Great room, great food, friendly people. The staff couldn't be any better. They work to make your stay a joy.

Great Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/11
We have visited the Otesaga on several occasions and have always enjoyed staying there. The staff there was very helpful and friendly. The food is excellent. Our family loved it............the children went canoeing, fished, swam and enjoyed every minute.

Terrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/12/11
Garishly decorated, unless you like the retro kickback to 1990. Rooms were small, uncomfortable and ridiculously overpriced. The food and service were equally as terrible. The staff was snobby and unwilling to provide any level of hospitable service.

TAPS
By Kelly, 8/26/10
The TAPS, Trans Atlantic Pananormal Society, just did a show there because of complaints of hauntings.

Tremendous Disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/28/08
Great if you don't need ANYTHING. If you do, service is better elsewhere. Rude, inattentive staff. Obnoxiously arrogant management. They don't get it. Just because the view is great, doesn't mean you should have to pay top dollar to be treated horribly.

Don't trust the kitchen
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/07
We had a terrible time. I have specific dietary needs (I'm allergic to animal products) and always bring my own food when I travel. But in this case, I didn't because I was assured that I would be taken care of. When our salad was delivered, the tomatoes were covered with mayonaise, when our meal was delivered, it was smothered in butter. The next day, I called the consierge, but the consierge was gone for the day; I asked the operator where I might find a restaurant that has vegetarian/vegan food, but she had no idea where I could go. We ended up driving 1/2 an hour to get food, with NO help from the hotel. The hotel service people were very friendly and I have no complaints there, but I wasn't able to eat a meal until a day after I arrived. If I had eaten their food, I would still be suffering from a migraine today.

Lives up to its name
By Barry, 10/15/07
We're currently planning our 2008 wedding at The Otesaga and wanted to experience it the year before the Big Day! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent - guest rate includes 3 or 4 course dinner depending on which of the two restaurants you eat at as well as breakfast in the AM (only complaint is that breakfast ends at 10am). Views are stunning of Lake Otsego and the grounds. Checkout time of 1pm doesn't force you to be rushed in the morning. Looking forward to our wedding weekend and making The Otesaga an annual visit.

Just OK, not going back
By judy, 8/7/07
Very noisy hotel. We were right next to the stairs and the door slammed all night long. No elevator so if you are unable to haul your bags to the second floor, make sure you get a room on the first floor. Water did not drain in shower/tub. Breakfast in restaurant was almost inedible. We only stayed one night, thankfully. The outdoor pool was dirty and grimey on the bottom and packed with boys baseball team members hitting each other with swim noodles for hours on end. Not very relaxing! Parents getting drunk at poolside. Close to Cooperstown which is a plus and a nice view if you can get one of those rooms. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

Not as thrilled
By Tee, 9/18/06
Our room was very noisy. There was an elevator directly across from our room and stairs that led to the 5th floor. We were kept awake until 3 am. with trampling people up and down the stairs and the elevator dinging everytime it opened. My husband is deaf and without his hearing aid he was kept awake as well. I agree with the other reviewer about the meals. We had to return ours. The steak was over cooked with concgealed sauce around it because it was so cold. The dining room reminded me of a cruise ship. The rooms were just ok as far as amenities and decor. All in all not worth the price. The only positive experience was the location on the lake and sitting on the verands.

Love, Love, Love this resort! The perfect spot in Cooperstown! The rocking chairs on the veranda are so very relaxing and the view of the lake is gorgeous. This is the absolute BEST resort and worth every penny!
