A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO BE FOR THE SUMMER.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/28/11
I read a lot of your reviews and some of these people must be talking of the old Raleigh Hotel under the old management or are simply malicious. The hotel under the new chassidic management has been restored and turned into a first class hotel. The hotel itself and the food and service are all A-1.

Overpriced, maybe was nice 50 years ago
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/11
This hotel is dirty and old. Half the place is closed up and falling apart. The staff seems to be courteous. Our toilet broke 3 times while were there for 2 days, and the toilets on the main floor got all clogged and disgusting. The food was OK, if you know what to eat and what to stay away from. The staff didn't clear the table between courses, and even put the dessert plates on top of our dirty dinner plates. The pool was the nicest thing about it. But this is totally overpriced. I couldn't wait to get home and take a shower.

It Needs Loads of help!!! (You should decide)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/10
I went to this hotel for onenight and was very happy that I only went for one night. Firts they didn't have working T.V.'s. The hotel was left alone for maybe 10 years and Chassidick Jew's purchased it. In it's day it was beutifull but like many old things it's day had ended. The outside looks HORRIBLE and the Lobby is ok. Bathrooms are old with many non-flushing touilet's!!! The food was ok. Overall I probably/hope to never return to this hotel. That doesn't really mean that it is so bad just that It isn't for me (someone who is use to Marriots Hiltons etc.) Pool is actually pretty cool!

R e d r u m
By Sylvia, 9/7/10
I came here for a music festival in the area and this is where they gave me a room. We got there being confused as to what the place really was; it was connected to a hospital and some sort of ski shop..The room number was written on a sticker next to the door. Several hallways were pitch black, no staff working. No ice... The shower water was scorching hot. The door to the pool was bolted shut. Random closets were filled with abandoned mattresses, baby cribs and tricycles. Chickenwire in the stairwell. I might be missing a kidney.. Two stars for making me laugh.

A long time ago

We honeymooned at the Raleigh 40 years ago. It saddens me to read what has happened to this once magnificent hotel. Perhaps, with economic conditions being what they are, these once popular resorts within a couple of hours of NYC will regain their popularity. Someone told me that the Nevele in Ellenville closed last year. It's all very sad.

Going Way Back in Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/29/09
Am showing my visit in 2004, since the selection doesn't go back any further than that! Am surprised that the Raleigh is still around. If I age myself, our family was there when I was about 13 years old, and that is about 50 years ago. The one big thing I remember is that we had driven a very long way and no hotel staff even offered to help with our bags; Dad wrenched his back unloading the car! I know it has been so very many years since we were there. Fun being anywhere away from home at that age. Our next stop after the Raleigh on that trip was Lake George - simply magnificent!!
