don't do it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/10
FIRST, If you have to book here, don't use the 800 number! I reserved using the 800 number first but got a strange feeling; no reservation number and just a rather strange interaction from the other end. I called back to confirm the 2 seperate days and there was no record of my reservation. Who the heck did I give my cc# to?! Needless to say, I had to have a new one sent to me. SECOND, they are so insanely overpriced. The main hotel ($150 and up) is acceptable. However, if you are an average person who can't afford blowing that, you are condemned to a MOTEL next to the main. It is rather insulting. It was only $50 less a night. They should have paid me to stay there. THIRD, the accomodations were horrible. When we arrived the room was near 300 degrees. It took me the entire night to regulate the temperature with windows open and using the ac as an intake fan. There was an interesting stain on the wall. Extremely dated. The bathroom is light blue, yellow, and brown. The shower was like bathing with an out of control hose. I admit, I giggled at first because of the insanity but after a fun filled experience avoiding cuts from the pressure and flooding the floor, I couldn't breathe! The exhaust fan wouldn't work and the steam was choking me. Really, I could go on but I tihnk I've made my point. The so called "resort" is of course at a beautiful setting on the lake next to several steam boat tours but there is nothing else that this place has going for it.

We will stay at this hotel every time in Lk George
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/15/09
This hotel is top of the line in Lake George. The view of the lake from the rooms is breath taking in all four seasons. We stay here every summer, fall and winter (for the winter carnival). The rooms are always so clean and large. You can park your car once and walk to everywhere in minutes - very convenient. There is also the Fort itself that you can tour and learn about our history that is very interesting. Right behind the hotel is the beach road full of shopping and eateries. We will continue to book this hotel every time we are in Lake George.

The Worst Service Ever!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/09
I checked in and was given keys to my room... opened up the door and was greeted by two guests who were already checked in lying on the bed.. What an embarassment...went back to the front desk only to find out my room was given to someone else BY MISTAKE! I was then told the hotel is fully booked for the night and will see what they can do to find me a room..waited for 45 minutes until a room was found then another 30 mins for them to clean it up ... Lake George is beautiful, will definitely visit again but Fort William Henry I definitely will not recommend!

Don't waste your money!
By tandr, 8/19/08
It touted itself as a classy, elegant place that would remind us of old times. The room we stayed in was smelly, and our neighbors said theirs were too. According to the brochure, the hotel had been renovated completely just a couple years ago. If by "complete renovation", they mean they replaced the faucets in the bathrooms, then sure, it was renovated. The room was a dingy cave that stunk to high heaven, as if it had been recently converted to a 'no-smoking' room. The air-conditioning unit had a loud fan that kept turning on once every half-hour. Apparently, nothing was sound-proofed, as we heard people walking and talking outside our room all night. (That meant they heard our baby too.) It didn't help that our room was two doors down from the lobby, and we heard everyone who came and went. People do not come and go quietly. Our window had a view of the parking lot (not the lake), and while Delaney was napping one afternoon, I watched a UPS truck back up almost right into our window. The toilet ran continually. The mattress was lumpy and hard. The shower stall was the size of a phone booth, and I bumped my elbows against it while trying to wash my hair. In the morning, there was no complementary coffee or breakfast. Everything had a fee. And then, one morning at 6:00, as I trudged bleary-eyed to the veranda with Delaney in tow, for my $2 mini cup of coffee, I was told that the coffee cart was not going to be open for business until 7:00. I thought longingly of the Holiday Inn Express. I have stayed in far nicer places for far less money.

We went to Lake George at night around 10 pm and they asked us to goto another hotel and said its a better upgraded hotel .but as expected it was not better . but an Old castle kind . we had to pay for all amenites . no free breakfast, no microwave in room , no fridge in room . etc etc . finally we ended up paying more than we planned .how can they overbook once we have booked a room ?.

It's got location, and thats it!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/8/06
It is centrally located in the lake george village area, great to see the fireworks from during the summer. However, don't book a package deal. And if you do, make sure you get what you are entitled to (we had to show them a brochure of selected items that we were suppose to get and they didn't realize it). And upon checkout: make sure they don't accidentally rip you off. (suppose to get a meal credit for our package and they were about to charge us for the meals by completely forgetting about the credit and it took them two times to get that correct). Hallways stay dirty (ie., never cleaned while we were there). The servers that we had for the on-site breakfast were tolerable at best.

Beautiful room and view!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/25/06
On a bus tour, we stayed here during the weekend of the Balloon Festival and loved the room (in the annex), view of the lake, and the food was excellent. Everyone on the staff was super! Very close to the great shops on Beach Road and cruises on the lake.

Sunday Breakfast....Not best in Town
By klsherman, 9/25/06
We stopped for the Breakfast advertised as the best in town. What a joke!! The service...was well non existant until our check came. We were seated at our table and our waiter never came over until the very end of our meal. The breakfast was a buffet style. Everything was about empty, it was only 9:30am!! The food was COLD, eggs very very runny, pancakes hard as a rock. The table linens on the buffet were horribly dirty, stained and needed to be changed. There were no clean glasses for the juice, only choice was coffee mug. At 9.95 per person it was a complete disappointment. What looked like a restaurant advertised ended up being a very large and unfriendly banquet room. Huge tables for only two of us...and not offered the outdoor dining patio. The view that was advertised was hindered by drapes and curtains. This is a waste of time!! We went looking for a wonderful breakfast overlooking the lake. We definately didn't get that or anything close to it!!

mis leading
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/06
booked online , only saw picture of the new hotel, there are 2 wings on either side , be careful as they do not show them on any website and they are called the rooms near the outdoor pool and then the premiere near the indoor pool, they are dirty, we had mould above the bathroom, we had a nail sticking out of the headboard, wallpaper peeling not worth 189 a night , view is breathtaking, stayed in the new part of the hotel after a few trips to the front desk to let them know how annoyed and misleading there add is, just be careful it is something to drive 4 hours and think that you are staying in a nice new hotel , truth of the matter is they wouldnt have any guests if they showed the the left and right wings... none of the staff could argue with me after they got online , there is no mention of the motel looking rooms ,call me fussy i just want cleanliness when im with my kids, they are too old to ever be really clean again, did get a free night , maybe its because i have photos to show some of the dissapointment , indoor pool is really old and not very pleasing to the eye
