the gym and and steam room what a added bonus , I took advantage of both.

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel b/c it's on the SUNY Albany website for accomodations close to the campus. It was directly across the street which was very convenient. We could have walked if the campus wasn't so big. I thought the staff was friendly, the room was clean and the complimentary breakfast was great! It's actually in the restaurant adjacent to the hotel and it's a full, hot breakfast. I've stayed in much nicer hotels but paid much higher prices too. I thought for the money it was a great buy! I was actually surprised to read the review that said, "I left as soon as I got there." That's actually what prompted me to write this review, I didn't think that was a fair assessment of the hotel.
