Please do not go
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/28/09
This place is not even close to looking as nice as the pictures online. Very rude reception, arrived at 2:00 , they assured me to be back by 3 and they will have room ready, 4:00 PM and was not ready with no apology , dirty path room, noisy you can hear every move from the room above you. Just do not go there, it is very expensive for what you will get

My Hurricane Wedding at MYC
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/09
Our wedding on August 29,2009 was perfect! Everything was done beautifully! We could not have asked for better service. My guests raved about the whole affair-including all the food, and your staff.Pam and Alex Cave, the wedding coordinator, was wonderful! Our guests who stayed the weekend were pleased with the accommodations as well. Hurricane Danny and all-it could not have been a more perfect wedding! The weather didn't even seem like a concern to the staff! And they certainly made US feel like it was sunny inside & out !!! Thank you MYC SO much for turning My Hurricane Wedding into the most sunny Saturday of the summer! Karen & Tony Confessore

Shabby room, way overpriced
By adrian, 10/6/08
The dirty welcome mat in the lobby and worn-down carpet in the hallway is an indicator of what to expect inside. Rooms are very outdated with old wallpaper and popcorn ceilings. Way overpriced for what you get, it feels more like an $80 motel room painted white for the "yacht club" feel. (For $240, shouldn't the room be at least as nice as your home?) On the plus side, the bed is clean and comfy - nowadays not getting bedbugs is a small victory so at least they have that going. There's no literature in the room to sell the resort's restaurants and bar, or attractions in the area - but someone did wake up my wife and myself (on our anniversary) at 11pm to drop hotel flyers underneath our door, and managed to make a lot of noise and wake us up in the process. The walls are very thin. Avoid the Lighthouse Grill Restaurant. The menu is good, prices are very expensive, and the service is completely awful. ALL of the food arrived lukewarm and it just took FOREVER to get. Waited about a half-hour for a Scotch and I couldn't get another if I wanted to. The bar only stocked Johnny Walker, albeit in different varieties, and Glennfidisch. (Really, only two brands of Scotch?) The dining area was drafty and my wife's legs were completely freezing! In short, avoid this "resort" altogether, go to some other tourist trap instead.

Montauk Wedding
By Mark Brennan, 7/1/08
I recently was married at MYC and would not recommend it to any future couples. In the year leading up to the wedding they went through 3 wedding planners and the final one left the position two weeks before the wedding. Here is a short list of the shortcomings: -3 weeks before the wedding they didn't realize our wedding was booked -they had all of the wrong locations for the ceremony and reception -they were the most unprofessional unorganized outfit I have ever seen - I felt like they had never done this before -they nickel and dime you for everything little thing that should have been complimentary -the rooms are old and drab

Great Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/29/07
My husband and I spend an extended weekend out in Montauk every year. We started this new tradition back in 2004... so this is our fourth year. Usually we stay at Gurney's Inn... My co-worker suggested staying at the Montauk Yacht Club which I had never heard of before but we decided to try it! We actually booked online. My husband booked us a Twilight Cruise Package. It was amazing! Besides boarding a beautiful boat, I think it was called the Masterpiece or the Masterfield... we boarded right from the yacht clubs dock! We also had breakfast for 2 the next morning! Anyway, from check-in on the trip was amazing! The front desk staff was extemely knowledgeable, they even gave us a map of the property and of Montauk! They also told us about their Shuttle, which we used twice, and it was clean and the driver was friendly, unlike Gurneys. Although the property is on the Lake and not on the Ocean I couldn't have asked for a better property. It was a nice change from Gurney's and when we wanted to go to the Ocean the Shuttle Bus dropped us off and picked us up! The room was clean and beautiful with an amazing balcony that looked over their marina. And, oh my god, the food was fantastic. From 2005 on we went out for most of our meals as the food at Gurney's leaves a lot to desire, but we honestly stayed in and ate at Breezes or in the fancier restaurant, Lighthouse Grill, 2 out of our 3 days there! I recommend the yacht club to anyone looking to come to Montauk... Try their lobster!

Best Vacation Ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/28/07
The Montauk Yacht Club has it all. I stayed here with my husband and 2 children in July and we have already booked our summer vacation for next year. THE FOOD IS AMAZING. You must eat in the Lighthouse Grill, the casual restaurant, Breeze's is really good too, quick and great for the kids. Service was perfect, I don't think we ever had to ask for anything, it was all taken care of for us. They even have a free shuttle every hour to take you around Montauk! The pools are beautiful, the beach is small but perfect for the kids to play. They even have cocktail service poolside and on the beach! You don't have to get up to get that pina colada! We stayed right in the main hotel and the view was spectacular. The room had a nice balcony overlooking the lake, one morning we ordered room service and ate on the balcony...so nice!! They offer a "Kids Club" so one day we dropped off the kids and had some time to ourselves, and the kids loved it! They didn't want to leave! The counselors played with them all day, arts and crafts and outside, it was better than summer camp! We were at the Yacht Club in July and my kids are still talking about it November! I had been meaning to write a review for some time, and I really honestly can say this was the best vacation my family has ever be on. We can't wait to go back and if you are looking for a relaxing, family friendly, fun, vacation you will remember for years GO TO THE MONTAUK YACHT CLUB!

WHAT A DUMP
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/1/07
This place is a flea-bag, ripoff. First, it isnt even close to looking as nice as the pictures online. It is a complete misrepresentation. We were booked in the "villas"...which are nothing more than 4 100 year old cottages that were poorly renovated 25 years ago. Unpaved, poorly lit, IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE WHERE YOUR ROOM IS LOCATED. It looks like a neglected low income housing project near the water, SCARY!! When we attempted to gain access to the "suite", the electronic door lock (which looked like it was underwater for 20 years) kept jamming. We asked the "front desk" (what a joke that is), to assist. They send some guy on a golf cart, goose chase through the dirt roads. He attempts to open the door, and of course, fails, as we did, and he promptly blamed the jamming on the weather (its been sunny and warm for weeks?). It took him several attempts which included body slamming the door, which finally opened. Upon seeing this tiny "suite" with a basically broken door jamb, realizing we would never be able to get back in, nor would we want to, as the entire place is musty and dank! To think they charge $399.00 per night! We promptly returned to the front desk, which is staffed by underpaid and overworked disadvantaged employees, and ran out, and this was after a 2 hour drive at midnight!!! DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!

Away from the Maddening Crowd
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/07
Montauk has a charm and grace all its own and Montauk Yacht Club offers a charming escape from the maddening crowd. Intimate, Romantic, with a gorgeous backdrop of the Bay, Spectacular Yachts, and friendly staff and guests. Wonderful service, good food, clean, large rooms, and a pace and vibe that lets you and your family "chill out". For those who crave a more frenetic, fast paced vacation, East Hampton is 15 minutes away. Lots of great places to enjoy, closeby including the Lighthouse, Beaches, The Dock and Marina, Tennis, Golf, and nature walks. One word to sum it all up....Great!
